Saving as m3u

2021-06-21 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi!
I can not save m3u files in textedit.
Not on my MacBook with Big Sur.
It tells me I have to save it as a .rtf or .rtf.m3u.
So can I save it as .rtf and then rename it maybe?

RE: Xcode accessibility and best MacBook for coding?

2021-06-21 Thread lists

Hi Yuma,
Excellent. I'll check out that podcast for sure.
It's my first time developing an app and whilst I have some experience via way
of a Dip in IT, I'm looking to upskill. That Diploma was heavy on Windows and
did not touch on apple at all. I really appreciate the insight from you and
others on list. Everyone on here is ever so kind.
I'm sure I'll have more questions as time goes on.
Respectfully,

Hey all,

Just kicking in my long experience with swift (I started in 2015).

X-code is fully accessible and creating IB outlets or references etc have been
so since probably 2016. It just took a bit more time to create them with voice
over, however they are intentionally there to allow your co-worker to quickly
see the prototyped interface frames and view controllers, and set parameters
for the standard UI controls. Writing in code is great, however sometimes ops
are those who design more than they code, so I believe it is better to write
using an interface that allows other portions of the team to use xcode with.
Such instances are useful for SceneKit or SpriteKit, particle systems, 3D
objects, or a mix of both standard UI and custom 3D Ui objects.

Swift as a language has been chosen as part of the most popular ones besides
java and python because of its syntax and ability to adopt c code within its
code blocks. it's also a functional language so mathematically it is very
useful and readable.

If you want to dabble straight into SceneKit's 3D audio system, I'll refer you
to my podcast list which also have code snippets to do intermediate and
advanced 3D audio stuff. You can find them in the lab section of my website at
> https://www.oseyeris.com/the-lab

Swift is also becoming the favorite language for machine learning, and has its
own tensorflow package. All we need to wait for are the m-2 and beyond chips on
which tf will provide parallel computing, and swift will be more useful than it
already is.

Cheers,

Yuma

Re: Mac app for playing internet radio feeds

2021-06-21 Thread dan d.

Perhaps not what you had in mind, the software for the amazon alexa smart
speakers is available free on macs and operates entirely by voice.
It has access to web stations am/fm domestically and around the globe. By
voice you mention the call sign, frequency or station name to start
playing a station. Not to mention the many many other features and functions
that are available on alexa.

No. Once the station starts playing, I paste that link into a text file and
give it the m3u extention. Did not know Alexa is available for Mac.

Change the file to text before saving. You do this with Control Command T. You
can then save the file as any extention including m3u

Re: Mac app for playing internet radio feeds

2021-06-21 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi!
Its all about accessibility.
The player works like a charm but I want Vlc player instead.
SO I guess I have to dig behind the embedded player.
I could do that in windows with replay radio or some other app but I haven’t
found any such resource for the Mac but I will try.

Perhaps not what you had in mind, the software for the amazon alexa smart
speakers is available free on macs and operates entirely by voice.
It has access to web stations am/fm domestically and around the globe. By
voice you mention the call sign, frequency or station name to start
playing a station. Not to mention the many many other features and
functions that are available on alexa.

Alexa on Mac.

2021-06-21 Thread Herbie Allen
Someone mentioned you can use Alexa on the mac. So far, I have not found an
easy way of doing this other than the browser. I lookied in the app store and I
see some thrid-party utilities that cost. Therefore, if you use Alexa on the
Mac, how do you access her?

I would just go to tunein.com and play the

TuneIn is the service that applications such as Amazon Alexa use to play
radio stations.

Are you sure this is what you want to do? The crontab manual page says
that the functionality of Cron has been superseded in Mac OS by launchd.
The same, incidentally, has occurred in Linux, where systemd timer units
are used instead of Cron jobs nowadays - at least for most purposes.

2021-06-21 Thread Jonathan C. Cohn
most mentions of this package indicate its use as the base of wordppess
running on a Mac. Cron used to be used to regularly run a process at the same
time on an hourly, daily or weekly process. If you are indeed installing
Wordpress, you wouldn't want to use cron even if it was still stupporting
supported on modern Unix systems. Also at reast one installation guide I saw
for a unifiied apache, php, and mysql package recomended very lax security
sugestions. This is fine as long as 'your system is well protected from general
internet traffic.
If you are creating a local web service I would be interested in your

most mentions of this package indicate its use as the base of wordppess
running on a Mac.
If you are creating a local web service I would be interested in your
successes and challanges.

Hi All!
Could you tell me how to create a cron job on Mac to run a PHP script using
MAMP?
Thanks in advance.

Re: mac os big sur: how to get rid of the "insertion on word between a and b" information

2021-06-21 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi Yuma,

Have you set the verbosity to Low? As well, expand the Additional Options
thing and set things like “Text” to low as well. Not sure if it will do the
job for you but could make a difference. I’ve heard that sort of thing in text
fields, but don’t recall hearing it on the web. Could be that I just haven’t
been paying attention, or not using it in the method which you’re having to
work.

Later…
