I’ve tried everything. Number sign, no number sign, number sign plus upper case numbers, number sign plus lower case numbers. I can activate the field, but no text ever seems to be entered. RE: Seeking help from someone who uses an Hable
Donna, I tried one of these a while back but it wasn't exactly a good fit for me. However, if I'm remembering right, have you tried typing the number sign, then regular letters, a for #1, b for #2, etc. You don't use computer braille numbers here. I may still have some notes I took buried somewhere, I'll take a look today. >From the manual: 3.8. Numbers Press 3,4,5,6 first. This is to create a distinction between typing letters and numbers. Then, button 1 on the Hable One gives number one. Button 1 and 2 gives number two and so on. You might notice, these are in the same order as alphabets. To go back to typing alphabets, press button 8 for space and continue. Hi, Pete, I tried that, with no results. I’m obviously missing something, but I have no idea what. I’m thinking it may not be a good fit for me either. RE: Additional RE: Seeking help from someone who uses an Hable
Hi Donna, My biggest reason for not hanging onto the Hable was that I'm much more used to doing as much typing as possible with QWERTY keyboards. Almost immediately after I got my first iPhone I picked up an Apple wireless keyboard that I use when I'm in my home office and need to type, I connect via Braille when I'm on the road with a 20-character Brailliant, whose Braille keyboard does me just fine when I need it. And then there's always Siri if I get stuck. LOL For those who prefer Braille and/or Grade 2 Braille all the time, albeit there's a bit of a learning curve, the Hable could be a really nice and compact option. Hi Pete, I’ll be there for six weeks, so I’m definitely taking my Brailliant. And that may just be my device. But I was thinking that an Hable could be really handy on the flights there and back. It’s a long flight, so having a device that tiny on the plane would be super convenient if it works. Re: Seeking help from someone who uses an Hable
You can definitely enter your password without taking the phone out of your pocket or purse. Since I got the Hable I very rarely need to touch my phone. That is one of the things I love most about the Hable. I can keep my phone out of sight and still interact with it. Re: Seeking help from someone who uses an Hable
This is how I enter my password using the Hable. I unlock the phone by holding down the letter h on the Hable. This is the home command. At this point you should be on the lock screen. My iPhone uses face ID, so I need to do the home command a couple of times until it says enter password. I then press dots 3-4-5-6. This is the number sign. Please note I said press dots 3-4-5-6, do not hold them down. After pressing number sign, the Hable should vibrate. At this point you should be able to enter your password. If your password is numbers and letters you will have to use dots 5-6 before each letter. If you are still having problems you can make sure the Hable is in iPhone mode. To do this, go into the Hable menu by holding down all 6 dots. After feeling the vibrations hold down dot 2. This will ensure that you are in iPhone mode. You can also try going into the Hable menu by holding down all 6 dots. After the vibrations hold down dots 1-5 the letter e to make sure your Hable is set to English. Lastly, you can hold down the letter g dots 1, 2, 4, and 5. This switches the Hable between grades 1 and 2. 1 vibration means you are in grade 1 and 2 means you are in Grade 2. Please keep in mind that you don't go into the Hable menu to use the g command. I hope some of these ideas will help you.
