Specifically the coordinates of any annotations will be stored with the locale delimiter. A document stored with the Danish locale will have the following coordinate format: with a comma (,) as the delimiter. If this document is open on a machine with for example an English locale, all annotations are shown in the review sidebar, but not in the actual document. The only indication that there is something wrong is the following the terminal output if okular was opened from a terminal: usage: lpr [-cdfghlmnpqrstv] [-#num] [-1234 font] [-C class] [-i [numcols]] [-J job] [-Pprinter] [-T title] [-U user] [-wnum] [name ...] If okular was not opened from the terminal it just silently fails to print, with absolutely no notification to the user that anything is amiss. This is incredibly aggravating if the printer is somewhere far away. It would be great if okular could display a notification to the user of these printer failures. Okular should be able to figure out that the correct dependencies are not installed, and notify the user that printing will not be possible until they are. P.S.: Sorry for the wrong rating of the bug, but it is the first time that I reported a bug. My first impression was, that the bug is grave for the user (me), because it changed the content of the document content with no visible correlation to surrounding circumstances. I spend a lot of time to find out why my calculation results for nearly every second (I found these behaviour in many other pdf documents from this exercising internet platform) exercise were wrong -:). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Okular-devel mailing list Okular-devel@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/okular-devel

[Okular-devel] [okular] [Bug 364809] New: can't print file that contains invalid UTF-8 sequence
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=364809 Bug ID: 364809 Summary: can't print file that contains invalid UTF-8 sequence Product: okular Version: 0.25.0 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: printing Assignee: okular-devel@kde.org Reporter: peter.malo...@brockmann-consult.de maybe 2 related bugs reported together (1) can't open a file with an invalid utf8 character in it, even though it's a valid filename okular 'kindergeld'$'\303\244''nderung3.pdf' error window pops up "Could not open kindergeldänderung3.pdf" can work around this by renaming the file, or symlinking to it the file is available at this link, and I'll try attaching it too: https://www.arbeitsagentur.de/web/wcm/idc/groups/public/documents/webdatei/mdaw/mdc0/~edisp/l6019022dstbai385303.pdf (2) can't print the file because the "job name" it gives the printer has an invalid utf8 character on console, you can see output like: lpr: Bad job-name value: "job-name": Bad name value "Vernderungsmitteilung" - bad UTF-8 sequence (RFC 2911 section 4.1.2). the command it uses (obtained by replacing the lpr command with a script that logs it) /usr/bin/lpr -P okidoki -#1 -J Vernderungsmitteilung -r /tmp/kde-peter/okularH13352.ps And while that's true that the sequence is invalid UTF-8, I don't really care what the job name is, and would rather it just fake it and print; it wouldn't affect the hard copy. And okular set the job name... it doesn't give me control of it. I wouldn't even know what the job name was to use it since it doesn't match the title or filename or anything. So my workaround was to write a wrapper script that uses iconv to check args and replaces invalid ones with $RANDOM. And that works.
