Re: cool edit 2.0

2006-01-28 Thread G. McFarlane
Hi Michael
Ctrl and space should work, but if not, make sure you're in Edit Waveform
mode - at the top of the view menu it will either give you the option of
toggling between Multitrack view or Edit view - if you are in Multitrack
view you may not record if you have not armed a track. In Edit waveform view
you should be able to press ctrl and space or go to New in the File menu,
bring up the dialog box with sample settings etc, press enter and you'll be
recording.

If you wish to record while listening to other tracks you need to be in
multitrack view. You must make sure that your track output for each track is
the same place e. g. a soundcard channel, then you must go and arm the track
you wish to record in. (Don't forget to make sure it's output channel comes
through your soundcard too.) Now when you press ctrl and space or go through
the menus you should be able to record on the selected tracks and hear a
combination of the stuff already there and the new stuff you're recording.

Regards.

Re: MP3s On Commercial CD Players

2006-01-28 Thread Kevin Lloyd
Hi Katrina.

Most people on the list will use a specific burning program to create
compilation audio CD's. Nero, Easy CD creator, CDRWIN and Easy CD Extractor
are the most commonly used. With a specific burning program like this you
won't have to worry about converting to WAV files first as they will be able
to burn a standard music audio CD straight from your MP3 files.

Re: Reading V U Meters In Total Recorder

2006-01-28 Thread Tom
Thanks Donald, I never tried Total Recorder but being able to
read the V U meters is a great feature and I am going to
check it out. I'd think that in Window-Eyes a hyperactive
window could be set up around the V U meters and have them
read automatically when they are at a certain value.

RE: MP3s On Commercial CD Players

2006-01-28 Thread Kat
Thanks for your comments Kevin. I may have to acquire one of those
programs, but prefer not to make a purchase if my goal can be accomplished
using programs that I currently have.

By the way, I have figured out how to use iTunes to convert the MP3 files
into WAV, but the files still won't play on my commercial CD player.
Perhaps this particular CD player just isn't capable of playing such files.
If that's the case, then I probably should be looking for a different CD
player. Any recommendations/suggestions in that regard?

Thanks,
Katrina

Re: MP3s On Commercial CD Players

2006-01-28 Thread Dana S. Leslie
Katrina,

Sorry, I don't use ITunes, and have no idea what's wrong. From your initial
description, I thought maybe you were just copying the wavs to CD, rather
than burning them, which would have the effect you described. Have you tried
other burning software?

I save the file(s) to the iTunes library, and then copy the file(s) from the
library to the play list. Then I burn the play list.

Re: MP3s On Commercial CD Players

2006-01-28 Thread Kevin Lloyd
Hi Katrina.

What program do you use to burn the playlist? and, do you choose audio CD
format? A commercial CD player won't play a bunch of WAV files burned as a
data CD they have to be converted to CDDA format by burning as an audio or
music CD.

One other question, are you using CDR's or rewritables? Many older CD
players won't play rewritables.

Regards.

Re: Re[2]: Reading V U Meters In Total Recorder

2006-01-28 Thread Donald L. Roberts
Patrick, I know of no way to cause the V U meter in Total Recorder to
give a reading in db. This doesn't mean that there is none, rather that
I just don't know about it.

I think that one can do that in Gold Wave; however, I have not found a
way to read the V U meter in Gold Wave.

Is there a way to get the meter to read in DB rather than percentages?
I don't use total recorder much, but this would be of interest.

Sure, I use sound forge to do this, but sometimes, particularly when I'm
doing something where I don't want a full editor loaded up, I just want
something where I can pull up a small app and take a quick look at a meter
without doing much else.

When you record anything in gw, it is *.wav first, it always converts
even if you save to mp3, so why not just change the sampling rate
before you save?

Download the software for free; it will work in restricted, demo mode. Then,
purchase a registration code, enter it into the software, and the rest of

Video editing program

2006-01-28 Thread Louis R Briones
Being a newby to this group, and knowing that this sort of thing is just a
little off base, maybe there is someone out there would know of a program
that could be used to edit commercials from a from a record DVD. I'm finding
a great pain to do this manually
