Speaking of Yeti Pro, I've been meaning to get one for ages so did a Google
search to see where they're available in Australia and - believe it or not -
they're available right from the Apple Store which means express free shipping
etc so an order has been placed .

When you install the Webbie package choose Custom Install and then only

Hey Humberto, I'm still having lots of fun with SONGR. Thanks again
for that one.

I visited the WebbIE site to look for Podcatcher, and it looks like I
might need the WebbIE full installation in order to use it. Do I
understand this correctly? I really would like to give this program a
try, but really don't wish to install yet another browser on my
system. It seems like I once tried WebbIE, and didn't find it
especially useful, but again, I would really like to revisit podcasts
once again and could really use an accessible program. Anyway, if you
could enlighten me on this software, I would really appreciate your help.

Thanks,

When I had a similar problem with the turntable rumbling back into the
nearby speakers, I had to put a piece of foam on each of the four feet of
the turntable. The foam was the same type that you find in a foam matress.
The pieces were at least an inch thick and not solid foam, but spongy
foam.

Re: Plantronics Audio 995 Headset

2014-02-14 Thread Dane Trethowan
Only my opinion of course, if the headset's lasted that long then you've
managed to get very good value for money.

Someone on Twitter was going on about needing software to control them and that
software wasn't accessible.

All I can say is this is the first time I've heard of that, software never got
a mention in the review, in the brochure for the headset etc so I suggest that
the Tweeter may have been referring to another set of Plantronics Audio, I know
the Plantronics Audio 478 headset I have - which is a USB headset - has
software to configure the control panel on the cord but that's perfectly
accessible under Windows.

RE: audacity tutorial

2014-02-14 Thread Hamit Campos
What Happened to Jene's tutorial? I know Rick had it at some point, but who
knows now. Yeah it's old, but just like Jonathan Mozen's Sound Forge one,
it's still usible since you use the software the same way at the very
basics.

You're getting some good tips on this and I found the link to Mic
technique good.

Whatever mic you are using you will get this problem if its sitting
directly above
the computer. I've moved my Rode mic over to another purch to the side of
the
desk, and though its not very convenient it cuts down the hum and
vibration quite a

bit.

I speak pretty close to the mic without encouraging pops. Sometimes I use
a bit of

base roll-off in the audio editor.

One more thing which can help is a mic shock mount, which should isolate
the mic

from stand-borne noise.

Hope some of that helps.

Ray.

Thanks Roger and Humberto for that helpful information. I'll probably
be getting on it some time over the next week. It will be interesting
finding out what is going on lately in the world of Podcasting.

Thanks,

Larry

I bought a mount, but I am returning it, I thought the shock mount I would
be able to use on top of my desk but I need a boom arm and I am not going
to spend the money for one do not need it that bad yet.

Speaking of Yeti Pro, I've been meaning to get one for ages so did a
Google search to see where they're available in Australia and - believe
it or not - they're available right from the Apple Store which means
express free shipping etc so an order has been placed .

I would try not using the mic stand that comes with the mic. Use a boom
stand and mount the mic that way so that it's not on the desk at all.

hi,
and are you 100 % sure it's not electrical humming?
you can check that by touching it while you record. if it stops then it's
a grounding problem.

Hi,
Putting the Yetti on a pad of foam rubber is the best. Most times, even
a foam mouse pad will work.

What I have done to get rid of this humming is to place the mic stand
on a
thick pad of foam rubber. This works for me. This is a very
sensitive

mic!

hello I am a blind pc user, I own a blue yetti pro, I use it on the
stand
that it came with, and it is a very good mic. my problem is that I have
a

tower under my pc, with a five inch fan that is on top of the pc and it
blows air up. when my mic is on I hear the fan of the tower, but that
is not

the problem.
like I said because my tower is under my desk and the mic sits on top
of the

desk I hear a humming coming from my desk, I think it's the fan that is
blowing under the desk. now when I take the mic off the desk the
humming
goes away, so I think that the humming is coming from air hitting
bottom of
desk. now I bought a shock mount, but the hummming is still there with
the
shock mount. and again once I lift the mic off the desk the humming
goes

away.
is there anything I could do for this. some one suggested a boom arm,
but if
I get one will I have to take the mic off the stand to attach it to
boom

arm. any suggestions will be appreciated.
thanks so much.
