[ILUG-Cochin.org] Routing not possible in 'tun'
Hi, I have a computer with two NIC cards "eth0" and "eth1". It is connected to a VPN server via eth0. The client "tun0" ip address is "10.100.100.2" and the VPN server "tun0" ip address is "10.100.100.1". I have eth1 connected to a different subnet "10.1.2.0/24" and ip address of eth1 is "10.1.2.1". I want to ping from "10.100.100.1" to "10.1.2.1". I have enabled forwarding from eth0 to eth1 and have done NATing for packets going out of eth0. But I am not able to ping from "10.100.100.1" to "10.1.2.1". All is see in wireshark is a ARP broadcast saying "who has 10.1.2.1? tell 10.100.100.1". There is no reply to that broadcast. The strange thing is that I am able to ping from "10.100.100.1" to "10.1.2.1" without forwarding of any sort if I use a "tap" adapter in the VPN. 1) Why is it so? 2) Any suggestions as to how I can do the same thing using the "tun" adapter? -- Thanks and Regards, Hrishikesh Murali ___ Indian Libre User Group Cochin Mailing List http://www.ilug-cochin.org/mailing-list/ http://mail.ilug-cochin.org/mailman/listinfo/mailinglist_ilug-cochin.org #ilugko...@irc.freenode.net
[ILUG-Cochin.org] January 2010 Meeting Details
Warm greetings to the FOSS Community, The meeting for the month of January 2010 conducted successfully. There were 13 people who attended the meeting. Date: 24-01-2010 Time: 2:30pm - 6pm Venue: Internet Club, IInd Floor, AMI Trust Building, Broadway Enclave, Broadway, Ernakulam Attendees: 13 The meeting started at 2.30pm. As usual the meeting started with the introduction to Free Software. The meeting discussed about GNU Movement, Open Source and GNU/Linux. The session discussed about FOSS licenses GPL, LGPL, BSD License etc. As one of the attendees pointed out it is the lack of support that prevents most people to start using Free Software. So the discussion moved in that way. It is necessary to give FOSS awareness to our neighbours/friends so that in case if we need any help we can seek their help and they can seek our help. If they are not able to fix their issue by themselves they should be able to contact the local Free Software user group or ask help using online facilities such as mailing lists and IRC. We all that know Free Software is a social movement. At the same time it has some economic aspects. Most of the computer users/companies have chosen FOSS for reducing their software expense and also to avoid facing legal issues for using proprietary software illegally. So it is necessary to promote FOSS on economic grounds without compromising the social aspects of FOSS. We should be able to find out the potential of FOSS solutions. There was small tea break in between the meeting. The attendees used this time to interact each other to share their experience in FOSS with the beginners. After the tea break the meeting moved on to a session on GIS. Rishad who is doing, GIS (Geographical Information System) projects, demonstrated one of the projects he has done using FOSS based tools. He also gave a talk on GIS and told how FOSS based GIS would benefit the government in collecting geographical information of a particular region. It would be easy for the government to collect the information such as roads, pipelines, natural resources etc. of a particular area, he continued. Since it is based on Free Software the government will be free from all economic and legal bounds in using such a system having huge volumes of data. It was the time to wind up the meeting. The meeting wound up at 6pm. We thank all the attendees for making this meeting a successful event. And hope the next meeting is bigger and better. Attendees: Paul Elanjickel Jos Collin ManuRaj P.R Jibin Michael Thomas V.V. K.S. Ravi Akbar Sreenadh Sujiv Varghese Harikrishnan T.R Mohammed Rashad Raju Ramdas Jay Jacob PS: Please send your feedback to this thread as it is necessary to improve future ILUG meetings. As you all know ILUG Cochin is a voluntary organization in which the meetings and different public activities like conducting seminars, maintaining website etc are done by volunteers. We hope more people will come forward to volunteer these activities. We also have technical session in every monthly meeting. Those who are interested in taking a technical/non-technical session on Free and Open Source Software please feel free to come forward. Happy Hacking. Re: [ILUG-Cochin.org] Exim log analyser
The hosting control panel like WHM/Cpanel has good option to get the mail statistics from Exim logs. You can also use MTA log analyzers like http://www.enderunix.org/isoqlog/ On Mon, Jan 25, 2010 at 11:36 PM, Deepu Joseph wrote: > *bump* > > Any suggestions, guys? > > Deepu > > 2010/1/20 Deepu Joseph >> >> Hello >> >> I'm looking for a free real time log analyser for exim.
