Re: Mack questions

2023-06-25 Thread Mike Arrigo
As far as extended batteries, you might consider getting a power bank, these
are portable batteries with USB ports that will charge recent mac laptops that
charge over USB C.
As far as speaking the information you asked about, pressing VO+F7 once will
provide the time and date and pressing it twice will provide battery
information.

I don’t have this power bank but I do have other Anker products and they are
great so I would suggest checking out this power bank from them.

Re: Finder issues becoming more severe

2023-06-25 Thread Mike Arrigo
Drives should not be disappearing, I have two M1 Mac minis and I have used USB
flash drives and a Seagate mechanical hard drive, sometimes connected to one of
the USB A ports and other times using a USB C to USB A adapter and have not had
any problems at all. One thing I would suggest, always connect drives to the
Mac itself, no hubs or keyboard ports, those can definitely cause problems.

Unable to read tables in Safari

2023-06-25 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi Michael,

For some reason, my original reply to Michael was sent via a different address.
 Here it is again.

Here’s an example of a page where I can’t read the table. You have to scroll
down a lot, but eventually, you get to a grid, which I presume contains a list
of shows on Hulu. I cannot read anything in that grid.

Re: Unable to read tables in Safari

2023-06-25 Thread Brad Snyder
Hi Donna,

I visited the website you referenced, and am unable to read the table as well.
When I navigate to the table, VoiceOver announces “grid, empty table”.
I am unable to interact, or navigate because apparently, VoiceOver finds no
content in the table.
Obviously, the web designers have done something very strange.

Re: Finder issues becoming more severe

2023-06-25 Thread 'Mary Ward' via MacVisionaries
John: Yes, I finally contacted them, after so many times I made up excuses or
thought maybe I had done something wrong. I was not able to stay with them
long enough to do the first aid, but they confirmed that something was indeed
wrong. Time Machine only kicked back in when I disconnected and then
reconnected the drive, but it was supposed to be backing up all the time. I
had not looked lately and it had been over a month!

I will be going on a trip for almost three weeks, and this Mac is not going.
So I will have to take care of it when I get back. I don’t know what this
could possibly be, if it’s a hardware problem, something corrupt, or what. But
I can be assured that it will not be convenient. But on the bright side, I may
learn more about my Mac system than I would have otherwise. Just hope I don’t
have to spend a lot of money! I have always liked this M1, but it seems to be
sick right now.

Re: Unable to read tables in Safari

2023-06-25 Thread Herbie Allen
I wonder if it’s a graphical table rather than a plain html one? I was curious
so I tried reader mode, it didn’t even see the table. Regular tables work just
fine though.

I did not really understand the information on the Apple Support page. I don’t
think the problem is the drives themselves or even the hub I was using. So
when I get back in July, I will try to fix it over the phone with them and if
that doesn’t work, I will take it to the store. Sure hope I don’t have to get
a new Mac. This one is too new for that, being a 2020 Mac mini that I like a

Hi Donna,

I'll second that I have issues with tables in some instances in Safari.

It would be interesting if anyone can share some site that they experience
issues with to see if other people are, as maybe it's a configuration issue
that some of us have not made an order to navigate tables. All of the tables I
have problems with our internal tools that I cannot share access to, however,
it does pop up occasionally, and this is what pushed me to actually purchase
parallels. I wanted to actually work, and could not do that in Safari, or edge
with VoiceOver on the Mac, as the table would not allow you to use your
VoiceOver plus up and down, left and right keys in order to navigate it at all.
And, disabling the ability to group tables had no impact.
