Isn't that what reverse_alias=yes does?

Would be great to have this kind of behaviour on replies and attribution
as well, though.

mutt and umlaute (öäü)

2010-02-15 Thread Jeffrey Ratcliffe
I can't get mutt to correctly display umlaute (öäü) in the pager; I'm
just getting various forms of question marks.

LANG and LANGUAGE are set to en_GB.UTF-8

I've tried variations on

set charset="us-ascii:iso-8859-15:iso-8859-1:koi8-r:utf-8"

but that didn't solve the problem, and only caused a "Bad IDN" error
message when typing the To: field in a new message.

emacs displays the maildir messages correctly.

I have been deleting the header cache between attempts.

This seems to be a much-asked question, but none of the answers I have
had have fixed things for me.

This is all the more bizarre, as other non-ASCII characters, such as
Chinese or Arabic characters seems to be displayed OK.

I'm using Karmic.

Any ideas?

Regards

Jeff

Ah, I actually wasn’t aware of reverse_alias; I thought that was part of
the proposal from the OP.
