2008-06-04 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hello!
One thing i have found out when using the stream companion is that yu can
not select all notes end convert them in to wav files.
I think this is really bad because if you have many notes you'll have a lot
of extra work to do.
Or maybe blind people have extra time in their life-).

High Josh,
Isn't there something your internet provider can do about that?
I ask because DSL has gotten faster sense the last past 8 years.
You may wish to call or email them and ask them to increase the speed for
you.
My best regards.

Re: Is this TV thing real?

2008-06-04 Thread Rick Harmon
He's probably getting about 100 Kilo Bytes per second the stream is
requiring 300 Kilo Bits per second. So he should be fine. His DSL speed is
about 1 Mega Bit per second and is normal depending on his package and
distance from his switch.

Hello Tom,
I don't know exactly where you are here in the states, but most reps that I
spoke to, said that this service is not yet available.
If this is true, then why do they advertise it on their website?
I have been trying to get that thing to work for another blind friend of

Even my sighted wife can't get Comcast On Demand to work for my friend
either.
If anyone else is more successful on this list with this then we are, please

What does one do in the case where one has changed one's email

one's Skype login information or delete one's old account and create a
new one? Should one just create the new one and forget about the old
one? Do they ever clean these things up?

RE: Comcast On Demand

2008-06-04 Thread Dan Kerstetter
First of all, the Comcast on demand is not useable by a blind person. For
now, comcast's answer to accessibility is to give you a nice big remote that
you can at least use for surfing. As far as I know, the on demand content
isn't accessible at all.

Can Winamp Play Files continuously

2008-06-04 Thread GianniP46
Hey guys,
When I play a bunch of files in winamp by selecting them and pressing enter or
when playing a CD from my CD ROM drive, winamp stops after each song. Is there
a way of having winamp playing through a bunch of files or cds continuously?
Thanks!

Re: Comcast On Demand

2008-06-04 Thread Josh
Hi,
I think maybe we should get together and try to get bills passed that would
force companies like comcast and video game companies to make their equiment
and video games accessible. No idea how to go about doing this though. but
something has to be done. what happens in the year 2050 and beyond when our
generation or the next generation of old people will be demanding games they
can play but wait! they can't play games because they have failing eyesight.

Hi All, Ok, more TV JLC questions?
I would like to download this free program but before I do, I would like
to know a little more.
If there is anyone that can assist with its user friendly hints that work
with Jaws, please do so.
Upon download, is there anything to watch out for, or not to click on or
stay away from?
Once downloaded, does it interrupt jaws or shut down sound?
Magic Jack shut off my sound and reset files, does this JLC do any such
thing?
I use Englishfrom , USA and like to keep it all simple, is this possible?

Re: More questions about Is this TV thing real?

2008-06-04 Thread Barry Chapman
I sent a message to the list a few days ago about JLC's Internet TV as follows
which you must have missed.

The program is free. You just download it from
www.jlc-software.com/index.php?page=internet_tv.html and install it. There are
no
special installation options for screen reader users and it doesn't mess up any
of your settings.

For JAWS users, to run the program following installation:

1. Launch the program.

2. Shift-tab to the combo box of countries.

3. Down arrow to the country you want.

4. Tab once to the list of TV stations in that country.

5. Down arrow to the station you want and press enter. Wait 30 seconds or so
for it to load. Note that not all stations are on air
24/7, so some might not work when you try them.

6. When focussed on a station in the list, you can press the application key
for more options, such as to go to their home page.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Barry Chapman

RE: More questions about Is this TV thing real?

2008-06-04 Thread albert griffith
You should read more carefully please. The man stated it did nothing to
mess up settings for jaws users and you asked if there were any conflicts.
Please explain? Since we're none of us in the business of reviewing tech
programs whether it's the best probably can't be answered. I suggest you
try some of the others and report back to us so we'll know if indeed this
one's the best. We each had to try it and take some risk and so will you.
I hope this helps.

Thank you, and I did read it but want to know more if possible.
Are there any conflitcs with jaws or magic or with my xp-home?
Is it user friendly with jaws?
Is it the best, I'm willing to pay if there is a better one out there?
Thanks for your help,
MMM
