Re: Fwd: Accessible Devices Opportunity To Have Input On The Design of NewRadio
Hi. I think what would be really cool is to have them build a radio, but instead of it being a specialized radio designed specifically for the blind, which is how this sounds, what they might be able to do is build it exactly like a regular radio ,but find some kind of a way to enable the accessibility features. These could be enabled and disabled at will, most likely through a button that is clearly marked on the radio itself or the remote, if it has one. This way, we wouldn't have to have sighted help, just to get to the features we need. so a blind person could use the unit just as readily as a sighted person could. If menus are involved, I would hope that some kind of audible clicks, or beeps, or even better, some kind of audible voice prompts could be used, making it easier to set the time on the clock, set up presets, tell what preset we're on, etc. I know a lot of radios and CD players are menu based nowadays. So if the accessibility features could be enabled and disabled, that would be a good way to do it. Brian said that he's putting the final touches on the installer, should be out next week. As far as JTunes goes, it's very handy and if you do a lot of work with iPods, a must-have. Hi, I'll vouch for the keyboard! I bought one from Jerry several years ago now. I had a minor problem, the transmitter quit working, but after complaining to gyration, they sent me a new one at no charge! I use mine in several different places, using my fm transmitter and a radio to hear the screen, reading email in bed, controlling music apps from the driveway, looking up phone numbers from the sunroom, and on and on. Re: playlist editor
Hi Peter and all, I use notepad to do this, along with the windows tool, sendto, one of the windows toys. Send to is added to your context menu, so, when you right click on a file you'd like in a playlist, choose send to and then clipboard as name. Press enter and the entire filename goes to your clipboard. Now just press control-v in an open notepad window, and the entire filename appears in your document. Save the file, when completed, to a filename with a pls or m3u extention and there you have it. I hope this helped! goldwave part 7 tutorial
Hi Everyone, Just finished up a 30 minute goldwave part 7 tutorial. It covers zoom levels where I describe exactly what it means and how it effects the markers and the play cursor. I show how to use the J, K, L keys to play rapidly or slowly forward and backwards through a file. I also talk about new key shortcuts for the markers so you can quickly move them while editing. I also talk about the keys used to play audio 3 seconds before either marker and how to play audio forward from either marker. And finally I talk about the tutorial mode in the newest scripts for GW. This is the first part that covers accessibility options being added from the developers of GW. So more to come as more is added and as I learn more about using all the new features. direct download link: http://www.blind-geek-zone.net/Audio/GoldwavePart7.mp3 Rick -- Visit my webpage and podcast feed at: http://www.blind-geek-zone.net and my web Blog at: http://blind-geek-zone.blogspot.com/ Join the BGZ mailing list by sending a blank email message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] and reply to the confirmation msg. All of those devices you mentioned need a work over for accesssibility.! - Original Message - From: "Peter Scanlon" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Friday, April 04, 2008 4:34 PM Subject: Re: Fwd: Accessible Devices Opportunity To Have Input OnTheDesignofNewRadio >I don't know if this would be possible, but it might be good if they look at > developing the technology with a view to easily transporting it to other > electronic devices. > I would rather someone work on a accessible DVD player, or TV set top box, > or audio apmplifier/tuner. > > > - Original Message - > From: "Gary G Schindler" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: "PC Audio Discussion List" > Sent: Saturday, April 05, 2008 7:04 AM > Subject: Re: Fwd: Accessible Devices Opportunity To Have Input On > TheDesignofNewRadio > > >>I agree this would be a good idea, for you don't want sighted people >>thinking this >> is a radio for mostly blind people . if that happens, it doesn't sell and >> the >> merchandise disappears from store shelves pretty quickly. >> >> - Original Message - >> From: "Gary Wood" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >> To: "PC Audio Discussion List" >> Sent: Friday, April 04, 2008 1:02 PM >> Subject: Re: Fwd: Accessible Devices Opportunity To Have Input On >> TheDesign >> ofNewRadio >> >> >>> That sounds like that would be a great idea! >>> - Original Message - >>> From: "Chris Skarstad" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >>> To: "PC Audio Discussion List" >>> Sent: Friday, April 04, 2008 4:32 AM >>> Subject: Re: Fwd: Accessible Devices Opportunity To Have Input On >>> TheDesign >>> of NewRadio >>> >>> Hi. CDex Question
I've configured CDex to rip at 320 using a lame encoder; however, when I rip the files, the size of one of the tracks, for instance, is 48 Megs. I end up with an album too large to be compressed with any good results. I would appreciate any information on how to correct this problem. Thanks. RE: CDex Question
While I rip much of my material at Windows Audio Lossless, I've learned it makes little difference with many recording produced prior to the 80's. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Barry Chapman Sent: Saturday, April 05, 2008 1:06 AM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: CDex Question Hi Dan, MP3 files ripped at 320 kBPS should be approximately 2.3 MB per minute in size, so if you have a track of 48 MB, it should be about 21 minutes in length. If it is, there is nothing you can do about it other than to rip at a lower bit rate. I find 192 to be acceptable, but some would argue that it isn't. Re: ripping audio
Hi Gary! I'm curious! You mentioned that you prefer avoiding variable options for MP3's, but I'm wondering why, since others have stated that using variable bit rates give you better quality at lower rates! - Original Message - From: "Gary Petraccaro" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Monday, March 31, 2008 4:11 PM Subject: Re: ripping audio >I highly prefer avoiding all of the variable options.
