CDX is the best one. Just put the CD on the CD ROM, & open the program CDX.
On the main window, the tracks from the media are all listed & start

Why can't I play that?

2006-09-23 Thread Fazil M.
Hi, List.

I am trying to play some video clips at:
http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=Afzal+Bashir+Bajwa

These are the video clips of an evening of poetry, where some poets from
India/Pakistan recited their poetry in their languages before the audience.
The name of a poet is a link, and my understanding is that it can be played by
activating that link, isn't it?
When I activate the name of a poet, it takes me to another screen but doesn't
play that.
For instance, the name mentioned in the above link is Afzal Bashir Bajwa, and
when I activate the
Afzal Bashir Bajwa link, it doesn't play.
Am I doing something wrong?
Your help is much appreciated.
Thanks much!
Regards.

Re: Why can't I play that?

2006-09-23 Thread Dana S. Leslie
Fazil,

They play fine for me. But they play in IE, itself, not in any media player.
when I click on any of the poets' names, I don't go to another page; the
clip simply starts playing in IE, while the same page continues to be
displayed. To stop the clip, I have to exit IE, altogether.

Do you have "play sounds in web pages" and "Play videos in web pages"
enabled, in the Internet Options Advanced Page? I haven't tested to see if
the clips won't play if I disable these options. but, that's where I'd start
experimenting.

Good luck.

Blessed Be,

Dana

Re: Ripping Tracks.

2006-09-23 Thread Howard Traxler
CDex is great! you get the tracks in a vertical column--you even get all
the information if you let it go out to dccb for it--. On that list, do
control a to select the whole list, or select the ones you want, then pull
down the convert menu, alt c, and choose wave or compressed and his enter.

RE: winamp pro

2006-09-23 Thread denise avant
Hello samuel and the rest,
Yes your right. Once you gave me the instructions telling me what to look
for, I was able to find the boxes and buttons I needed. However, I did have
to arrow around a little more than usual, and control tab didn't either
speak or work the way it should have, which makes me think I don't have the
most up-to-date scripts of jfw. I'm running jfw 7.10 and winamp pro 5. are
there more recent scripts other than the one provided in jfw 7.10. or
perhaps there are some additional settings I need to do.
Also, I noticed that when I started to rip a cd, winamp said playback
error, rip music in progress ok. Winamp had already started ripping the cd
or at least I heard the disk drive. Once I clicked on ok, it continued
ripping and the mp3 files were just fine. But I'm wondering why I got the
error message in the first place.
Thanks.

Easy. This is how you do it. 1. Launch Winamp. 2. Press control P to go into
preferences. 3. Go to CD Ripping in the tree view. 4. Tab to the tab control
and go to the tab that says Output file settings. 5. Tab until you get to
the brows button. 6. Activate that button and choose the folder you want. 7.

Press enter and that will be the folder your tracks will be ripped to.

Re: downloading music from Usenet news groups

2006-09-23 Thread Donald L. Roberts
Joe, I download music from Usenet using one of two ways.

I have a trial version of a program called Newsshark which is
pretty accessible. Also, I have an Easy News subscription, so I
can download binaries via http. However, I read a cautionary
note that downloading via http at high speed is potentially
troublesome if one has a Linksys router (which I do) because
files can become corrupted. This has not yet happened to me, but
I am concerned.

The last I knew, Agent could not handle Yenc encoding. Has this
been fixed. Also, I thought I had read that more recent versions
of Agent were much less accessible.

Incidentally, I usually use Window Eyes 5.5 but also have a demo
of Jaws 7.0.

Re: downloading music from Usenet news groups

2006-09-23 Thread Steve Matzura
Forte Agent in its present incarnation is just as accessible as it
ever was. You just have to do a little work, is all. The
configuration editor is 100% accessible, and with a change to either
your screenreader for selecting custom highlight colors or Agent
itself for customizing its highlight colors, the only thing I haven't
quite gotten a handle on (no pun intended, JAWS script kiddies) is how
to make message windows read automatically. Otherwise, Agent's great!

And if you still want to use the old one (Version 1.93) and can't find
it, I can send it to you, or better yet, put it up on YouSendIt and
let everybody have a go at it. Just remember, the best feature of
Agent--the ability to combine multiple messages into a single large
file attachment--doesn't work until it's paid for.

I, too have the same trouble with the message window, making e-mail and text
newsgroups less friendly than Outlook Express, but I can get along with the
limitations and find the later Agent much better at combining usenet headers
than earlier versions.On Sat, 23 Sep 2006 19:29:06 -0400, you wrote:

Question about Bit Rates in Streaming

2006-09-23 Thread Jardata Mail Services
Hello List!

I notice that, since I put my internet radio station streaming rate at
128kb/44, I have gotten some drop out when I play the station through my
internet link on my web site and my friend got the same thing. Sounds great,
but drops out for a short period of time.

When you hear or stream the station through my internet link, the music is
played in Real Player. I'm thinking that, maybe, I have Real Player's
connection rate too high. I have it set at DSL/Cable 256-750+ (different
times). The maximum is set the same. Should I chose 56.6kps, even though I
have a DSL connection? I think Real Player's choices go up to T1 or so.

Also, what should I have the setting for a 128k stream? I currently have the
Encoder set at 128k/44. stereo. Is this correct? If not, what should it be?

I've been listening to a few stations on http://www.radiomat.com.
Some of the stations require registration. The registration page to
these stations is flash content. Is ther a good way to navigate the
registration forms on these pages?
