About Hotspots and Apple scrits/macros
Hello all! Can someone please tell what is possible with creating Hotspots and Apple scripts/macros concerning programs which aren't accessible? Is it for instance possible to tag a specific point on screen with the mouse and then make a hotspot of of it? Maybe anybody has a direct link to documentation on the subject, I can't find detailed info on the Apple accessibility pages. Thanks alot! Hi Anne, So in other words, VO has to "recognize" an object to make a hotspot out of it? When a sighted person uses a mouse and points at something you cannot make a hotspot out of that? Turning sound back on
Hello all, Just accidently turned off the sound on my Mac Pro by selecting no sound for the sound output probably ... stupid me. I couldn't get it back and have no Voice Over to guide me.. Is there a shortcut to change the sound output? Greatly appreciated! Ronald -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. RE: I think I may have made a $99 mistake...
Hi, Just came across this message a bit late and it is a real pity the new Apple TV isn't accessible with Voice Over (yet). I say yet, because you folks think it may come at a later time? Officially from Apple that is. Fingers crossed then! Friendly, Ronald -Oorspronkelijk bericht- Van: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com [mailto:macvisionar...@googlegroups.com] Namens Ben Mustill-Rose Verzonden: zaterdag 9 oktober 2010 21:16 Aan: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Onderwerp: Re: I think I may have made a $99 mistake... I've included the message below. I'm hoping that the jailbreak community will inadvertantly make things better for us at some point. Larry Wanger 30 September 2010 23:00 I sent the following note to Apple Accessibility. No Voice Over on the ATV and the remote app is rendered on the iPhone and iPad such that it can not really be used either. Things will improve somewhat with Airplay once implemented but not entirely. I hope others will consider writing as well. Hi, I want to share my displeasure with Apple as I've just learned that the new Apple TV product does not currently offer any kind of access to blind and low vision television viewers through implementation of Voice Over. I learned of this by calling and speaking with a sales representative at Apple who checked with one of your engineers to find out if accessibility features were built in to the product. Whether Apple recognizes it or not, blind and low vision people enjoy watching television and movies as well and Apple has unfortunately missed out on an opportunity to continue to be a leader in this important area of technology. While I was somewhat surprised to learn the actual Apple TV box did not offer Voice Over, I was even more surprised to learn that the newly updated remote app fails to provide a meaningful solution. Had Apple implemented the remote app for the ATV in the same way that it has allowed end users to use Airtunes I suspect things would have been different. Recall that the remote app essentially rendered the user's iTunes library, showing music, podcasts and other media content. The user could scroll through content and choose what to play. Best of all, Voice Over worked well with this app. A similar implementation would have offered an accessible solution. Beyond this, my understanding of the technical specifications of the ATV would indicate that the box itself should have enough horse power to handle the same implementation of Voice Over that we currently enjoy on other Apple products. I also would be remiss if I did not mention the recent passage and pending presidential signing of the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act. One of the provisions of this legislation is the requirement for industry to develop set-top boxes that offer accessibility features for blind and low vision users. While this has happened after Apple developed this product, I mention it in hopes that Apple will consider being a leader in this area by making its new ATV accessible in the near future. Please know that like so many others, I am very appreciative of Apple's efforts and leadership by including Voice Over on the iPhone, iPad and other products. However, it seems that Voice Over could have been implemented on this device as well. I look forward to being able to purchase and use the new Apple TV in the future. Virtual cursor of some sort in OS X
Hi everyone, Tried to search the archives for this, probably didn't choose the correct keywords cause I couldn't find what I needed. So I try my luck with this message. A while back I asked about creating hotspots and I remember Anne answering it is only possible in areas which Voice Over can detect and then label. That's loud and clear for me, but now wonder if this also means there is no virtual cursor of some sort like there is in Jaws etc? What I would like to do is to look around a popup screen or dialog window for example for text which VO doesn't say. Tia for your input! RE: trouble creating an account in itunes
Hi Jude and Rafaela, The clicking sound starts when I interact with the field. I have the mouse cursor follow the VO cursor. But I have asked my sighted brother to look at the screen and look what happens in the field. There happens nothing during the clicking and you can just put the password in and log in. The reason I didn't got through that particular screen was because I had to fill some additional information on the Apple account page first. It is all done and fine now. [smile] So Chad, you can just fill in your password. Thanks for your replies. Any additional voice Over voices available?
Hello all, Excuse me if this has been asked before, but I was wondering if there are any (free) additional voices available for Snow Leopard and or IOS 4? Like some funny ones for example. Thanks! RE: other voices for the macintosh computers
Hey Kawal, Nice to see you here also! Saw your name passing by on this list a few times and knew it was you for certain too [smile] How are you, do you still own the Touch Pro 2? I sold my HTC Touch Diamond 2 because I didn't like the Windows Mobile Mobile Speak 4 combo very much. Now have a Nokia n86, but probably get me an iPhone 4 and/or iPad when they become available over here. What Mac do you have? Must tell you a secret...I don't own a Mac yet...tell nobody okay ;-) Gonna buy one as soon as the new desktop models are released (which hopefully will be in a couple of months). I want a desktop model like an iMac or even a Mac Pro cause it needs to be powerful for sound processing and such. Joined this list to learn as much as possible before I get a Mac. Have fun!
