[opensource-dev] Ohai!

2010-02-05 Thread C.J. Adams-Collier
I don't recall signing up for this list, but I'm happy to be here. If
nobody else takes credit, I'll blame robla.

I haven't done anything with SL in a while... busy with school and work.

Speaking of school, I'm attending classes with a focus on computational
linguistics. There has been some discussion among the members of the
department regarding the use of language processing in massively
multiplayer games, and even some discussion about writing some libs in
C#. Since I'm a Mono dev, I'll be sure that all of the stuff works on
that platform.

But for now, I've got to run to the U and get to studying Lushootseed.

Cheers,

C.J.

Re: [opensource-dev] Second Life Package Repo

2010-02-18 Thread C.J. Adams-Collier
Do we have any ubuntu folks on the list who might consider setting up a
PPA?

A few years ago (May 2008), I did a bit of work putting together a build
system using gar called "garindra". It's totally out of date now, but I
learned enough then, and I've learned enough since then about packaging
stuff for debuntu, that I can probably make something go.

If people care enough to warrant such an effort ;)

Cheers,

C.J.

Re: [opensource-dev] Second Life Package Repo

2010-02-18 Thread C.J. Adams-Collier
Does it depend on a different PPA?

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
snowglobe: Depends: snowglobe-data (= 1.3.1-6) but it is not going to be
installed
Recommends: gstreamer0.10-plugins-ffmpeg but it is not installable
Recommends: gstreamer0.10-pitfdll but it is not installable
Recommends: w32codecs but it is not installable

Re: [opensource-dev] Third party viewer policy

2010-02-23 Thread C.J. Adams-Collier
Are you sure? I'd think that denying connection to their services would
not be limited in any way by the GPL. But IANAL.

Re: [opensource-dev] Third party viewer policy

2010-02-23 Thread C.J. Adams-Collier
The Debian (Sun) Java runtime package has such an agreement requirement
or did at one point.
