Re: What audio editing apps work well on the Mac with Voiceover

2021-08-09 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi!
I still wonder why mac’s own Logic Pro isn’t better supported by VoiceOver.
It works and I am not a good user but it should work better I think.

Re: Keeping an open app in the doc in big sur?

2021-08-09 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Hello,

I thought this was fixed in 11.5 In any case, it might not be you, but the OS.
The main thing to know about Big Sur is its has a second contextual menu called
actions.
This is access with vo-command-space . It usually has the regular contextual
menu as the last item.

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Re: What audio editing apps work well on the Mac with Voiceover

2021-08-09 Thread Eric Oyen
Hmmm. Ok, that was something I wasn’t aware of. I have an older model white
book that uses OS X Lion. Since that’s my goto multimedia machine, that is the
version I tend to use (I think it was last updated to 1.5.3 and that was as far
as it went). It might be time to test later versions on my Catalina based Mac
mini here and see what’s up.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Re: What audio editing apps work well on the Mac with Voiceover

2021-08-09 Thread Eric Oyen
Well, considering the cost, wouldn’t it be better to have a two tiered setup
here?

Pro tools is great if you are in the professional audio editing and production
field, but many of us don’t have that kind of cash laying around. How about a
basic version that gives us some basic functions (like editing, clipping,
joining and perhaps single type cross fading between joined clips?. Sell it for
$19 on a yearly subscription and have an option to upgrade to pro built in. I
have some forensics software that I purchased on this model for drive recovery
and imaging. The basic was $59 and gave me what I needed. Now, if I were to
upgrade to the enterprise version, that would be $500 annually. Unless I am in
a professional environment needing that level of access, I don’t consider it
worth the investment. Btw, that package is called disk drill (a combo drive
recovery and forensics package).

In the case of audio tools, there are quite a few out there. Some are
accessible and some are not. There is also the macports tree with a lot of
command line tools that can accomplish a great deal (I know, it’s how I have
recoded my entire video library to be able to play on any device). With those
command line tools, I can also transcode one format to another (MP3’s are nice,
but lossy and my ears can tell).

Anyway, hopefully you find my suggestion workable.

 Hi!
There is Amadeus Pro but its not very easy to use but works very well.
Jonathan Mosen has made a daisy book on how to use the Amadeus Pro.
There is also twisted wave which also is available for iOS.
I was going to learn it but there has been so much things in the way.
