henry,

In release 6015 on MBP in Sonoma 14.2.1, all that’s needed:
1. Select your Source account in the left hand search bar.
2. Click (Menu>Mailbox>New IMAP Mailbox, “”), in the IMAP
Source

   account where you’re creating a sub-mailbox.
3. Name the Untitled Mailbox. It’ll jump to there alpha-ordered
   position.

i right click the account in the sources window, otherwise the same.

but following your recipe exactly
  - does not jump into alpha sort
  - and if i quit mailmate and restart, it is not visible. i have
to Edit Subscriptions and check it and commit
  - it has always been this way for me

14.2.1 and MM Version 1.14 (6010)

I have seen renamed mailboxes auto-sort, but not in many years. I have
had to manually move them for quite some time.

In my experience, I only need to subscribe with a few accounts. I assume
it depends on the IMAP server.

Most of my accounts are on my own EIMS server, with no such issues. It's
my non-EIMS accounts that I have to subscribe to.
