Errors Compiling OpenOffice

2006-12-16 Thread Jim Michael
I encountered the following errors when compiling OpenOffice on a fresh
install of 4.0-stable on an i386. Dmesg is also included

I'm not sure what to do to resolve the problems, not being a
programmer. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Errors Compiling OpenOffice

2006-12-17 Thread Jim Michael
I apologize. I incorrectly reported that I am using stable. I did
upgrade ports to -current on 12/16 before make install.

You do not have to set the ulimit. The port does it for you from

If you want to compile OOo on stable, you are on your own.
OOo needs a couple of things that are in current.

Upgrade to current, openoffice should not work with the -stable gcc.
Also do ulimit -n 1024.

Duh. Sorry. You're on i386... probably with -release ports, right? If
so, don't pay any attention to me. But since you're compiling it
yourself, I'm assuming that you want the -current openoffice. -current
OO may compile on -stable i386, but it would be best to use the latest
in-tree gcc.

No Sound on Compaq Presario

2006-03-25 Thread Jim Michael
I have a standard 3.8 installation on a Compaq Presaio. I am trying to
get sound when playing cds with cdio or streaming through mplayer. I
followed the instruction in the FAQ 13. I can hear noise when I cat a
file to /dev/audio. I ran mixerctl and changed all mutes to "off". I
can run a cd with cdio and stream audio with mplayer but can not hear
anything. I've tried the speakers with all available jack also. I
reviewed man pages for audio and mixer but do not see what I am missing.

I know this has to be a simple problem. I have the same situation with
3.8 on a Dell Latitude CPi. I'm including the dmesg, mixerctl -a
output, and the audioctl -a output. Coming from a M$ environment and
trying to learn OpenBSD, I'm not sure what to do. Any help would be
appreciated.
