Re: Converting stereo .mp3s to mono

2010-06-14 Thread Joel Deutsch
Hi, Barry,,

Again, I say that I tried to do this your way, but the list of mp3 files
that I wanted to reencode would not appear in the window. Only a path to the
Program Files\CDex folder.

I think I need more extensive instructions. More explicit.

Thank you very much,
Joel

You can use CDEX to convert a stereo MP3 file to a mono MP3 file and the
program is free. In the configuration encoder settings,
choose mono and the bitrate you want, then from the convert menu choose
re-encode compressed audio file.

Subject: Converting stereo .mp3s to mono

Hi all,

I've lost my hearing in one ear (the left) because of a complicated brain
tumor story. But when I work out, I still prefer to have some rock music in
one ear bud.

I have a copy of EZ CD/DVD Creator, a fairly recent build, and the designer
sent me a file he said would merge to two channels for me.

But it involves a file extension that neither I nor my Windows XP Home has
ever heard of, and I can't run the file and get a list of mono preferences
for bps rate to appear beneath the stereo output options.

Can anyone help? It's kind of primitive, audio-wise, to go back to mono like
early Beatles records, but I gotta do it.

Thanks,
Joel

Registering Sam Encoder with JAWS

2010-06-14 Thread Wayne Merritt
Greetings. I'm having trouble registering the Sam Encoder that I
bought today. I've successfully put in my registration code, but when
I click the OK button with the mouse/JAWS cursor, I'm given an error
message. The message says that the Encoder can't write to the
winamp.gui.ini file. Can anyone offer assistance? I'm wanting to get
this up and running since for one thing, it gets annoying to have that
nagging screen prompting me to purchase the product pop up. But also
because I need a relatively simple means of connecting to the
broadcast server and recording my shows. I'm open to using other
software, but would need the steps to be in a simple/basic form. I'm
need to get this done since I want to record a test show for an
Internet station so i can hopefully become a broadcaster.

Many thanks,
Wayne

no problem. It can be a bit confusing if you do not know to look for the
register button. It is easy to think you just have to click on ok.

Re: Converting stereo .mp3s to mono

2010-06-14 Thread Barry Chapman
Hi Joel,

I have only done this for one or two files at a time and have always put them
in the CDEX directory. If you press enter on select
all and then convert it should work. This won't select any of the other files
in the folder, since they are not compressed audio
files.

I agree that putting them there isn't the ideal solution, but I have just spent
some time trying to change it and like you, can't
find how to. Perhaps someone else can say if they have found a way.

I have only done one, two or three at a time. There is a flag which is
supposed to give you the option to have them deleted from
there once they have been converted, but it doesn't appear to work in the
latest version of CDEX. There is a checkbox to look in
subfolders, so if you create a folder under CDEX and put all of the MP3 files

Barry,

Thanks. I just converted half a dozen files successfully. Or I think. I'll
have to try to play them on my Sansa.

The subfolder seems a good idea to keep things clean. But when they're
converted, they go to my documents/my music/mp3 and have to be copies to my
Sansa from there. That works. I think.
