yes, I'm using Jaws6.2.
Try downloading it again, and installing again.

be aware that in this, the very latest version of skype version
 2.5.0.146,
during the initial install, you will of course have the language
 selection
box, the check box for the license accept / decline box and a new
 friend,
the google tool bar. i happen to not be at all faund of the google tool
 bar
so, please be aware that there is yet a third check box that your
 assistive
software should inform you about, it is the google tool bar, and it has
 up
until this skype version never existed in the installer rooteen up
 until
 this point.

be aware of it, and if you want it, you can leave the box in its
 default
state which in my case was actually checked or smash your space bar on
 it,
and uncheck it, and proceed to the finish button to fully set up this
 new
 update of skype 2.5.0.146.

Hi Roger! I tried installing the new version of Skype, and I found
 that
 I
can't do it, because it seems to me that the installer is not very
accessible this time. I go to where it says, "Checkbox not checked,"
 and
where it says English, and so on but I can't seem to get to the other
 places
where I need to install the program. Does anyone else have this much
 trouble with Skype 2.5?

2006-10-05 Thread Bruce Toews
When you check the initial checkbox, I believe you're simply agreeing to
the user agreement. When you hit next, you will then be asked, accessibly
and with no difficulty, if you want to install the Google toolbar. You can
say know and the universe will unfold as it should ... at least in this
respect.

Re: skype 2.5

2006-10-05 Thread Gary Wood
Arthur, I downloaded Skype again, and have the same problems. All I get is
a "checkbox not checked," so I press the spacebar to uncheck it, then tab
over to where I was at first, where it says, "English," and then go to the
"checkbox not checked," again. That's all Jaws says. It doesn't read what
the checkbox is that's not checked, and when I uncheck it, I go over and
find a repetition of the same thing again. What can I do, short of
downloading the previous version again which works all right? Maybe if I
can't install it, I can just leave it alone, because the previous version
works just fine!

The only thing I think audible didn't have enough variety of is radio shows,
mostly NPR stuffHi heard of a service called audiofeast but they went out of
service before I upgraded to XP. I've been looking for good ways to get
syndicated radio shows I heard a few times and liked that aren't around here
any more or whatever for a long time. Nothing really came until Replay AV
for that though.

Re: skype 2.5

2006-10-05 Thread Sarah
There is a check box that reads sort of nicely and it's actually the yahoo
tool bar, I tink. well either way any tool bar like that is bad. lol. If
you can see the check box hit space to uncheck it and read the link to make
sure it is unchecked. Jaws wil sometimes missread that.

2006-10-05 Thread Curtis Delzer
Hi everyone. When I updated my replay a/v 7.21 to version 7.32, all
my shows were gone, though they claimed that all shows would be
intact after updating. After I reprogrammed in all the shows I
wanted, after a crash during recording one night, the next day, all
shows were gone again. Anyone else had this problem with the update
to replay a/v?

Re: CD Changer controlled by PC

2006-10-05 Thread Brent Harding
There used to be some sort of boxes that hooked to some of these and went to
the parallel or serial port. I think they worked with some Pioneer ones, but
that was something I think was mostly a radio thing that required old Dos
software. I don't know if any advances were made in this area. I always
wondered too if CD-Rom changers existed for the computer, meant for computer
CD's that might also do music ones?

Hi Gary,
if you install the gogle toolbar,
go to the Ctrl Panel, and click on add/remove, and in there you will be able
to remove the Google toolbar.

using compression

2006-10-05 Thread Richard Claypool
Hi,

Here's what I'd like to do. I'd like to mix a vocal track overtop of a
music track. As I speak, I'd like to have the music drop .. you know ..
general compression.

I can do a mix in goldwave, but it's a set mix. is there a way to get the
desired effect of what i want with goldwae, or would I need soundforge? I
could, I know, use winamp, but i only hae one working soundcard dew to the
fact I only only have one working set of headphones right now. ..

Any help would be appriciated.

Rick

US Official: AllofMP3 Must Shut Down
By Ed Oswald,
BetaNews
October 5, 2006, 11:43 AM

The United States is continuing to pressure Russia to shut down the
music site allofmp3.com,
with a top trade official saying Wednesday it would be hard to see
the country being
a member of the WTO with the site still operating in the country.

Calls for AllofMP3's demise are again surfacing as the two countries
attempt to restart
negotiations for Russia to enter the international trade group. Talks
stalled in
July after persistent disagreements related to agriculture and
intellectual property
issues.

Representatives from both Russia and the U.S. will meet in Geneva,
Switzerland next
week with a goal of having an agreement by the end of this month.
However, it is
likely a non-negotiable stipulation of the talks will be the shutting
down of the
music site.

AllofMP3 claims it has licenses from Russian Multimedia and Internet
Society (ROMS)
and the Rightholders Federation for Collective Copyright Management
of Works Used
Interactively (FAIR).

However, neither the U.S. nor Britain recognize those licenses, and
the British music
industry sued the site in July. Joining the WTO has been a publicly
stated goal of Russian President Putin,
and he has begun to talk about intellectual property rights issues in
the country
recently.

"The dialogue is continuing. We're making progress slowly but
steadily and we'll
see if we can get there," US Trade Representative Susan Schwab was
quoted by Reuters
as saying to reporters. "There's no guarantee that we'll get it done."

2006-10-05 Thread Brandon Hicks
Hi list,
This amounts to the U.S. trying to shove others around again. I, for
one, hope that Russia refuses to shut the site down, mainly to show the
US that they're not the be all and end all of the world. It really
disturbs me when things like this happen, and I really hope the site
stays up. I personally don't use it, but I know a lot on this list do,
so I'm definitely cheering for Russia on this one.

I hope so too. It doesn't matter what licensing bodies they need to pay to
distribute music over there as long as whoever needs to be paid is paid,
which it sounds like is the case. A lot of it probably trickles back here

my shows were gone, though they claimed that all shows would be
intact after updating. After I reprogrammed in all the shows I
wanted, after a crash during recording one night, the next day, all
shows were gone again. Anyone else had this problem with the update

Re: Article: US Official: AllofMP3 Must Shut Down

2006-10-05 Thread Gary Wood
Quite a few years ago, my dad and I were listing to some big band music. He
said that the recording industry killed the big bands. Maybe they say
they're supposed to be for the artists, but maybe they're killing off
creativity in the music business. I hope I'm not sounding like a jerk, butt
it's just something to think about, and just my two cents worth!
