[MlMt] Counter format syntax

2022-07-16 Thread David Wainberg
Hi all,

Relatively new Mailmate user here. I am enjoying using it quite a bit, and am
in the (probably neverending) process of tweaking settings to my liking.

One thing I want to fix is the format of the information behind a counter
dropdown. The documentation of the format syntax is pretty sparse -
https://manual.mailmate-app.com/format_string_syntax.html - and I'm having
trouble figuring it out.

Specifically, what I want to do at the moment is to shorten and fix the length
of the subject display, since by default it is variable, and some email
subjects are quite long. The size and positioning of the dropdown adjusts
accordingly, which I find undesirable.

Even if that's not doable, I'd like to play with the format.

I've searched the list and haven't found anything. Can anyone point me to more
docs or examples I can crib from?

Thank you very much,

David

[MlMt] Tag or flag sent messages

2022-09-07 Thread David Wainberg
Hi all,

I want to keep track of messages I've sent for which I expect a reply. I had
the idea to do this by tagging or flagging the message as I compose it.

These threads imply that if I tag in the composer, the tag should be preserved
with the message saved in the Sent Messages folder after sending.

https://www.mail-archive.com/mailmate@lists.freron.com/msg09297.html
https://www.mail-archive.com/mailmate@lists.freron.com/msg14626.html

However, I am not finding that to be the case. I add a tag in the composer
window, and then send the message. I find the message in Sent and it has no tag.

I feel like I might be missing something simple. Can anyone tell me?

Thank you!

Thank you for the input. I have figured it out. I'll blame it in part on a dumb
mistake, an in part on UX. (Or would you call it a bug?)

In testing it in the compose window, I was using a tag that did not exist yet.
Although it looks like the tag is added to the message -- it's there in the tag
field -- unlike in the view window, you are not prompted to create a new tag.
Using a tag that was previously created works fine.

[MlMt] G Workspace account shows over quota

2023-05-06 Thread David Wainberg

Hi all,

I have a Google Workspace account from a corporate client. Recently I've
noticed that the account in MailMate shows 313.4% of quota used (3209 GB
out of 1024), and the quota indicator at the bottom of the sidebar is
red.

However, looking directly in Gmail for the account, it shows as *way*
short of the quota. Google's page says only 197.2 MB used for mail.

I'm on MM Version 1.14 (5937).

I suppose I could disable quota as shown in [this
thread](https://www.mail-archive.com/mailmate@lists.freron.com/msg09018.html),
but wondering first if it's something I need to worry about.

Thanks for input anyone can provide.

All the best,

David

MM is accurate for neither in my case. In the Workspace UI I see 200.3
MB of 5.88 PB used overall (Drive, Gmail, Photos).

David-
I am a Google Workspace administrator. The usage shown for my account
in MM 5950 is the overall usage and quota - that is all files that
count toward my quota, not just mail. In my case MM is accurate for
both the amount used (11 GB) and the quota (30 GB).

[MlMt] Wrong SMTP

2025-01-22 Thread David Wainberg

Hi all,

I can't figure this out, and hope someone can help. Maybe I'm just doing
something dumb, but I can't see it. I'm using Version 2.0 (6203).

It appears to me that MailMate is using the wrong SMTP server when I try
to send using an arbitrary email on my domain, as Fastmail allows.

FastMail allows creating a catchall address, which then allows sending
and receiving using arbitrary usernames, i.e. @domain.com.

When I send from my regular email address on this account, i.e. my
username for the account, it sends fine.

However, when I send using one of these catchall addresses in the From
field, it appears, from looking at the Activity Viewer, that MailMate
switches to using the SMTP settings for a different account/domain,
rather than the account/domain that I'm sending from. So, I get a "Not
authorised to send from this header address" error.

Any idea what's going on?

Yes! Brilliant. That's what I was missing. Thank you, John.

If you edit the IMAP settings for your fastmail account (File->Edit

Outgoing messages with From: addresses that match the pattern should
use the outgoing SMTP server defined for that IMAP account.

Pretty sure that's how it should work, anyway, and it seems to in
quick tests that I just did.
