I plan to contribute mostly web-related modules. First of all, a
CGI framework, which incorporate a fast replacement for CGI.pm, a
module that supports user sessions and session persistence, an
exception class with ability to dump the stack trace, an
object-oriented wrapper over DBI, ACL-based access control module,
and other modules. This framework is a complete solution for
developing several (related or not) websites under one virtual
hosting account. Also, I have some utility modules that, I believe,
are interesting too.

Module submission Java::NotAnt

2003-07-29 Thread Perl Authors Upload Server

The following module was proposed for inclusion in the Module List:

  modid:   Java::NotAnt

description: lets Perl build Java apps using only 1 JVM
  userid: PHILCROW (Philip Crow)
  chapterid:9 (Language_Interfaces)
  communities:

  similar:
None I could find.

  rationale:

People often build Java apps with Ant since it starts only one JVM.
But Ant is not a scripting language, it has no flow of control,
genuine variables, functions, objects, modules, etc.

With Java::NotAnt, you can direct a Java build with a Perl script.
You get all the benefits of Perl. The key is Java::NotAnt::JVM which
uses Inline::Java to start exactly one JVM for compiling.
Java::NotAnt::Tasks has various helper functions to aid in building
Java apps. This module might appeal especially to Java programmers
with limited Perl knowledge.

Subject:Module Namespace Registration Question

From: Steve Hay <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi,

I registered a new module namespace recently (Win32-UTCFileTime,
user-id: SHAY) and have since uploaded two versions of that module.
Both have been indexed OK, but when I login to PAUSE and go to "Edit
Module Metadata" I find that this module is not in my list. Should it be?

The text at the top of that page says:

"The select box shows all the modules that have been registered for user
SHAY officially via [EMAIL PROTECTED], i.e. that are included (or about
to be included) in the module list. If you are missing certain pieces,
please let [EMAIL PROTECTED] know"

Well, I've registered it officially, so presumably it will be included
in the module list one day, but I note that the list hasn't been updated
for nearly a year! Can I not edit the metadata until it is actually in
the module list? The above seems to suggest that I'll be able to edit
it as soon as it is registered, even if it is not yet listed.

Thanks,

Steve

for IDMEF messages (and it what this modules is based on).

his SHA-256, which I found to have a bug in it. I
tried to contact him using the email address listed

Here's my email to him. I'd like to replace his
module with my own implementation.

Best regards,

Hello Rafael,

I'd like to tell you that I compared your
SHA-256 with a Windows program called HashCalc
as well as with the implementation found in
http://www.aarongifford.com/computers/sha.html
and I definitely saw some discrepancies. I have
reimplemented SHA-256 in Perl using the code from
aarongifford.com but I'm hoping that you could
fix your implementation first to avoid duplication
of work. I'll upload my own implementation if you
cannot fix your module. Thanks

Module submission Spreadsheet::WriteExcel::FromXML
