[ILUG-Cochin.org] PAUSE/RESUME apt-get dist-upgrade
Hello, Is it possible to PAUSE and RESUME apt-get dist-upgrade ? It takes a long time(20-24 hrs) for a dist-upgrade. If I stop it and start it the next day then it starts from the beginning. Re: [ILUG-Cochin.org] Authentication method in all Linux environment
We were using NIS + NFS in our network. Now for better security and availability, we are migrating our infrastructure to kerberos + ldap + openafs. http://bobcares.com/blog/?p=435 On Mon, Dec 7, 2009 at 6:11 PM, John Joseph wrote: > > Hi All > I would like to get advice on which authentication to use in an > enviornment in which there are only Linux machine over there, which > authentication would be better for single sign on . > Should I go for LDAP > thanks > Joseph John > > > > > The INTERNET now has a personality. Hi Unni Thanks , In my setup right now there is no DNS server, one of the pre-requisite for Kerbos is DNS server . Is it a good idea to go with LDAP authentication only Thanks Joseph John --- On Mon, 7/12/09, unni krishnan wrote: > From: unni krishnan > Subject: Re: [ILUG-Cochin.org] Authentication method in all Linux environment > To: "This List discusses GNU/Linux & GNU, GPL Software" > > Date: Monday, 7 December, 2009, 5:31 PM > We were using NIS + NFS in our > network. But if you want your web applications (and other apps with kerberos support) to work without asking for password, Kerberos would be the way to go. LDAP alone can't handle session information, so every application will ask for password. With kerberos, you need to enter the password only once to generate a kerberos ticket, all kerberos enabled applications can use that ticket without asking for password again. -- പ്രവീണ് അരിമ്പ്രത്തൊടിയില് I know my rights; I want my phone call! I think there is no proper way to do the pause/resume. Also there is no way to resume downloading from the middle of a partially downloaded .deb file. ___ Indian Libre User Group Cochin Mailing List http://www.ilug-cochin.org/mailing-list/ http://mail.ilug-cochin.org/mailman/listinfo/mailinglist_ilug-cochin.org #ilugko...@irc.freenode.net
