Hi,
oh no. jaws can also handle this.
press b to muted botton and activate it with enter.
then right arrow afew times into the word muted and use jaws to pc.
the trick is now to click afew characters to the left of the muted botton
then you'll get sound back on again.

Actually jaws handles the flash buttons better then NVDA.

Pressing the unmute button didn't work for me either, so I guess the problem

But now it has happened to me also!

My youtube seems to have been muted. I can find an unmute button but

If I right click within the flash area and go to settings, I can also find

Any help?

Important thing is to use jaws-key z first to turn off the virtual cursor
otherwise it will not work. Tab to the mute button and use up arrow to
increase the volume.

If you close the browser and go back to play a youtube video / audio
you have to repeat the process to get the audio back.

List, there's one final thing I forgot to say.

  After using the arrow key
to increase the volume, you must hit insert key z to turn back on your
  virtual cursor.

I'm using XP and IE 8 with Jaws 14. How do I keep youtube audio from
muting every time I re-open it? Does anyone know who caused this problem?
Was it flash, or youtube itself. This is agrivating. Thanks. Joe.

2013-10-05 Thread Tom

OK folks, I think the youtube issue has been beaten to death.
Please do not post any additional messages on this topic. It
actually turned into a screen reader issue and nothing to do
with audio.

Thank you.

Lin out/in discrepancy

2013-10-05 Thread Walter Ramage
Hi all. This is just a fishing exercise to see if anybody has experienced
the same problem and if they found a solution. I have a custom built
computer and I play my music on my external drives via the PCs line out and
into the line in on my Arcam Solo Neo mini system. When I play a CD or use
the DAB radio on this system the quality is good and I can play it at a high
level. However when I switch the source to the input I use for my PC the
volume level is much lower. If I boost the volume to the point I like it
but for get to turn down the volume before I move to CD or DAB then I very
near blow off my wig. I have all the volume sliders at max in the control
panel but the volume is still too low.

The only way I have been able to remedy this problem is to use a headphone
amplifier and this helps raise the volume but not equalling the CD or DAB
volume and I guess since these are integral to the system they are not using
a line in source. The piece of kit I'm using is the Arcam R-Pack DAC and
headphone amplifier. I tried the line level connection with good quality
inter connects but this didn't increase the volume of my PC. I then
switched to the headphone output which has volume controls and this helped a
lot. Has anyone encountered this problem and if so, did you resolve it and
how did you do this? Walter.

How do I get more speed out of my usb cd drive when ripping with cdex

2013-10-05 Thread Larry

Hello Listers,

I have a rather frustrating issue with my HP cd usb drive, and have
for a long time, but have now become frustrated enough to try to get
something done about it. No matter what setting I use within CDEX, I
don't seem to get anything but what seems to be something like the
lowest ripping speed possible. I do not have this problem when using
Nero for copying data from my hard drive to a cd, but CDEX is a real
head scratcher for me when it comes to ripping.

I have the drive setting set to the standard setting for ripping, and
44 for drive speed, and have tried other drive settings, well at
least the one associated with HP drives, but that one will rip to a
file, but give me absolutely no audio, but only some faint sounding
beeping noises, which aren't very helpful. As it is, I swear, it
takes me maybe about 1 third or more of the time it would take to
listen to the cd to rip the things.

I am currently using 1.70 beta 2. I think this is the latest build. I
am also still using XP if that might be a factor, but some how I
don't think so.

Anyway, if someone could give me an optimum setting or two to try, it
would be greatly appreciated,

Larry
