Then system might have recognized the battery. what
cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state
and
cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/info
says, those commands will help you to see, if OS is able to identify
the battery.
Also install acpi package, if that is not in the system and execute
acpi -b
that will show the battery charge in percentage.
If above commands are working then, OS is able to get all the battery
details. That means there is some problem with the battery indicator
app in the desktop environment. which one you are using Gnome or KDE ?
