Re: hbogo.com: Flash Site; Is There a Workaround?

2013-03-12 Thread Christopher Kchao
WHile I don't personally use the service, observation would have me guess that
the site directs the user to a different page where they can download the app,
when viewed from the phone. This is unless there's a mobile site, which is less
likely altogether. Feel free to correct me on any of this.
I'm getting the same empty HTML content on the Mac over here as well.

Re: Off topic: Windows7 32bit or 64bit on the mac with fusion?

2013-03-14 Thread Christopher Kchao
To my knowledge, 32-bit won't see anything beyond 4Gb of RAM. Using 64-bit
Windows probably wouldn't do any harm, even if it helps nothing.
I'm sure others on list will chime in if there are any discrepancies in the
information I provided.

Re: Mail messages are in folder, but the text is not being read

2013-03-15 Thread Christopher Kchao
Can you be more specific in terms of what feedback you're actually getting from
VO? Upon hitting return on a message, there should be a "message content" table
that you're already interacting with, and pressing VO + right arrow should get
you to the intended text. It's a bit difficult to direct you without knowing
what voiceover is doing in favor of what you actually want.

Best office/productivity suite

2013-03-22 Thread Christopher Kchao
Hi all,
I'm a relatively recent full-time Mac adopter (< 1 year), though I've had
experiences with earlier iterations of OSX. I'm curious as to what
office/productivity suites you all find to be the most usable with VO. The two
options that immediately come to mind are Apple's iWork and OpenOffice.
Currently I mainly do word processing using Pages, and from what I'm gathering,
it's not so much inaccessible as it is convoluted. There seems to be somewhat
of a learning curve, and the procedures for doing certain tasks aren't
necessarily obvious. For example, the handling of tables in Word docs.
I mainly purchased iWork due to completely forgetting about OpenOffice, and I
haven't looked back. Is something like OpenOffice worth exploring? Does it
provide more in the way of accessibility or ease of use?
There are likely a ton of other application suites beyond the ones I
mentioned,, thus feel free to provide me with alternatives if you believe they
work better.
Thanks in advance

Re: MacBook Inquiries.

2013-03-23 Thread Christopher Kchao
Hi,
There exists a multitude of configuration options for storage. I believe you're
talking about the macBOok pro line, the one with the optical drive.
Off the top of my head, I believe it starts out at 500Gb and up for hard
drives. And then there are a bunch of SSD flash storage options. Quicker seek
time and no moving parts etc.

Re: MacBook Inquiries.

2013-03-23 Thread Christopher Kchao
Solid state drive use flash and no moving parts, as opposed to conventional
hard drives. THis essentially enable them to operate faster. If you're not
doing anything too terribly intensive, it may be difficult to see immediate
benefits from going with a SSD. Conventional hard drives are significantly more
economical.

If you can tab to the button, you may be able to simply press space to

Alternatively, have you tried routing the mouse pointer to the button

the trick.

VO+command+F5 routes the mouse pointer to wherever the voiceover cursor is
located.
Move your VO cursor to the location of the button, press VO+command+F5, and
then VO+shift+space to click.

Re: Here we go again with Facebook . . . status issue

2013-04-20 Thread Christopher Kchao
Use VO+space on the text that says "What's on your mind?" Then move over to the
edit field that's just after the "post" button. Works just fine on this end.

Using the Messages Mac app for Facebook chat

2013-04-25 Thread Christopher Kchao
Hi all,
Recently, I began noticing a problem with the Messages app on my Mac. All other
services (AIM/iMessage) seem to be working just as they once did. However, the
buddy list for Facebook chat is no longer populating. Typically, the list is
completely empty, though I do get 1, no more than 2 names in there
occasionally. THis is likely just after they sign in. I haven't yet heard
anyone else express experiencing this issue, so perhaps I inadvertently clicked
something to bring this on.
Thoughts?

Re: Using the Messages Mac app for Facebook chat

2013-04-25 Thread Christopher Kchao
Yes, I'd done this sometime last year. I've been using Facebook chat in this
way for quite a while now, and have only been experiencing the buddy list
problem over the past several days.
