Replay AV 8.03 Podcast Show #1 Available
Here's podcast #1 I did on Replay AV 8.03. They are not professionally done but should help those who do not own Replay AV 8.03. I use JAWS 8 here. I also have to mention that my voice was too loud on these recordings. Best I can do. Re: USB Sound Card Recommendation
Hi again Stephen. Yes, that's a good point. The Audegy would not affect jaws as I'd be using 2 sound cards. I'd really like the 2 optic connections, so perhaps the Audegy is the card for me. Best wishes. Andy - Original Message - From: "Stephen Green" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. However if you're listening to jaws via another soundcard, it might well do the job for you. Sorry I can't confirm that it does have optical in and out as I didn't get around to using them. Hi Simon. I had a look for the Audegy 2 via google and got some specifications on the device. I don't think it has Optical connections at all Simon, not unless the SPDIF's are optical? Re: one place to pre-order olympus recorder(s)
You know I can't wait to here a audio review of this device. Mr. Lang, I have heard some of your reviews on ACB Radio and sure hope you will produce one for the Olympus. I wonder if the bookmarking feature is voiced? I am also concerned that vocal notes are recorded in WMA and not MP3 format. A lot of my portable devices do not support WMA and I won't like it if I need to convert to MP3. Hi, I don't really have a list, I was just planning to sort of look around. I do want to get War with Sallimanders in better quality than I have now, as well as Robot City's dramatization, the second and third dramatizations of the lord of the Rings and all the HitchHiker's guide dramatizations. If you have them, I'd like to arrange to get them from you. I'm not sure what I can offer, I have a few daisy books and some Voyager eppisodes, but that's about it. Keith, I seem to think this recorder will play MP3 files but record in WMA which means if this is the case, I for one don't want it. Keith, you wrote: > You know I can't wait to here a audio review of this device. Mr. Lang, > I have heard some of your reviews on ACB Radio and sure hope you will > produce one for the Olympus. Yeah, but it'll probably be in German. I don't believe, that one will be able to switch between several languages on the speech output of the Olympus. Since I'll buy my machine here in Germany, it'll probably only speak German. But you can already read about the new Olympus devices on www.blindcooltech.com and I'm sure, that they'll have a fine audioreview of the machine there, quickly after it becomes available. > I am also concerned that vocal notes are recorded in WMA and not MP3 > format. If you'd take five minutes to look at the page you'd have the answer, but yes, it is free. It would be worth paying for if it wasn't; it's way better than xm, to which it is corporately related, and sirius; I subscribe to both those paid services and this is far superio with much more variety. . no, I don't think any of them are; anyway, what is listed there is much less than it was in years past. Mobile Speak Pocket
Hello! I recently purchased a Cingular 8525 PDA and downloaded Mobile Speak Pocket. If anyone ou there uses this program, could you give me an idea of how good it is? Also, I'd appreciate some info on getting the product as inexpensive as possible, as it seems to be a little steap, more expensive than the phone itself. Are there any places around that will subsidize this product. A list of these, if any, would be appreciated. Why does adaptive technology cost so much and how can we benefit from it if we can't afford it? Thanks for your assistance. RE: Can you help Clean up a very special sound recording
The recording has kind of a hiss. Well, I guess it isn't so much of a hiss, but the recording seems to have vibrations. After giving it some thought, I'm wondering if the song was recorded at a lower quality speed. The individual recording the song is visually impaired and may have accidentally switched the speed. You may know that changing the recording speed on a digital recorder is done in a manner that isn't all that accessible. Sure it can be changed without vision with some extra effort/planning, but my thought is that the menu button was accidentally pressed and the speed was accidentally changed. Not having vision, one might not know that this happened. I will ask someone with vision to check to see what speed was used to record the song. Unfortunately that won't happen for several days. A couple of nice subscribers to this list have offered to try and clean up the recording for me. One gentleman did help by adding a nice touch to the song, but neither of these individuals are too hopeful that the quality can be improved upon. By the way, let me take this opportunity to publicly thank both individuals for taking time to help. This recording is of a song that was written/performed as a tribute for an individual who recently passed away. The song has helped us (especially me) cope with the loss of our friend. I just want to try to get a better recording before I share it with others. As I said, perhaps the speed was altered. If so I will ask that the song be recorded again. The recording in question is a song that was recorded on a Olympus 3100 digital recorder. There is just a bit of distortion and/or vibration from time to time. I am going to upload the song to my computer this weekend and want to clean it up if possible. The song is very special to many people. It was written for a good friend and co-worker who recently passed away. Hello Tom After reading the messages, I can certainly see why you may have some concerns. It is entirely possible that he was having a bad day or was just being abbrupt for whatever reason. Personally I think your action of banning him was a tad extreme, but everyone runs their lists differently, and there also may have been private correspondence I didn't see. You do run the list however and it is your decision to make. At 07:10 PM 1/13/2007, you wrote: >Ladies and gentlemen, > >Lynne King has been banned from subscribing to the PC-Audio >list. what profanities and what bad language? I never had a mail from this list pertaining to that off of this list. as a manager off a couple of email lists, I had to ban a certain member from my groups, as they were blatantly using bad language, whilst I am not a prood, there were women and kids on that particular list so I had no choice but to ban the member in question. also, I don't think that you should announce the banning of a member publicly unless its merited. hth - Original Message - From: "Tom" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Sunday, January 14, 2007 1:10 AM Subject: Member Has Been Banned From The PC-Audio List > Ladies and gentlemen, > > Lynne King has been banned from subscribing to the PC-Audio > list. Re: the best settings to use when extracting audio off of a dvd with dvd audio extractor
There's a quality of the algorith setting. I'd set that to its highest level. Aside from that, the same rules of thumb apply as do to regular sound recording. If the dVD is a mono DVD, choose the mono setting or else you're simply wasting bandwidth by requesting stereo where no stereo is present. Ideally, in a mono recording, you would like to take only the left or right channel, but this is rarely an option with rippers of any kind. For my Get Smart collection, I chose MP3's of 96K, sticking with the 48KHz default. For a stereo DVD, I would use 192K MP3's (96 times 2). These are my personal preferences, opinions may vary. bruce -- Bruce Toews Skype ID: o.canada E-mail and MSN/Windows Messenger: [EMAIL PROTECTED] LiveJournal: http://brucetola.livejournal.com Radio Show and Podcast: http://www.totw.net Web Site (including info on my weekly commentaries): http://www.ogts.net Info on the Best TV Show of All Time: http://www.cornergas.com On Sat, 13 Jan 2007, Wollner wrote: > Hi I have DVD audio extractor up and running. Hi! Nothing to do with me of course but if people have issue with any steps a moderator of a list takes then I for one would be pleased (as a list member) that those people who have issues to raise with the moderator would do so privately rather than publically? I joined PC- Audio to read about thigns to do with audio and not to her people's gripes about what the moderator of the list does or doesn't do. Wait just a minute. Wile I'll agree that the once off S bomb is nothing to be upset over, I did see some of Lin's messages where he got on people's cases for maybe not taking the time to read the whole page, this that and the other, like everyone has to be as intuitive as he. One of the people who protested the bann said he thought this list was to help people. In Lin's case, he was being somewhat helpful, but in a way that can be a bit offputting, especially for those people who may not be as literate in some forms of computing as other forms. How would you feel if you had a question and you asked, and someone came at you with an answer like, "RTFM!" I sympathize with listers who don't want to read another message off-topic like this, but considering some of the criticism received, I feel it's important to lend support to someone doing a task calling for many sensitive judgments with the skill and care Tom has shown. Re: Member Has Been Banned From The PC-Audio List
Hi Tom, i will say something here being the moderator of two other lists. If you Ban someone don't announce it on the list. You now probably know this considering the comments given on list. I shouldn't even say this on list but will in hopes that other mods will see the consequences of announcing business on list. Tom from what I've seen you seem to be a good moderator so don't feel too bad it happens to everyone sooner or later. Hi Dane I fully respect your point of view, but I think removing a person from a list is a very harsh thing to do, and there is a significant risc that a blind person easely get trapped in the fact that when he get some power he will for many reasons use it more agressevely then it actually requires. there for I hope the moderator will try to get into a dialog with the person about re subscribing to the list after a period of time he decides. I agree, but making a public announcement was foolish and unnecessary.Well said, Joy. Gangstress of love indeed. I'd like to add that Tom has run this list in his short time as moderator with civility, grace and intelligence. I sympathize with listers who don't want to read another message off-topic like this, but considering some of the criticism received, I feel it's important to lend support to someone doing a task calling for many sensitive judgments with the skill and care Tom has shown. If you go down through the chapters menu while an eppasode is playing you will find the browser. Hit enter on the browser. you will find a tree view with the current eppasode opened. close the eppasode and open the next eppasode and the first and the first chapter. At the end of the eppasode that is playing hit the tab button and you will find the go button. Hit the space bar on go and you will be in the next eppasode. You have time to do this while the credits and theem music is playing at the end of the eppasode. On Jan 13, 2007, at 10:36 PM, Doc wrote: > Have you tried using windows media player? Ok, well I'm not an expert here because I don't use multi track software on my PC but if there are scripts for Adobe Audition then that would seem to be a logical choice and perhaps Vegas. Re: multi track software that works well or at all with jaws
Hang on a moment, are we talking about multi track software as in the software used to record multi tracks for music or are we talking about broadcasting software, at least one of the titles mentioned here I think is a broadcasting package which is far different to multi track recording/editing software.
