Untappd app not working using VoiceOver
Hi. I and maybe other beer drinkers are using the beer community Untappd for checking in beers. I've been in the loop for beta testing of their iOS app, and found an accessibility bug that is now in the App Store, as either me or the Developer didn't find a way to solve this. It's a PhoneGap built app, using WOWebView, if that helps. Here's what I sent to the Developer just to reproduce the issue: I'll try to cover it step by step. As I'm at work, I will use my workplace for the checkin: 1. I'm opening the app. The search screen appears. 2. I search for "nøgne wit". The auto-search list of beers appear as it should. 3. I select Nøgne Ø Wit (the first result). I double tap once on that beer, and nothing happens. I double tap once again, and the beer screen appears. 4. I double tap on the Checkin button. The checkin screen appears. 5. I choose a venue to checkin to. As the list of suggested venues doesn't contain "Arbeids- og velferdsdirektoratet NAV IT", I double tap the Add Location-button. By swiping a lot, I find the venue "Arbeids- og velferdsdirektoratet NAV IT", and double tap. That doesn't work, so i double tap more. Nothing happens... So the result is that I am not able to checkin the beer at the venue I am at, wich is quite frustrating, as I like to have checkins posted on Swarm, and my venue history on untappd. I'm either not able to go back from here, so the only solution from here is to kill the app, and start all over again, and to end up in a loop - (From step 1). Are there any one here who can help out to solve this? Best regards David -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list. Re: Untappd app not working using VoiceOver
Hi. I forwarded your message to the developer, and got the following back: "Hey david, This is wrong - we are using Standard web component on their web browser component - no different that our last release. Sounds like they may be confused on what your saying." So what could it be then... -David 2016-08-19 12:03 GMT+02.00, Jonathan C. Hi. Yes, I think this lists helps many many out here :-) But a few things: - The subscription process should be done easier, so that people don't need to wait for being approved by an admin. - What about trying out the concept of Hangouts on Google+ in near future? Re: Chrome has become unusable
Hi. As far as I can read out of the discussion, the problem is that when you removed and reinstalled Chrome, you didn't delete your personal Chrome settings (guess it's) found somewhere in the Library folder of your user. See if this helps: What should I do before I change my channel? Back up your data! Before you switch, you should make a backup of your profile (bookmarks, most visited pages, history, cookies, etc). If you ever want to switch back to a more stable channel, your updated profile data might not be compatible with the older version.Make a copy of the User Data\Default directory (for example, copy it to 'Default Backup' in the same location). The location depends on your operating system:Windows XP: Mac OS X: Stable, beta, and dev channels: ~/Library/Application Support/Google/ Chrome/Default Canary builds: ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome Canary/ Default Source: http://www.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel -David On 12 Mar, 01:41, joseph wrote: > i just reinstalled it after a clean lion install and it is working fine here. > > best > On 11 Mar 2012, at 22:54, Teresa Cochran wrote: > > > > > > > > > I can still use it on mine. Starting the phone app automatically after unlocking the phone after upgrading to iOS 5.1
Hi folks. I remember the discussion on iOS 5.1 a week ago, and tried to search the group before posting this, but I couldn't find anything related. Since I thought this was a nice idea, I didn't care that much, but right now this is beginning to piss me a bit off... As the subject says... Have anyone of you had that thing with your iPhone 4S? If so, is it that way it should be, or is it a bug? If it is a bug, is there something to do with that, or do we have to wait for Apple to do something? -Best regards David -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. iPad, iPhone, Mac for the blind
hi folks. I just wonder, and many here have asked, so I thought I'd ask you in this group. What's the benefit for blind people to have an iPad instead of an iPhone? I mean, as far as I can see, the difference is only the screen size... Am I right? Actually I'd like to have one myself, but I can't find any good reasons to have it, since I have both an iPhone and a Mac. Re: iPhone/iPad gamers...
Hi. It's the way the game is played. The concept is, there are lots of squares with letters in, wich shall be combined as as many words as possible in 2 minutes. I like it, but as we all know, sighted have a much easier task to get the whole picture, wich VO-users don't have :p -David -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: Google Reader
Hi. As a many year user of GReader, I'll try to help you out. 1. To go direct to the Google Reader, you can go to http://www.google.com/reader. Put an "/m" at the end of the URL to get to the mobile version wich only can be used for reading, and wich I am using as startpage of all my browsers to stay updated with all new stuff I've subscribed to. 2. When entering the Reader page, you should find a button called "Subscribe". When pressing it, you get a textbox where you shall write the URL for the RSS-feed. Then tab to the "Add"-button and press it. Then you have your first subscribtion. 3. Somewhere under settings, you should also be able to import OPML- files wich you can export from other RSS-readers so you don't need to manually add everything each time you change RSS reader. 4. If you use Chrome, and click on an RSS-button in a blog or wherever you can find it, Chrome pops up a window asking if you'd like to subscribe with Google Reader. I think that's something to start with. Just ask if there's more you'd like to know 'bout this .-) -David -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: Google Reader
Hi. Yes, I use the mobil version for reading, since there are just the reading functionality I need when I open my browser, and I have to go through a list of all new items. I think you'll find what fits bet for your needs :-) I haven't had any sample feeds in my reader. It can be that I made my reader account when Reader was so new. Try go to settings and the subscriptions tab. There you can mark and delete subscriptions. Hope that works. -David Sarai Bucciarelli wrote: > Hi: > Do you have to use the moble version? Hi. There's so much to choose from... I actually can't find what would work, and what's best. Also, as far as I can see, I can't upgrade to more than 8GB in my mid 2010 computer... Is that right? VO behaving weird on iPhone... How to solve that?
Hi folks. Sometimes after long use, VoiceOver is behaving weird on my iPhone. When reading long sentences, VO stops reading, and I can't get it to read everything. For example on Twitter or on Facebook where there can be a bit longer posts, VO reads the first part, and I can't get it to read the whole thing. If I flick to the right, it reads the next. I've only found two ways to solve this: 1. After flicking through lots of Facebook posts in the newsfeed or Twitter messages, VO stops speaking. Then I have to lock the phone, and wait a few minutes. After that, VO works as it should. 2. Reboot the phone. Anyone here who have a more efficient solution to this? Transfering messages and health data from an old iPhone to a new one
Hi. Now that I\m going to buy a new phone (iPhone 6S) I have to prepair transfering all my data to it from my old one (iPhone 5S). As I run the public beta of iOS 9.1 on the 5S, I've tried to find ways to transfer over to the new one wich will have iOS 9 on it. The only Critical information to transfer is Messages and Health data I haven't found any solution for transfering it. The rest is in the cloud, so that should work well. I've been searching for ways to transfer it on the internet, but there are absolutely no good how-to's With the criterias iOS 9 and iOS 9 Public beta 9.1. If Apple could wait to release beta of iOS 9.1, I hadn't had the problem, I guess. Maybe someone here have, or are going to have that experience when you over there get Your hands on the iPhone 6S before us in Norway. Hope for good solutions. Thanks much in advance. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Gmail's All Mail folder not working properly in Mail on iOS 7
Hi. As the subject says, I have a problem with the All Mail folder in Gmail on iOS 7. After seting it up using the Google settings, I recieve mails a little while, but after some time, no mails arrives in that folder anymore. When checking other folders, such as the Inbox, Sent Mail, Trash and my custom made folders, they all works as they should. When deleting and setting it up again, the same happens. On my old iPhone 4S it happens, and also on my 5S. As a developer, I've been able to check this on iOS 7.1 too, but it seems to behave the same way. What I don't remember, is if my iPad 4 downloads all mail without stopping. But that should be the only thing I hen't tried. Hope someone can help Best regards David -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. VoiceOver and tables on the web
Hi. Does anyone here know if VoiceOver (both on Mac and iOS) are able to read tables on the web that uses the aria-describedby tag? Here is an example, though in norwegian (just so you understand what kind of tables I meean). Hope for good answers. Music and iTunes
Hi folks. I have a few questions wich I hope someone have a good answer to :) - I think we have meen into this first topic before, but maybe there have happened something lately wich I've not discovered... Have anyone found a way to copy music from iPod Touch (3rd generation) into iTunes that works without too much hassle? Will this be possible if I jailbreak my iPod? - Where's the button (in iTunes 10.3) to download already purchased music? I've only found a such button in the purchased-list in the library, but when clicking on that one, I only get the list of apps and books. Hoping for good answers. -Kind regards David -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Hi folks. Have anyone here got invites for Google+? If so, have you been able to use it? NAS or USB?
Hi folks. I'm on my way to buy storage for all my stuff (especially my music library). What's the best way to go? I have lots of computers (4, 3 in use - 1 Windows and 2 Macs). So far, I'll go for using iTunes as the primary music application - wich also have its issues, but if needed, I'll change to something else if there are. I'll choose between a NAS wich I'll connect to my network, or a USB-disc that I can connect to only one of my computers. Anyone who have been out for this case and have good solutions? I'm open for almost everything, as long as it's as compatible to everything as possible. Wow... So there are NAS'es that handles iTunes libraries in an acceptable way too? :) Then we're speaking! Hi. I'll follow up with another big accessibility issue, and 2 other ones on my Mac Mini with iTunes 10.4 and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Due to not enough RAM, I can't upgrade to 10.7.: 1. When using grid view, and selecting the podcast I'll look into (VO+Space), VoiceOver most often restarts, and sometimes not start again after shutting down. 2. Podcasts redownload themselves after being played and removed. 3. Sometimes when playing something, iTunes freezes the whole machine, and it have to be turned off and restarted. Re: Spotify not accessible on Snow Leopard
Hi man. I've been using Spotify for almost 2,5 years on Windows now. And yes, it's totally unaccessible on both 10.6 and 10.7. And, don't be afraid - I think, what have happened, is that Spotify have added your itunes library so you can listen to both your local and the cloud music without having to use two applications. You have 2 ways to see if it's local or cloud music: 1. Look into the "Local Files" on the left side, or 2. There are an icon for local file when you're searching for music somewhere there before or after the song-title. -David On Tue, Jul 26, 2011 at 19:55, Kevin Gibbs wrote: > Guys, > I just downloaded Spotify and installed it. the application is > completely inaccessible with VO on Mac under Snow Leopard. Hi again. When I select an artist, and press play, it plays all the songs thats listed, so I'm not sure what you're doing wrong. One of the purposes of Spotify is playlists. Hi. This is somehow off-topic, but I try it anyway... Here's something JAWS-stuff I played around with, and it works ok for me and other here in Norway: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1394111/spotify-0.4.zip Put the files inside to your JAWS-settings-directory, and see if it helps. Setting up an automation with Automator...
Hi folks. Can someone here tell me in short how I set up an automation with Automator using VoiceOver? Making a Windows computer a "ruter" for my Macs
Hi folx. Maybe someone here on the list can tell me what I shall do to be able to connect my Macs to the Internet? I made a router out of my Windows-computer, following this guide: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/cool-websites/home-computer-router/ Then I connected my iPod Touch, wich went well, after that I began connecting Macs. Both found the network, and it seemed that they were connected to it, but they didn't use the internet connection from the computer as they should - actually nothing happened. Is there maybe things I should do other than suggested in that guide? Kind regards David -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. iOS 7, the worse update for norwegians using VoiceOver
Hi folks. With a developer account, I've had time to playaround with iOS 7 on my iPhone 4S over a month now. After updating to iOS 7, I found that the norwegian voice have changed, and to a new and quite unusable one. I immediatly reached out to the accessibility team at apple to report this mistake, and they said they couldn't help with unreleased software, so they "forwarded" me to the bug reporting tool on the developer page, wich is not that VoiceOver friendly. I managed to report a bug regarding the voice, and nothing have happened since. Yesterday, when I confirmed that the update was available, I sendt away a mail again to the accessibility team regarding this, and after a few mails, they said they forwarded my request to get back the old voice to the speech team. Since norwegians are few, I encourage norwegian VO-users to report the voice issue to apple. Also I was able to speak about the problem in the media. You can read the article here: http://www.digi.no/922924/iphone-snakker-daarligere-norsk For non-scandinavian, just use Google Translate. Are there someone here who can help in any way? New to VMWare Fusion
Hi folks. I've just set up a virtual Mac using VMWare Fusion. Now I wonder any of you can answher the following questions: 1. By now, when I fire up my virtual machine, I am in the Fusion window, turn off VoiceOver n my host mac and wait for the virtual mac to start VoiceOver. Then I use tab alot, and then I get access to the computer. Is there any easier ways to have control over what I'm doing? 2. Can I switch between the host and virtual Macs, and use them with VoiceOver? 3. Always after I'm finished using my virtual machine, I turn it off. Do I have to do that? Also the above applies to this question. 4. At work, on Windows, we're using VMWare View, wich lets me "stream" a virtual computer from a server. I'd like to throw my virtual Mac onto a NAS or something server like, and run it from there. Also, I'd like to be able to use that computer away from home, but I don't know if also that is possible? 5. Will I be able to do the above by getting a Mac Mini Server where I can load my virtual machine? Hope someone can help Best regards David -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: New to VMWare Fusion
Hi, and thanks for an answer. I have to call it a virtual Mac, as it is that it is. I don't run Windows on it. Now, I run it in Fusion on my MacBook Pro. I'm considering buying a Mac Mini Server to run it on if I like the solution. Then my thought was to be able to launch it from my MB Pro or mye Windows computer using VMWare View or what it is called. Now, the largest problem is that VoiceOver on both machines have the same commands, and I don't know of any way to change wich machine I'm playing with. When in the virtual Mac have focus, and I press Command-Tab, I just switch between applications on that machine, and then don't know of any way to switch back and forth between that one and the "host" one. Hope that was a bit more clear. -David kl. 15:52:23 UTC+2 tirsdag 8. oktober 2013 skrev phil halton følgende: > First of all, you should probably stop calling it a virtual mac, it's > confusing. its a virtual machine running windows on mac hardware. Playing videos on iPhone
Hi folks. I have a kind of weird issue here... When I play videos on my iPhone using headphones, the sound is very weird, it sounds like it has some kind of compressor on it. I've tried the following to find the issue: - Played other kind of media (music, spotify, youtube, etc) on the phone: Worked - Played the same video on the phone from my Mac via home sharing (or what it was called): Same issue - Played the video directly on my Mac, with the same headphones: Worked So until now, my conclusion is that the video works, but there must be some settings on the phone that does that. Any ideas? Thanks in advance - David -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Apple Remote Desktop
Hi folks. Have anyone here tried Apple Remote Desktop (https://itunes.apple.com/no/app/apple-remote-desktop/id409907375?l=nb&mt=12)? Does it do what the name says, and can I remote control a computer with VoiceOver? Is there anything to have in mind if buying this one? I'll use it to help friends when they're stuck on their Macs. Best way to colaborate with Windows users
Hi. I guess this have been up for discussions lots of times, but I hope there are someone who can answer anyway. What are the best solution for Mac users who are colaborating on documents from Windows-users? I mean. - With Pages, one can edit the document, but have to export it to doc-format. The solution works, but it's not very user friendly, and especially for new Mac users who have been using MS Word for years. - Libreoffice, OpenOffice.org and MS Office, how accessible are they now-a-day? -Best regards David -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. How to help blind people new to Mac learn it as fast and smooth as possible
Hi folks. As far as I know, there are many here in this group who are helping blind people switching from Windows to Mac. Do you have any strategies to help them get fast into the VoiceOver commands, and how they can "distance" them selves from the Windows platform, and learn Mac the best way there is? For example, is the best way to first learn to use VoiceOver with the QuickKeys, or the hard way with so many keys pressed at once some times? What about what to learn first, do you learn them a piece of software (such as Mail or Safari) or how the OS and how VoiceOver interacts with it before going into apps? All comments on this is really welcome. Best regards David -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Thanks for this, Anne. When they aren't much into visualizing the screen, but are familiar with iPhone. Would it then be an idea for them to use the trackpad for visualizing purposes? Actually I use it myself to get better overview of new apps, and it works very well for me. -David On Wed, Jan 9, 2013 at 6:47 PM, Anne Robertson wrote: > Hello David, > > Different people learn in different ways. Synchronizing contacts between Google, iPhone and Nokias with Symbian S60
Hi folks. This could sound a bit off topic, but as lots of blind people haven't converted from old Nokias to iPhone or other smart alternatives yet, this should be some how relevant. On the iPhone side, there's no problems synchronizing contacts between phone and Google since iOS supports CardDav for syncing of contacts, and that will be the only way Google will support syncing in the future. By now, and until january 31., people having a Nokia with S60 can synchronize their contacts to Google, and then to iPhone using SyncML or Mail for Exchange. And the question is, does anyone here have a solution for those who haven't synced before that date? Note: This wan't affect users who already have used SyncML and Exchange syncing. They will continue to have this support on the devices it is enabled for before that date. Note 2: People who gets an iPhone after january 31. can't either sync contacts via Exchange, but have to stick with CardDav - Wich is a way better solution according to Google. It's also an open protocol. Syncing the calendar via CalDav instead of Exchange is also a good idea. -David -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: Synchronizing contacts between Google, iPhone and Nokias with Symbian S60
Hi. Why do it that complicated? You could use CardDav on the Mac too. The issue here is how to sync the Nokia phone. Here in Norway, still few have a Mac :-( And that could possibly solve the problem, if there is a way to use iSync on Mountain Lion to sync with the Nokia one. After all, maybe it is possible to copy iSync from a Mac with Snow Leopard, and use it that way. I know it worked with Lion. -David On Fri, Jan 11, 2013 at 7:35 PM, Chris Bruinenberg wrote: > Hi David. > One thing i tried and I'm not sure if this has worked all the way. > Since i have a mac, i used an app called google contacts sync it synced all > my contacts from gmail and my phone and computer. > I think the app cost 4 dollars. > I think the only way you can do this is to set up a google account on the > phone with mail, and a separate one with contacts. > > On Jan 11, 2013, at 10:30 AM, David Hole wrote: > >> Hi folks. >> >> This could sound a bit off topic, but as lots of blind people haven't >> converted from old Nokias to iPhone or other smart alternatives yet, >> this should be some how relevant. >> >> On the iPhone side, there's no problems synchronizing contacts between >> phone and Google since iOS supports CardDav for syncing of contacts, >> and that will be the only way Google will support syncing in the >> future. >> By now, and until january 31., people having a Nokia with S60 can >> synchronize their contacts to Google, and then to iPhone using SyncML >> or Mail for Exchange. >> And the question is, does anyone here have a solution for those who >> haven't synced before that date? >> >> Note: This wan't affect users who already have used SyncML and >> Exchange syncing. Connecting Chrome Remote Desktop to a Mac
Hi folks. On monday, Google launched the official releas of Chrome Remote Desktop, wich I tried out the same day. I really like this! I tried the following configurations: 1. Connecting to my Windows 8 computer from my Macbook 2. Connecting to my Macbook from my Windows 8 computer 3. Connecting to my Macbook from my Mac Mini 4. Connecting to my Windows 8 computer from my mac Mini I entcounterd a few issues: - One have to turn off the screen reader on both (maybe that shouldn't be defined as an issue...) - Connecting to Mac didn't deliver sound, while connecting to Windows did. - I haven't found any ways to "lock" the keyboard to Chrome, so I can't shift between apps on the remote machine by using Cmd-Tab/Alt+Tab. If I do so, it goes to the next app on the computer I sit by. - It doesn't seem like the remote Windows computer tells that there are running a screen reader (in my case JAWS). Touch keyboard on iPad not working
Hi folks. I know there are lots of knowledge in here, and I hope there are someone here who can help me out with the following issue. I have a friend who have an iPad 3rd gen, wich she updated to iOS6. After the update, she couldn't write mail, since when she doubletapped on the text field in the body of the mail, the keyboard popped up, but it was greyed out. This only happens when writing mail, and when VoiceOver is turned on.Any ideas of what that could be, and how this can be solved? Thanks in advance. -David -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. To post to this group, send email to macvisionaries@googlegroups.com. Foursquare connected app helps fill a database of accessibility information for the disabled
Hi folks. I just came across this article about a new project called Accessible Together, wich seems quite intresting. Read about it here: http://aboutfoursquare.com/access-together-foursquare/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+AboutFoursquare+%28About+Foursquare%29&utm_content=Google+Reader I just tried adding some information, but it felt a bit slow with VoiceOver, so I'll report that. -David -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Recording to an iDevice from a mixer
Hi folks. Have anyone here tried recording directly from a mixer, for example a concert, using an iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch? If so, what did you use to record? I mean, is it possible to just connect from for example headphones on the mixer, and directly to the iDevice, or do I need some extra stuff for this? What app(s) is recommended for recording for example a concert? I've taken a look at FiRe wich is mainly designed for broadcasters, but it have all features needed for just pressing record and stop :-) Best David -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. My iPhone is slow on my WiFi network
Hi folks. Can maybe someone here help me how to solve this... When I'm using my iPhone 4S on my home network, the internet connection are very slow. I actually can't play youtube videos, and loading web pages is also slow. My computers, a MacBook Pro and one with windows works as they should. When I go to other wifi's my phone works. When turning off my phone, it also works. It seemed that it worked when I rebooted the phone, but when I left and came back, it seemed to have become bad again. Have somenone here found the same issue? On my computers, I can track such issues by using the command line, but not on iPhones :-( Hope there are a solution for this... Thanx in advance. The mac using braille display...
Hi folks. Does anyone of you using braille know a way to make the use of braill displays on the mac morefficient? On windows using for example jaws, checkboxes are marked like "< >" and "" on the braille display. On the mac the checkboxes are just like the voice speaks it, "checked" and "unchecked". That way, it takes more time to read and it is inefficient when browsing around with VO. IMO the braille support on the mac can be a lot better than it is right now. So I hope all of us using braille will give Apple hints how to improve the braille-side of VO. HELP! Corrupted iTunes library in Windows!
Hi folks I need help here! About 12 hours ago, I had to reboot my windows-machine. Fter that I fired up iTunes. In itunes there were a bunch of music that had lost their tags... Everything from album and artist names and titles. All track-numbers and album-numbers seemed to be there. I don't know if the music it-self is somehow corrupted, but I hope not... Maybe someone can say anything about this...? Since the tags and stuff is messed up, also the folder and file-names are totally messed up. Is it possible in some ways to revert to something that works? I'd like to add that I have a huge music library, and I've heard that iTunes is bad at handling large libraries at all. Within the itunes folder there are several sub folders, but the one labeled itunes media or something with the word media in it should have subfolders for all of your stuff.
