In the menu where you see those choices, you can type e to edit the
message. You can also type ? (a question mark) to see a list of
commands available in that menu.

mutt looses new marker on mailboxes

2007-12-29 Thread Jörg Sommer
Hi,

I've different mailboxes (mbox format) for different purposes. But mutt
removes the new flag from the mailbox in the browser even if there are
mail with the new flag in the mailbox. What might be the reason? I want
to keep track of unanswered mail in all boxes. How can I persuade mutt to
set the flag?

Bye, Jörg.

No, you mis-understand the function.

once you open an mbox folder/file, you have unset the, "N", new flag.
New mail will remain in the file and remain marked new until you open
it, but the file/folder will no longer be new, ie: you have accessed it.

do not open/access folders that you want to retain the new flag.
There is no function to set a flag on a folder that I am aware.

I do not know if there is such a function, but one workaround is to
use a mailbox format that keeps new and old mail separate - for
example maildir. That and unsetting $mark_old should do the trick, if
you have inodes to spare.
