But wouldn't a higher bit rate MP3 be of higher quality, albeit a little,
rather than a lot? It may be relative, considering the song you're
listening to, though.

there is a huge fallacy in assuming a 300kbps mp3 is going to sound better
than a 128kbps mp3. by definition,mp3 is a lossy format that degrades the
sound from a lossless WAV or flac format. So using a 300kbps mp3 is
like.ummm, using a 20gallon bucket to carry only 5 gallons of water..

I just used it a couple of days ago and it didn't ask for anything like a

I found the edit field and pasted the URL from YouTube in it I then checked
the radio button for high quality.
then tabbed and entered on convert.

I then just waited for the download button to appear.

There is some way you can have an account and it will e-mail the download
link but I don't remember if they asked for that after you hit the convert
button or not.

did you wait for a while then look for a download button?

I tried to get something from this site but YouTube would not let them have
the video to get the music from. so sometimes these sites are not allowed to
get the audio from the video. so you just have to wait and see if it gives
you a download button or not.

Hello.

I have come across a couple of platform independent websites that easily let
you paste in a youtube URL and quickly convert it to a mp3 and offer it for
free download. My challenge is finding such a service that converts to a
high bit rate mp3 that is greater than 128kbps. Do you know of any such
online service that offers a high bit rate mp3 free of charge. .

Or you could make a playlist and save it so u only have to make it once.

Re: Trouble with youtubetomp3.com

2012-03-28 Thread Steve Jacobson
There are aspects of this than can be confusing. However, a higher bit rate
will only be of higher
quality if the original is of a higher quality than the copy you are making.
Up-converting from a lower
quality won't necessarily improve the sound. That doesn't mean that there are
not cases where up-
converting might not be a good idea. For example, I just learned that I Tunes
will only store MP3's of
a certain bit-rate in the cloud. You might have to convert a slower bit-rate
to a higher one to take
advantage of that. In the case of YouTube, it is always hard to know from my
experience what the bit
rate of the original is. You might want to use a faster bit-rate just to be
sure you aren't loosing
anything,. However, using a bit rate of 320KBPS does not guarantee that what
you have is the same as
making a 320KBPS version of audio that originated on a CD that was an original
purchase. When music is
passed around, it is only as good as the slowest bit rate in the chain. If
someone puts a 128KBPS MP3
onto a CD, the CD version will for the mostpart faithfully reproduce the
original including any
negatives introduced by the encoder that produced the 128KBPS file.

Now, it is possible that additional distortion is introduced by whatever
decoder is playing the 128KBPS
file and that the original sounds better than it does on a specific player and
that can confuse the
issue some, but increasing the bit-rate isn't going to magically bring back
quality that was lost. Some
of this is very subjective, though. If you take a 128KBPS file and convert it
to a 320KBPS file and it
sounds better, it could be that you have a player that plays 320KBPS files
better. There are variables
like this that could cause one to want all of their recordings to be at a
higher bit-rate, but it would
be incorrect to think that quality is actually being added when converting from
a lower bit-rate.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

windows media player problems

2012-03-28 Thread André van Deventer
Hi folks

Using jaws 13, windows 7 and windows media player 12.

For some reason Windows Media player does not now want to play any streams
from the internet.

This happened after I tried to play a protected file on it. This is a
ripped cd on my hard drive which was ripped in wma lossless in protected
mode by mistake.

I got the usual message that a license was downloaded now and I could play
the file. However, when I closed media player and tried to play the file it
froze. After a time a message appeared saying something like a server that
could not be found.

Since then for some strange reason I am also unable to play streamed content
on windows media player from the internet.

All unprotected content however works fine.

Any advice?

Re: Tagging Multiple Files with Winamp

2012-03-28 Thread Brett Boyer

Ok hopefully I can help.
When you're in the playlist window of winamp press control n to start a new
playlist. Use shift l to add folders. Find the folder you want to add and
press enter. No music will play but the files will be added. Do this
repeatedly until you get all folders in to the list. Then if you have
individual files use l instead of shift l and add all the files you want, i
believe you can only do one file at a time.
You can use control b and control z to go to the end and beginning of your
playlist. You should be able to look at your playlist with your up and down
arrow keys. Note these only work in the playlist window. If you tried adding
folders or files in the main window they would open and they would not add
to anything.
While in the playlist window u can randomize or reverse your playlist too
control r reverses and control shift r randomizes.

Last but not least press control s to save your playlist.
Please note that like most things in windows or computer there many
different ways to accomplish the same task, so other people might use a
different method.

good luck and let me know if i can help with anything

Ok here we go again
The way I tag multiple files is by using the playlist window in
winamp. I create a playlist of all the files I want to tag then i use
control plus a to select all. At this point I use my right mouse
button to open the context menu, go to the "send to" submenu and in
there is an autotagger item. Hit enter on that and away you go.
Now, I have had a few times where the wrong menu would pop up so I
would have to route my mouse cursor before the right click.
After autotag is complete you can look through the list of all items.
if winamp isn't sure if a tag is correct the item will not be checked
so it's a good idea to take a glance at the list of files. If there is
a file that is unchecked use the tab key to listen to the old data
versus the new data and see if you like it anyway. Sometimes I've had
such a big list I just clicked the check all button and hoped for the
best.
Remember to hit the apply button after you've looked through the list.
If you need more help don't hesitate I've done this many times and I
am amazed at how well winamp finds tags, even with little information.

Any advice?

Andre

Help with Adobe Audition 1.5.

2012-03-28 Thread Mike Mote
Hi folks! I need to use Adobe Audition version 1.5 for a future project. Does
anyone have scripts or know where I could possibly find some for the program?

Re: Tagging Multiple Files with Winamp

Well this is coming in late to this thread, but once you get to know the
features of MP3 Tag Studio, which is a paid program by the way, it's well
worth it. If you're tagging an album's worth of files, you can go through
and set it up once to ignore the 01 - in front of the track name, go to tag
from file name, then tag by autotag and fill in the fields and it does it
all at once. It took a little time to learn the program, but I wouldn't be
without it.

I should also add that foobar 2000's tagging features r quite nice. Very
customizable. However I haven't found there autagger, as far as using the
internet database is very good.

But you can do many things with filenames and tags.

I also had a problem with Media Player 12 last Christmas when I tried to
play a movie that apparently had some type of copy protection. I got a
message from Media Player that said something to the effect that it could
not apply the protection to the output device and suggested that I update my
video driver. I switched from JFW to the NVDA screen reader, and the movie
played. I think the mirror driver used by JAWS for Windows 13 was
interfering with Media Player 12.

I and many many others on Win7 and stuck with wmp12 have such and other
problems with wmp12. so there is nothing wrong on your end, instead its
WMP12. If you go to your fave search engine and look up 'fix wmp12 error'
then you will find some good resources acknowledging the inherent wmp12
problems and offer you some suggestions to fix them.
However I can tell you to keep your hopes realistic as despite trying out
the diff tools and utilities and such that popped up doing the search, they
fixed my problem on one of my 2 win7 laptops. WMP12 on the other win7
laptop just refuses to get fixed. So you may be in or out of luck...you
need to try out the fixes you find on the web yourself and see if it works
for your computer.

good luck!

Turn off JAWS. Since thwe mirror driver is on at that point, WMP thinks you
are trying to pirate the DVD and it doesn't let it self play it.

Re: windows media player problems

2012-03-28 Thread Gary King
I know that NVDA doesn't use a mirror driver, and that's why I decided to
try it with the movie. I thought that Media Player would be happier with
that configuration. I do intend to try some other DVD players with that
particular movie and JAWS 13 since I want to use the OCR feature on the menu
titles. Maybe other players won't complain about the copy protection.
