Getting photos described

2020-02-20 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello,
Many thanks for the suggestion of using the Seeing Eye App as a way to analyse
photographs on my iPhone. I am impressed with the results!
If there is just 1 face in a photo is it possible to name that person so that
they can be identified in other photos??Many thanks … Paul Hopewell

Re: Getting photos described

2020-02-20 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Great idea, but I couldn’t find a way to do that. After a picture is analyzed
there is a “explore “ button near the bottom of the screen. If you press this,
then Seeing AI will divide the picture up into objects. This would be an ideal
place to have an action to identify a person.
I do believe that the photos app itself can identify people.

Yes, I thought that was the point. If you mute VoiceOver the speech will die.
Then you repeat the gesture to get the speech back.

fast forwarding audio tracks

2020-02-20 Thread Patrick Ford
Hi,
With OS 15 Catalina, I am in the LCD section of iTunes, and after entering the
the area where the time is displayed in percentages, I use VO right arrow to
fast forward. But often another track begins. Is there another way of ff with
an audio track?
Thanks.

toggling

2020-02-20 Thread Patrick Ford
Hi, again,
In toggling between two programs, for instance, text edit and music, I use tab
plus command.
But often when toggling from one or the other, I am brought to the finder or
desktop. So I go to the doc to return to the program in question.
Am I doing this correctly with tab and command?
Thanks.

Hi,

Use cmd-option-right or left to move in smaller increments. Plain right and
left arrow go to next/previous song.

If the text isn’t editable, Option-Left/Right-Arrow won’t work, but you can
still interact with the text (VO-Shift-Down-Arrow), and use VO-Left/Right-Arrow
to read word by word at that point. I’ve done this in Safari, for example.

Re: Getting photos described

2020-02-20 Thread PRAMIT BHARGAVA
Hi Paul,

You can use Seeing AI to identify a person also. You'll have to initially
identify the person before the Seeing AI app will recognize the person
independently. To add a person, select the Menu button in the top left
corner then select Face Recognition. This screen will display the people
that you have already identified. To identify a new person, select the Add
button. Initially the reverse camera will turn on and the app will ask you
to take three pictures of the person you would like to identify. Either
have the person hold the iPhone (as the reverse camera is activated) or use
the Switch to Back Camera button to take a picture of a person in front of
you.

After doing the above when you'll use the Person feature, the app will
announce the name of the person along with the gender, age, hair color or
characteristic of the person and emotion of the person. Also while taking a
picture, the app provides directional guidance you so that you can center
the people in the picture.

Hope this helps

Pramit

Ringer and alerts volume on the iPhone

2020-02-20 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
Hi all,
I have change with buttons turned off for my ringer and alerts volume on my
iPhone turned off but the volume still seems to be getting turned down as I
adjust the volume of my audio book or music when I have my bluetooth speaker
attached. I thought having the change with buttons turned off should leave the
volume of the ringer and alerts alone?

Re: toggling

2020-02-20 Thread 'Andrew Lamanche' via MacVisionaries
Let’s say you have 3 applications open. If you start from one of them, and
press command+tab do not release command button until you hear the name of the
application you want to move backwards and forwards from. Only then release
the command button. In this way, next time you execute command+tab you will
move directly to the 2nd desired application without going through the other
open windows. I hope it makes sense.

Re: resetting password

2020-02-20 Thread 'Andrew Lamanche' via MacVisionaries
Hi Wayne,

When powering your machine back on, hold down command+r for a couple of minutes
to be certain you are going to boot into recovery mode. Then release the keys
and wait. You won’t have speech automatically here so what I usually do while
waiting is to try and activate voiceover with command+f5. If voiceover comes
on, it means I’m in the recovery mode. There you will find a table with
options. I think the last option in the table is disk utility. Position
voiceover cursor on it and continue. Once in disk utility you should be able
to find terminal in disk utility menu with the usual vo+m key combination.
Hope I can remember this right.

Good luck

How to stop voiceover from announcing dropbox notifications?

2020-02-20 Thread 'Andrew Lamanche' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

This is driving me spare! I’m uploading loads of stuff to dropbox, including
backing up my home folder. Voiceover keeps announcing file names being
uploaded or downloaded interrupting whatever I’m trying to read. This is crazy
because in Notification I have turned all notifications to dropbox to “none”.
Since it didn’t solve the problem, I went to dropbox preferences and snoozed
notifications for a day too. But Voiceover is still reading the notifications.
Is there a way of dealing with this?

Andrew

Re: best twitter apps

2020-02-20 Thread 'Shawn Krasniuk' via MacVisionaries
Hi Donna. I still use Night Owl on my Mac. Even though I'm not really happy
with them seeing as how they've removed Growl as a method for notifications.
Yeah, I know I'm a little old fashioned, but I really liked Growl over
notification center. Maybe if Apple made it so that notifications didn't
interrupt what Voiceover is reading to me, I'd like it more.

Shawn,

RE: Getting photos described

2020-02-20 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Seeing a I is able to recognise people.

Download it and give it a try,
If it doesn't work you can get rid of it.
