Sound Card Scripting
Hi All: I am an old programmer type. Since there is so much trouble with Sound Cards I am wondering if anyone has tried scripting for a sound card. First, the card software or the Operating System needs to make some scriptable information available and it is usually called MSAA for Microsoft Active Accessiblity. This is one of the scriptable data points that Windoweyes uses, I am not sure about JAWS. So, my question is actually, do you script for the individual sound card or do you script the Operating System when you want to set options? RE: Sound Card Scripting
Rick, I would guess that in the case of cards with proprietary drivers, you'd need to script the card software itself. In the case of Creative, this is imperative, since a great deal of the functionality is only available via creative software. The MSAA route is a bit of a non-starter here, and I guess you'd probably benefit by using something like hot spot clicker, because many of the buttons and sliders are graphic. Essentially, you'd need to map various keys to hsc, that would be a good start. With hsc, you can not only map keys, but also get jaws to announce what you want. Whether the same thing is available under WE, I don't know. If it isn't, I'd guess you need to set up a series of small virtual windows, and map keys to click on them. Hope this helps, David. -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of RicksPlace Sent: 13 December 2009 10:29 To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Sound Card Scripting Hi All: I am an old programmer type. Well I've been sort of following this thread with interest as I think that the Audigy 2 sound card I have is made by Creative labs (not completely sure of this)..but I can change my tone control by going into the system tray, then to "volume"..then to '"advanced"..apparently this is where you're getting stuck? Re: Another sound card question
hello, most likely the reason why there might not be tone controlls on alot of soundcards is because in whatever media player you use to play music they give you eq's. i use itunes and its very accessible. and its completely free. i am getting absolutely killer sound from using itunes. because there eq gives you pre-sets and also you can create your own personal settings and save them as defaults. very simple and easy to use. les Cd/Dvd Duplication & Custom Printing Customer Service Les Gordon Phone: (267)329-8150 email: sa...@cdrdvdr.com web: http://www.cdrdvdr.com - Original Message - From: "Dave McElroy WA6BEF" To: "'PC Audio Discussion List'" Sent: Monday, December 14, 2009 12:48 AM Subject: RE: Another sound card question That's been my problem as well. Yes, I do have the advanced on the record side, but gosh darn it I just want some tone control access. Seems like it shouldn't be too much to ask but I guess it is. -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of robert Doc Wright Sent: Sunday, December 13, 2009 7:44 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: Another sound card question I have a sound blaster live and a sigmatel audio and in both cases advance appears as unavailoble. - Original Message - From: "Sunshine" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Sunday, December 13, 2009 10:03 AM Subject: Re: Another sound card question my card shows the advanced controls when it is unavaible. what card are you using? - Original Message - From: "robert Doc Wright" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Sunday, December 13, 2009 3:10 AM Subject: Re: Another sound card question Not in all cases. In many cases it will show as unavailable and advance will not show as an choice among volume, wave, etc. - Original Message - From: "Sunshine" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Saturday, December 12, 2009 9:17 PM Subject: Re: Another sound card question ok, also you have to remember that when it says unavaible then that means that it is checked. - Original Message - From: "robert Doc Wright" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Saturday, December 12, 2009 9:38 PM Subject: Re: Another sound card question His advance is disabled. - Original Message - From: "Frank Brown" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Saturday, December 12, 2009 1:52 PM Subject: Re: Another sound card question Hello, Appologies if this has already been covered in this thread. Open the Windows Volume Control and press the alt keyto get to the options menu. Arrow down past the properties dialog and you'll hit the advanced controls checkbox. Make sure this is checked. Depending on the card you'll either get tone controls or the ability to boost your mic gain by 10db. It varies with the card and I have come across both. HTH.
