Re: openbsd 4.0 ralink problem low operation range
Same problem with minipci ral cards max distance: 5-8m. Re: OpenBSD on soekries or WRAP, wich
I guess it all depends on what you need to do. I bought a WRAP because i didn't need the ATA/USB ports. I just wanted a board with three ethernet ports, minipci and CF port. I'm using it as a gate/firewall/Access Point. On 12/13/06, Carlos A. Re: openbsd 4.0 ralink problem low operation range
I have experienced the same problems with both ath(4) and ral(4) (minipci cards). I tried to use different modes (B & G) and different settings (channels, ..) and using an external antenna but the performance's still lossy :-/ for ral(4): g mode doesn't work very well for me (packet loss, ...) so i'm sticking with b mode for ath(4): changing the mode just causes the kernel to crash :/ so i used b mode as well. I don't know if ath(4) works better than ral(4) for some of you. I heard it has a better radio chipset but it is not documented. Re: ssh vpn (via ssh -w), need some help please?
Someone corrects me if 'im wrong but i guess you can't. You need to create a bridge between your tun device (tun0) on the gateway and the iface that is connected to your 172.16.43.0/24 network (nic2). The ssh command to use on your laptop is: ssh -w0:0 [EMAIL PROTECTED] (run it as root user to make sure it works or give the correct permissions to tun to the user who runs it) then if the bridge is up you should be able to ping a host on the 172.16.43.0/24 network from your laptop.
