The initial version of the layout did not work as expected as I reinstalled it in MailMates resources. I have now tried it with fresh builds 3239 and 3255 where it works. Sorry, if anyone had attempted a fruitless effort in the meantime. -- Mateusz

Great to see that someone is not afraid of playing around with this (in spite of my general warnings that I'll change anything anytime :-) ). But you should change the install instructions to this path: ~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/Resources/Layouts/Mailboxes/widescreen_with_thread_arcs.plist Then it won't be overwritten when you update MailMate. Also note that I changed the filename to make it a separate Widescreen mode -- otherwise I think MailMate is going to be confused (I might be wrong). -- Benny

I performed the proposed changes, it is much cleaner now! I've updated the gist so the view has now a proper title in the menu. -- Mateusz

You just get a new "Thread Arcs" at position 6 in the View > Layout submenu, and switching to it gets you the widescreen thread arcs view. I switched back and forth between the widescreen and non-widescreen thread arc views with no hiccups. So well done! Where I ran into trouble was trying to edit the original 'threadArcs.plist' to use the horizontal variant. Everything I did either suppressed the injection of 'messageView.plist', created a really wonky and unstable layout, or outright failed to load. I think the deep nesting of mailbox view .plists is a little too much for my tiny mind. -- Eric A. Meyer (eric at meyerweb.com) http://meyerweb.com/
[MlMt] Adding headers to Compose
Howdy, I cc: a lot, even when composing brand-new messages, so I'd like to have the cc: line appear in the Compose window by default. I assume there's a way to do so in the Composer's 'default.plist' but I'm not sure exactly what to do. Of course, anything I do in the package will be overwritten by updates, so knowing how to enable this via the Application Support folder would be even more appreciated. Any pointers? Thanks! -- Eric A. Meyer (eric at meyerweb.com) http://meyerweb.com/
[MlMt] Adding headers to Compose
It's actually simpler than editing a plist: pick CC from the little drop down to left of the 'Signature' drop down in the compose window, then select 'Use as default headers' (at the bottom of that same menu) On 5 Feb 2013, at 11:25, Eric A. Thanks! Even easier: Take another look at the pull-down menu you use to get Cc: to show. What's the last item?

I obviously never noticed that, and it's entirely possible I never would have. Thanks! -- Eric A. Meyer (eric at meyerweb.com) http://meyerweb.com/
