reporting bugs to apple

2011-07-30 Thread James Walton
hello everyone,

i was just reading the digest i get every day for this list, and i saw some
things that said " I hope apple fixes these issues."
i have a question for everyone!
how do you expect apple to know about these issues?
i don't think they know about them now do you?
its very simple!
send an email to accessibil...@apple.com making sure to be detailed in what you
have a problem with.
apple or there programers are not mind readers.
they need to know from there customers about problems.
what ever they may be.
i did my part now its time for the what, 700 or so members to contact apple
about these issues!
that should do something!
thanks

Re: that old mac mini keyboard problem is still with me.

2011-08-18 Thread james Walton
to do this, you will need to do this,
1. ofcourse backup your data!
2. restart your mac mini, and when the sound plays, hold down command r, i
recommend holding that down for about 10 seconds
this will start recovery mode, what it will do here is download the recovery
image from apple's servers, this can take some time, it took my mac i think
like 5 minutes.
if you have your mac connected to a ethernet connection this will be simpler.
this will make sure you load internet recovery.
if you are on wifi, i can't explain how to do it because i don't use wifi
once this loads, you will need to erase the partition that your mac is
installed on by using disk utility.
once you have done this close disk utility

go to reinstall mac os 10
this part will take about 2 hours or more depending on your internet connection
speed.
what it is doing here, is downloading the image, then it will restart, install
mac os 10 and restart again in to the setup screen you get when you first
received your mac.
contact me off list
if you want more help so we don't clutter the list up.

Re: Trying to install a HP all in one printer under Bootcamp running Windows7

That does seem weird. Did you install everything on the DVD? From apple?

On Aug 21, 2011, at 3:58 PM, Graham Roby wrote:

Hi,

If this is off topic, then I apologise up front but thought one of you mega

I'm trying to install my HP c309a all in one printer/scanner/fax software
under bootcamp in to a Windows7 64 bit installation.

   - When I run the install cd or the setup from the latest download from
HP's website I get the following error message.

This computer does not have the necessary USB hardware support to enabled to
allow completion of a usb installation.
The installation cannot continue until this is resolved.
In order to install this as a usb device, please refer to your computer
documentation, or usb ad in card documentation for more information.

If your sure your computer has the physical usb connectors, refer to your
computers documentation about how to enable usb in the bios.

As far as I understand it under Bootcamp there isn't a bios.
I'm running a Macbook pro 2010 model.

This ran perfectly under bootcamp running XP pro on my old Macbook. I was
hoping when I started the install I'd be asked the type of installation I
preferred such as wifi but not a chance.
Has anyone got any ideas as to what I could try?

Sorry this is rather a long post.

Kind regards

Graham

Re: Deleting Text

2011-08-27 Thread james Walton
firstly
system preferences is not vo f8, that is the voiceover utility
one of the reasons you are not able to get to it is because you need to change
the keyboard settings
to make it the normal way of windows do the following
1 do a spotlight for voice
voiceover utility should be the first result
2. go to verbosity with command 2
3 go to the text tab
4 press vo space on the text tab
5 go to where you here
when moving the cursor "speak text the cursor passes popup button
press vo space on that and change the setting to
speak text to the right of the cursor

that is fort your voiceover problem
now to fix your keyboard issue:
press vo m to get to the menu bar
press down arrow on the apple menu till you here system preferences
press enter
stop interacting with the toolbar vo right arrow to the preferences pain,
interact with vo shitf down arrow, go to keyboard, and find the check box that
says use all f keys as standard function keys

thanks
