Speaking of Yeti Pro, I've been meaning to get one for ages so did a Google search to see where they're available in Australia and - believe it or not - they're available right from the Apple Store which means express free shipping etc so an order has been placed . hi, and are you 100 % sure it's not electrical humming? you can check that by touching it while you record. if it stops then it's a grounding problem. Interesting, I've been writing about these on Twitter, I'm getting people writing to me saying they've had problems with the audio, pops, distortion, feedback and so on. I'm not saying they're wrong but its the first time I've heard problems of this nature mentioned by anyone, the reviews I've read certainly didn't mention any problems like this and other list members obviously haven't mentioned any such details so what do you think, have you had any problems like this? Re: Plantronics Audio 995 Headset
Only my opinion of course, if the headset's lasted that long then you've managed to get very good value for money. Someone on Twitter was going on about needing software to control them and that software wasn't accessible. All I can say is this is the first time I've heard of that, software never got a mention in the review, in the brochure for the headset etc so I suggest that the Tweeter may have been referring to another set of Plantronics Audio, I know the Plantronics Audio 478 headset I have - which is a USB headset - has software to configure the control panel on the cord but that's perfectly accessible under Windows. I bought a mount, but I am returning it, I thought the shock mount I would be able to use on top of my desk but I need a boom arm and I am not going to spend the money for one do not need it that bad yet. - Original Message - From: "Dane Trethowan" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Friday, February 14, 2014 2:58 AM Subject: Re: need helping with humming on blue yeti pro. Speaking of Yeti Pro, I've been meaning to get one for ages so did a Google search to see where they're available in Australia and - believe it or not - they're available right from the Apple Store which means express free shipping etc so an order has been placed . Whatever mic you are using you will get this problem if its sitting directly above the computer. I've moved my Rode mic over to another purch to the side of the desk, and though its not very convenient it cuts down the hum and vibration quite a bit. I speak pretty close to the mic without encouraging pops. Sometimes I use a bit of base roll-off in the audio editor. One more thing which can help is a mic shock mount, which should isolate the mic from stand-borne noise. Hope some of that helps. Re: need helping with humming on blue yeti pro.
I would try not using the mic stand that comes with the mic. Use a boom stand and mount the mic that way so that it's not on the desk at all. - Original Message - From: "angel.adorno1" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Friday, February 14, 2014 6:30 AM Subject: Re: need helping with humming on blue yeti pro. no not electrical humming. I pick up the mic off the desk and the sound goes away. my mic is a usb mic does that need to be grounded as well. - Original Message - From: "Brian Olesen" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Friday, February 14, 2014 5:33 AM Subject: Re: need helping with humming on blue yeti pro. hi, and are you 100 % sure it's not electrical humming? you can check that by touching it while you record. if it stops then it's a grounding problem. What I have done to get rid of this humming is to place the mic stand on a thick pad of foam rubber. This works for me. This is a very sensitive mic!
