Well the review isn't finished yet. Peter had some questions
in comment 8 which require you to post a fixed package, and
for Peter (once he is happy with it) to approve it.

I assume you have a FAS account and are a packager? If not
you'll also need sponsorship.

This is all explained in the link I posted in comment 12.

 CC||ka...@smartlink.ee

--- Comment #18 from Kalev Lember  2010-02-04 07:55:40 EST
---
I have a few late comments.

The -debuginfo subpackage is empty. This is caused by a missing define:
%define __debug_install_post %{_mingw32_debug_install_post}

You have this:
# Automatically create a debuginfo package
%{_mingw32_debug_package}

Instead of using %{_mingw32_debug_package}, it's better to use
%{?_mingw32_debug_package} (notice the question mark) to work around a problem
with macros showing up unexpanded in description in Koji. See [1] for an
explanation of this issue.
Can you do a new Koji scratch build to be sure that debuginfo issues are fixed?

Now that the binaries are stripped automatically, you can kill those two lines:
# Uncomment and unescape to strip the debug symbols from the resulting
artifacts
#%%{_mingw32_strip} --strip-unneeded
%%{buildroot}%%{_mingw32_bindir}/libogg-0.dll

Requires: pkgconfig is unneccessary in Fedora (but needed if you plan to build
for EPEL). RPM in current Fedora releases is capable of extracting pkgconfig
deps automatically. See [2] for updated guidlines. You don't neccessarily have
to change anything here, just pointing it out.

This works with the latest mingw32-gcc-c++. Since Fedora 11 is
nearly out of support, I suggest the reporter updates just the mingw32-*
packages with ones from Fedora 12 or Koji to fix the problem.

Create a file /etc/yum.repos.d/koji.repo containing:

--
[koji]
name=Koji
baseurl=http://koji.fedoraproject.org/static-repos/dist-f13-build-current/$basearch/
enabled=0
gpgcheck=0
keepcache=0

[koji-i686]
name=Koji
baseurl=http://koji.fedoraproject.org/static-repos/dist-f13-build-current/i386/
enabled=0
gpgcheck=0
keepcache=0
--

Then do: yum --enablerepo=koji install mingw32-gcc-c++
(but _carefully_ check what packages yum is going to upgrade
before proceeding, to avoid upgrading your whole system to
Rawhide by accident).

I don't see why mingw32-gcc can't be updated in F11, the current version even
lags behind the native gcc in F11 updates, which is at 4.4.1.

libvirt support on Windows.

[Bug 571686] New: mingw32 produced DLL's are not stripped

2010-03-09 Thread bugzilla

comments should be made in the comments box of this bug.

Summary: mingw32 produced DLL's are not stripped

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=571686

   Summary: mingw32 produced DLL's are not stripped
   Product: Fedora
   Version: 10
  Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: medium
  Priority: low
 Component: mingw32-filesystem
AssignedTo: rjo...@redhat.com
ReportedBy: waana...@nbi.dk
 QAContact: extras...@fedoraproject.org
CC: berra...@redhat.com, rjo...@redhat.com,
erik-fed...@vanpienbroek.nl,
fedora-mi...@lists.fedoraproject.org
Classification: Fedora

Description of problem:

Even if the specfile includes:

%define __strip %{_mingw32_strip}

mingw32 cross-compiled packages does not get their DLL's or binaries
stripped.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Checked with:

mingw32-filesystem-56-1

How reproducible:

Very easy to reproduce by building a mingw32 package. Also official Fedora
mingw32 packages are not stripped either - I tested the package:
mingw32-pixman-0.14.0-1.fc11.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. cp -p /usr/i686-pc-mingw32/sys-root/mingw/bin/libpixman-1-0.dll /tmp
2. i686-pc-mingw32-strip /tmp/libpixman-1-0.dll

Actual results:

# ls -1s /usr/i686-pc-mingw32/sys-root/mingw/bin/libpixman-1-0.dll
/tmp/libpixman-1-0.dll
 252 /tmp/libpixman-1-0.dll
1252 /usr/i686-pc-mingw32/sys-root/mingw/bin/libpixman-1-0.dll

Expected results:

# ls -1s /usr/i686-pc-mingw32/sys-root/mingw/bin/libpixman-1-0.dll
/tmp/libpixman-1-0.dll
 252 /tmp/libpixman-1-0.dll
 252 /usr/i686-pc-mingw32/sys-root/mingw/bin/libpixman-1-0.dll

Hi,

Stripping debug symbols and collecting them in -debuginfo subpackages was
introduced in Fedora 12. I noticed that you're still using the Fedora 11 mingw
packages, so chances are that your problem is already solved in Fedora 12.
Could you please try again with the Fedora 12 packages ?

None of the packages I build on Fedora 12 gets stripped, even though I follow
the guidelines on http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging/MinGW

Looking at the mingw32 packages in Fedora 12 some are stripped and some are
not. Looking at the specfiles of some of the packages that are stripped reveals
that they contain:

%define __debug_install_post %{_mingw32_debug_install_post}

and later

%{?_mingw32_debug_package}

Which seems to be the undocumented additions needed to get it to work.

Neither of these are mentioned in the guidelines, and searching for them in the
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/ gives no hits.

As the guidelines are written, they say that if you follow the guidelines you
get stripped binaries:

> Libraries and executables should be stripped. This is done correctly and
> automatically if the spec file includes these lines:
>
> %global __strip %{_mingw32_strip}
> %global __objdump %{_mingw32_objdump}

Which doesn't happen. To get stripped binaries you need to add two lines to
your specfile that are neither mentioned in the guidelines nor anywhere else.

The currently approved packaging guidelines have a number of
problems. We have been collecting the list of problems here:

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/MinGW/Packaging_issues

so that when we come to update and seek approval for the
guidelines again, we know what needs to change. It sounds like
this issue (and the whole issue of generating debuginfo) needs
to be added to the above page.

Updated the summary line to reflect this.

You're right that the usage of the debuginfo macro's isn't documented in the
guidelines. The topic (debuginfo support) has been discussed on the
fedora-mingw mailing list though. This can be read at
http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/mingw/2009-June/001613.html (+ follow
ups) and http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/mingw/2009-July/001811.html
(+ follow ups).

Unfortunately the Fedora MinGW SIG has had a lack of leadership and interest
these days. One year ago I spent a lot of time on the Fedora MinGW SIG to get
new packages and features in, but a few months ago I started on a new full-time
job leaving me with very little spare time to work on the Fedora MinGW SIG.

The %global __strip override is only used for static libraries, so that's why
you're not seeing any effects when used on libraries or executables.

Erik, any update on this? I'd be happy to approve the package if you remove
curl.exe. I don't really believe in packages improving out of tree; libcurl can
always be switched to use NSS at a later date. IMHO it's better to have an
openssl-linked libcurl in official Fedora repos than no libcurl at all.

Oh, and regarding concerns about libvirt: according to Fedora spec file,
libvirt is LGPLv2+. Unlike GPL, as far as I know LGPL-licensed code does not

Hi,

I'll leave the review up to somebody else as this package was initially created
by me, but I was wondering if you already have patches ready for wine itself to
use this package (as wine expects a .CAB file while this package provides a
folder containing the gecko files) ?

--- Comment #5 from Bug Zapper  2010-04-27
08:18:10 EDT ---

This message is a reminder that Fedora 11 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 11. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '11'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 11's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 11 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:

FWIW, the redhat-rpm-config way of passing strip + objdump as arguments to the
brp-strip* went to rpm.org upstream some time ago already, it's just a matter
of getting it into Fedora too. Marking this as MODIFIED for easy spotting when
preparing the next rpm update...

[Bug 599227] New: mingw is broken

2010-06-02 Thread bugzilla
Please do not reply directly to this email. All additional
comments should be made in the comments box of this bug.

Summary: mingw  is broken

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=599227

   Summary: mingw  is broken
   Product: Fedora
   Version: 13
  Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: medium
  Priority: low
 Component: mingw32-pthreads
AssignedTo: rjo...@redhat.com
ReportedBy: ebl...@redhat.com
 QAContact: extras...@fedoraproject.org
CC: lfar...@lfarkas.org, berra...@redhat.com,
rjo...@redhat.com, erik-fed...@vanpienbroek.nl,
fedora-mi...@lists.fedoraproject.org
Classification: Fedora
Target Release: ---

Description of problem:
The cross-compilation header
/usr/i686-pc-mingw32/sys-root/mingw/include/pthread.h, installed as part of the
mingw32-pthreads package, has several coding bugs.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
mingw32-pthreads-2.8.0-10.fc13.noarch

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try cross-compiling any code that uses localtime_r with a second argument
with side effects, or try calling (localtime_r)(arg1,arg2).
2. Try cross-compiling any project that uses gnulib's replacement
header (libvirt is an example project; it includes a ./autobuild.sh script that
will automatically try a mingw cross-compilation, if you have installed a mingw
portablexdr library, although that library is not yet part of fedora).

Actual results:
The definition of localtime_r is broken, because it evaluates the second
argument twice. And, since POSIX allows one to #undef localtime_r, but there
is no localtime_r function in the library, you get a link failure if you bypass
the function-like macro. Finally, the pthreads-win32 library made the mistake
of installing , which is asking for namespace collision with most
other autotooled packages.

Expected results:
 should not define any *_r functions, nor should it interfere with a
proper . Also, the library should not install , but should
instead modify its installed headers to be self-contained.

Additional info:

[Bug 599567] New: mingw32-gcc should not drag in mingw32-pthreads

2010-06-03 Thread bugzilla
Please do not reply directly to this email. All additional
comments should be made in the comments box of this bug.

Summary: mingw32-gcc should not drag in mingw32-pthreads

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=599567

   Summary: mingw32-gcc should not drag in mingw32-pthreads
   Product: Fedora
   Version: 13
  Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: medium
  Priority: low
 Component: mingw32-gcc
AssignedTo: rjo...@redhat.com
ReportedBy: ebl...@redhat.com
 QAContact: extras...@fedoraproject.org
CC: berra...@redhat.com, rjo...@redhat.com,
ka...@smartlink.ee,
fedora-mi...@lists.fedoraproject.org
Classification: Fedora
Target Release: ---

Description of problem:
mingw32-gcc currently drags in a dependency on mingw32-pthreads, which in turn
forces some namespace pollution due to its buggy header. It would
be much nicer if the mingw32-pthreads package remained optional, since it can
interfere with cross-compilation efforts to mingw.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
mingw32-gcc-4.4.2-2.fc13.x86_64
mingw32-pthreads-2.8.0-10.fc13.noarch

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install mingw32-gcc

Actual results:
mingw32-pthreads gets sucked in as a required dependency to the cross-compiler.

Expected results:
Mere presence of the cross-compiler shouldn't force the existence of a broken
. Either the compiler needs to be built without mingw32-pthreads,
or mingw32-pthreads needs to be split into two packages (runtime dependency of
the compiler, vs. development library that installs for situations
that actually want to use this library in spite of its current upstream flaws).

There's no Sun code in PortableXDR, because I replaced it. I've
removed the blocker on FE-LEGAL.

--- Comment #16 from Adam Goode  2010-06-03 15:27:42 EDT ---
This is a pretty big problem, this does change the API of libjpeg such that I
cannot build my code both natively on Fedora and with mingw32. I am using my
own src manager, so the function I define has to either return boolean (on all
libjpeg except this one) or jpeg_boolean (on the Fedora patched
mingw32-libjpeg).

Also, why is this necessary just for the mingw32 package? The native package
has no such patch.

[Bug 604702] Custom Fedora patch to mingw32-libjpeg breaks API

2010-06-16 Thread bugzilla
Please do not reply directly to this email. All additional

--- Comment #1 from Adam Goode  2010-06-16 10:38:51 EDT ---
In fact, here is the code from libtiff that works around the problem without
breaking libjpeg:

/*
   The windows RPCNDR.H file defines boolean, but defines it with the
   unsigned char size. You should compile JPEG library using appropriate
   definitions in jconfig.h header, but many users compile library in wrong
   way. That causes errors of the following type:

   "JPEGLib: JPEG parameter struct mismatch: library thinks size is 432,
   caller expects 464"

   For such users we wil fix the problem here. See install.doc file from
   the JPEG library distribution for details.
*/

/* Define "boolean" as unsigned char, not int, per Windows custom. */
#if defined(__WIN32__) && !defined(__MINGW32__)
# ifndef __RPCNDR_H__/* don't conflict if rpcndr.h already read */
   typedef unsigned char boolean;
# endif
# define HAVE_BOOLEAN/* prevent jmorecfg.h from redefining it */
#endif

#include "jpeglib.h"
#include "jerror.h"

[Bug 604702] New: Custom Fedora patch to mingw32-libjpeg breaks API

2010-06-16 Thread bugzilla
Please do not reply directly to this email. All additional
comments should be made in the comments box of this bug.

Summary: Custom Fedora patch to mingw32-libjpeg breaks API

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=604702

   Summary: Custom Fedora patch to mingw32-libjpeg breaks API
   Product: Fedora
   Version: 13
  Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: medium
  Priority: low
 Component: mingw32-libjpeg
AssignedTo: rjo...@redhat.com
ReportedBy: a...@spicenitz.org
 QAContact: extras...@fedoraproject.org
CC: lfar...@lfarkas.org, berra...@redhat.com,
rjo...@redhat.com, erik-fed...@vanpienbroek.nl,
fedora-mi...@lists.fedoraproject.org
Classification: Fedora

Description of problem:
The resolution of bug #497492 creates a source incompatible fork of libjpeg
that is not even compatible with the native libjpeg!

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
mingw32-libjpeg-7-2.fc12.noarch

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try to compile libtiff with standard Fedora configure, make.
2. Now try to compile libtiff with mingw32-configure, mingw32-make.

Actual results:
tif_jpeg.c:289: error: expected declaration specifiers or '...' before
'boolean'

etc.

I don't think we should fork libjpeg in Fedora. Bug #497492 should be reopened
and the programs that crash should be fixed.
