RE: (blindo's inn) Digital Audio Recorders - Edirol R09HR vs Zoom H4N

2010-04-07 Thread Amie Slavin
Hi Danny
I haven't owned either of these but would suggest that if you're happy with
their sound quality you might as well get the Plextalk Pocket recorder which
is about as good and completely accessible.
Just my thought.

Hi everyone. Apologies if this is off topic, but I was told that a
similar issue has recently been discussed here, so I'm acting in good
faith. If the subject has already been exhausted on list, any private
assistance would be much appreciated. My email address is

Best wishes, Danny

Hi everyone. Sorry, another nerdy conversation on the way.

I'm looking to purchase a new audio recorder, and am stuck between the
Edirol R09HR and the Zoom H4N. Both look good for different reasons
(the Zoom looks particularly good as I understand you can use
different microphones to record different channels with it), but I'm
not sure about how accessible they are. If anybody has used either of
these machines, I'd be grateful for any info on features or
accessibility which they'd be happy to share. If somebody has used or
tried both, a comparison would also be really appreciated.

Thanks as always, Danny

I can install rock box and have it talk. Rock box won't work on later
versions of firmware with this MP3 player. Tiger direct has a
reconditioned fuse for a good price of only $39, but they can't say
what firmware it has on it so I'd be taking a chance in getting it and
may possibly have to send it back and lose money in shipping if its
the wrong one. Does anyone know where I can get a Sansa Fuse that
would have the V 1 firmware on it at a good price? Thanks, Joe.

Lame encoder question

2010-04-07 Thread Donald L. Roberts
I am using an older version of the Lame encoder to create mp3 files with Total
Recorder and with Goldwave. What is the exact procedure to replace the
existing version of Lame with the current one which I think is 3.98?

Thanks.

I'm sure that Total Recorder has a complete tutorial and accompanying links for
this topic in its help file.

Re: Lame encoder question

2010-04-07 Thread Donald L. Roberts
Tom,

Neither Total Recorder nor GoldWave come with a codec to record mp3 files. I
do not recall why this is. But the docs for each program tell you that you
have to install an external codec in order to create mp3 files. In fact, they
give you the url for the Lame encoder.
