Config::Properties namespace transfer request

2002-11-30 Thread Craig Manley
Hi,

I've been trying to contact the author of Config::Properties, Randy Jay
Yarger, for some time now but can't get in touch with him. I've tried these
email addresses and they all bounce:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
I've also tried newsgroups, google, and msn to no avail.

I've fixed some bugs in Config::Properties and have uploaded version 0.41 to
my pause directory:
http://www.cpan.org/modules/by-authors/id/C/CM/CMANLEY/

I'ld like to take ownership of the Config::Properties namespace so that
everybody can download this version instead of the buggy 0.40 version.

Regards,
Craig Manley

It seems that the namespace is registered. This is the result of my
registration attempt:

ERROR: The submission didn't succeed due to the following reasons:

Dist R/RA/RANDY/Config-Properties-0.40.tar.gz, current version 0.40 has been
uploaded by RANDY. Please contact RANDY or choose a different namespace.

I don't think a different name will be useful now since there are people
using this module with it's present name. Maybe Config::JavaProperties would
have been a little better, but it's a bit late for that now.

Hi Brian,

I emailed you before about this. When I try to register the namespace I get
the error below. This is preventing me from registering the namespace. What
am I to do now?

  Register Namespace

Module rootnamespace Config doesn't match chapter. Config is already
registered in the chapters 2 and 12. If you really believe that it belongs
to chapter 9 too, please turn on the small checkbox next to the

2001-10-27 Thread Craig Manley

Name: Craig Manley
Address: Regentesseweg 15, 1312 AA, Almere, Netherlands
Homepage: http://www.skybound.nl
Preferred user-ID: C-MANLEY
Short description of what I'm planning to contribute:
A few modules. Firstly RTTTL::Parser (an RTTTL parser and validator), and
SMS::MT (for sending mobile terminated SMS's by means of plugin modules -
something like DBD).

FW: Module submission SMS::MT

Hi,

I have not received a reply yet about this submission done more than one
month ago. Is the request still pending?

Subject: Module submission SMS::MT

The following module was proposed for inclusion in the Module List:

  modid:   SMS::MT
  DSLIP:   bdpOp
  description: Sends mobile terminated SMS messages.
  userid:  CMANLEY (Craig Manley)
  chapterid:   23 (Miscellaneous_Modules)
  communities:
newsgroup comp.lang.perl.modules

  similar:
Net::SMS WWW::SMS

  rationale:

Maybe Net::SMS would have been a better choice if it had not
existed, but unfortunately it exists and it belongs to Simplewire so
that you can only send SMS's via Simplewire.

WWW::SMS has just been proposed as another module for sending SMS's
through free services and via HTTP protocol only.

GSM::SMS exists but has a totally different design with many
related modules and I don't want to pollute that namespace.

I chose SMS as the root namespace because all my modules are
related to SMS only (and do not necessarily have anything to do with
the WWW or with GSM's). Other SMS related packages I'm proposing
are: SMS::Ringtone::RTTTL::Parser, SMS::Ringtone::RTTTL::MIDI, and
SMS::Image.

I have no SMS::Ringtone class, so others may use that as the root
for their ringtone based module names.

I have no class called SMS so that others may use the SMS root
namespace as the base for their module names (for example
SMS::MassMailer or whatever).

My main class SMS::MT is meant to be a simple and signle interface
for sending SMS's to any SMS service provider. Support for different
SMS service providers is implemented by means of plugin modules
(similar to the idea behind DBI and all the database plugin
drivers).

I've got the list of modules and their POD's at this URL:
http://www.skybound.nl/products/Perl.asp

  enteredby:   CMANLEY (Craig Manley)
  enteredon:   Sat Nov 10 16:16:47 2001 GMT

The resulting entry would be:

SMS::
::MT bdpOp Sends mobile terminated SMS messages.CMANLEY
