If you press Control J while the file is playing you will get
information about how far through the file you are. This is a Winamp
feature and will therefore work with all screen readers.

An accessible player that can read CD text?

2007-10-01 Thread Ray's Home
hHi.

I'm burning off a batch of audio Cds and have identified each track
with CD text as read on the display of many players.

Wondered if any of the accessible players, like the Victor or
Plextors, can actually pick up this text so that totals have the same
convenience of knowing which track is which by simply moving between
them, rather than actually having to play them.

I know that on transcription material such as I'm working on, a clear
announcement at the start of a track is always good practice, but
nonetheless I feel that the ability to pick up on CD text, if present,
would be useful.

Comments welcomed.

While you contactors are at it, please request an accessible volume level

  Hello Folks:

I just want to encourage GoldWave users to contact Chris, (the creator of the
GoldWave audio editing software) and express your likes, dislikes, concerns,
improvement suggestions ETC. It's not often that one can have direct access to
a world class program creator who will listen, I mean, really listen.

  To contact Chris, go to:

  Thanks for listening.

I believe I am correct when I say that, even in FS, the ability to detect

I think that, in the case of JAWS users, HotSpotClicker could come to the
rescue.

Cheers.

Hi, actually it's my understanding that they don't have a trial version
available as yet. If you want to purchase the program at the reduced price,
you would be doing so in advance of release, and with no demo to try before
you buy. That's why I would hesitate. There's no guarantee that I would be
able to use the program once purchased. Probably, but not definitely. I've
been burned often enough to hesitate, ya know?

EMusic attracts an older audience than the rest of the services. This is
because they not only carry the independents but those artists who are just
a little over the line, date wise, I mean.

Re: Where can I find drivers for my soundcard? I don't have them.

2007-10-01 Thread Keith Gillard
Sure. I've seen these services before. $29 for a subscription. Your
better off searching individually for specific drivers.

I would like to hear any jfw user testimonials on this service. I think
using this service would create more problems then fixes.

Just my opinion and thanks for the link...KG

Re: Burning Audible Books to CD

2007-10-01 Thread Larry N
I'm pretty sure that they're not offering a demo either. A nasty trend isn't
it?

As for Nero, it's my understanding that the demo will coincide with the
release.

RE: Amazon MP3 download service now available

2007-10-01 Thread Blackwell, Clifford
But they have a really good world music offering!

EMusic attracts an older audience than the rest of the services. This
is because they not only carry the independents but those artists who
are just
a little over the line, date wise, I mean.

I signed up with Emusic, but could never find the titles I wanted. It
seems they specialize a lot in independent artists. I admit it was a
while back that I checked it, maybe three months ago, so maybe I'll take
it for another spin.

While I believe this is a worthwhile service, EMusic has operated
similarly
for years.
