Professional cyclists are known to try this sort of thing… Marco Pantani was (in)famous for taking a file to his bike to literally shave a few grams off, presumably to compensate for the extra density due to EPO… As with many things, this was likely to bring marginal improvements at best, with potentially catastrophic results. Material science and aerodynamics have since provided greater improvements with fewer risks but at some point you reach the theoretical limits for particular situations. In many situations the best answer is: get a bigger engine. This is easy in IT with the continued improvements in semiconductor development, processors may have stalled but improvements in memory chips keep coming along. In your case, as you noted, initially, get more memory. Just a pity that Apple has decided that this shouldn't be an option… Charlie PS thanks to Bill for his eloquent discussion of MailMate's need for extensive indices. -- Charlie Clark Waldlehne 23 Düsseldorf D- 40489 Tel: +49-203-3925-0388 Mobile: +49-178-782-6226 ___ mailmate mailing list mailmate@lists.freron.com https://lists.freron.com/listinfo/mailmate

It seems to have made the behaviour worse, if anything. Now, whenever I try to paste a .tif graphic, the graphic appears twice when displayed in Apple Mail - once at the top of the email and once at the bottom - as well as showing quoted text as indented rather than blue-lined. [MlMt] 5806 minor annoyance
Benny, probably a regression due to fixing other things. but 5806 reenabled the sent mail sound which I'd disabled years ago, meaning it took me a while to disable it again. [MlMt] Auto-updater permission elevation
Hi, I use MailMate from a non-admin user account. It is installed in /Applications, and apps installed there require admin permission to update. I’m on Big Sur. Quite a while ago, the MailMate auto-updater stopped working for me, failing with a permission error. It used to be that it would prompt for the admin password, but this doesn’t happen anymore. Is anyone else using this kind of setup? Does it work for you? ___ mailmate mailing list mailmate@lists.freron.com https://lists.freron.com/listinfo/mailmate
Re: [MlMt] Auto-updater permission elevation
I understand it is a known issue. You best bet is to install the app in ~/applications (local user profile). It works from there.
