Facebook randomly not Connecting to Messages

2015-12-03 Thread Christine Olivares
Hello everyone,
Last night, Facebook decided to randomly stop connecting to Messages. When I
try to connect it, it asks for my password because it can’t connect. I type it
in, and the same glitch happens. I type in my correct password, and the exact
same message pops up…any suggestions?

thanks so much,
Christine

Mack Compatible Assistive Technology Software for Mac or Iphone

2013-12-30 Thread Christine Olivares
Hello everyone,
I will be starting a work experience soon, but I need to be able to read
printed materials. I really don't want to go back to using JAWS or a Windows
computer unless I absolutely have to. I was wondering if there is OCR software
for the Mack, what scanner I have to get, etc. If there is nothing for the
Mack, is there an app for the iPhone where I can take a picture of the document
and my phone reads the material to me?

thanks for your help. Have a great day!!

Re: Has anyone with an IPhone 5 also had this issue?

2013-01-03 Thread Christine Olivares
YOu have my sympathy. I also have the second issue. What I do is take the phone
off my ear, then press two fingers on the screen to shut her up. As for Siri
being quieter, I actually prefer it because I don't want to use headphones. For
me, it's not really that much of a difference though.

God bless,

Messages Incorrectly Labeling Text Messages as Imessages

2014-10-29 Thread Christine Olivares
Hello all,
For some strange reason, Messages is incorrectly labeling text messages as
iMessages. So when I send a text message from my computer, it says, “iMessage,
edit text” instead of “Text message, edit text.” This just started today.
Before today, both were labeled correctly. Any ideas as to why this is
happening?

The text message still sends, but it is frustrating when the edit field is not
labeled correctly. Thanks,

Christine

Re: Messages Incorrectly Labeling Text Messages as Imessages

2014-10-29 Thread Christine Olivares
Yes I am running Yosemite. What happens is the exact opposite of what you said.
These people I message do not have iPhones, so it is obviously a text message.
When I go to message them, it tells me I am sending an iMessage when I am
sending a text message. So the labels are incorrect. Like I said, this just
started today.

Thanks,
Christine

Deleting audible books

2013-05-26 Thread Christine Olivares
Hello everyone,
I have a question about the audible app. I returned books over the phone, but
they are still in my downloads since I have an iPhone. whenever I buy a book, I
download it to my iPhone. However, when the book is returned to audible, the
books are still on my phone in the "downloaded" section. any ideas how to
delete them? When I double tap, it starts playing the book even when it is
returned.

Thanks for your help and time. god bless.

Re: Deleting audible books

2013-05-26 Thread Christine Olivares
I just looked, and there doesn't seem to be a delete button. I went to the "my
library" category on the app. Here are the buttons: "categories, back button,"
a "my library" heading, "last played button," and you have a choice of ordering
the books either by recent, title, and author. The final button is the refresh
button. Where is the delete button?

Sorry to be a bother. :) God bless.

Introducing myself

2012-09-01 Thread Christine Olivares
Hello everyone,
My name is Christine. My membership slipped through the cracks, and I was
finally approved. I got a mac in december of 2011, and my husband told me about
this group. Since then, I have been waiting for my membership to be approved.

I want to thank Cara for figuring everything out so I could be approved. I feel
I am much more independent now that I have my Mac. I am a slower learner, but I
am getting the hang of it and love it so much more than JaWS.

It is great to be on this mailing list. I am excited to learn more about the
Mac. Again, thank you, Cara, for all you did for me. God bless you all.

YOu know, you don't need the toolbar to forward. Just press command shift F to

2012-09-14 Thread Christine Olivares
Hello Timothy,
I just listened to your song. I have some vision as well, and you did a great
job from what I could see.

I am a singer and I play piano, and love playing Christian music and singing
it. I thought you did a great job. I'm assuming that was you playing the guitar
and singing? YOu remind me of a country singer. Keep up the good work.

God bless.

Music notation app

2012-11-10 Thread Christine Olivares
Hello everyone,
I have a friend who just got a Mac, and he is a music major in college. He
would like to know if there are any apps for music composition. He has to
compose music notes and share them with others.

Thanks so much and have a great day.

Christine

Re: captcha solving service for the mac.

2012-12-01 Thread Christine Olivares
Hey,
I would totally understand what you are saying if the Captcha costed something
like $5 per image, but give me a break? It's only 18 cents. If you have a
successful business for blind people, you wouldn't have one with the attitude
you have. If you didn't charge anything, your business would go up in smoke.
HOw do you think Freedom Scientific does their development? If they did
everything for free, then there wouldn't be much for those that don't use a
Mac. I was a JAWS user until I got the Mac, and I would have been lost without
it.

Just because you are blind doesn't mean you should have everything given to you
for free. just call Humanware and talk to them. they would tell you the same
thing. Services like this charge hundreds for Braille note takers, and you are
complaining about 18 cents?

Those free Captcha services don't have a future as much because they are free.
I would appreciate that there is something that is inexpensive and will b
around for a while.

Being visually impaired, I think some things should be free, but i also think
some things should charge too. This is one of these things.

Thanks,
Christine
