RE: Airpods

2020-01-20 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Anders,

I can only speak for the second gen and they are great sound and easy to use,

 As for how they look,

If you take a pair of wired apple earpods that you would get with a phone,
Then you cut the wire off the end of the ear pease then you have the wireless
airpods,

That's pretty much all there is to them,

The case is a great size and fits in my pocket without issue and keeps the
pods charged for days

Mind you currently I'm not using them during the day a lot.

Hey siri works pretty well most of the time,
And they are most importantly cheaper than the pods pro,

I've only had once an issue where the pod came out of my ear when I got hit buy
a swinging branch of a tree in a wind storm

I haven't seen or tried the pods pro,
So I can't comment on them but to save money the series 2 pods in my book meet
all requirements.

However to throw a wrench in your works,

I also have a pair of power beats pro earpods as well and although they are
slightly more costly than the series 2,

They are great and have play / stop next / previous and volume comtrols on the
earpods,

And each pod has a hook to keep them on / in your ears.

More of a noise cancellation ear insert but they aren't noise cancelling.

Larger packaging but still a great quality earpod

Hope that gives you something to work with.

I personally don't think the pros are worth the money when the power beats and
series 2 work great al ready ..

Good luck.

Hi folks!
I said to myself that i never gonna buy me a pair of AirPods but now i begin to
think about doing that.
So what i would like to to know if i buy them is if i should buy the 2nd gen or
the pro ones?
Noice canseling is not nessesary but are there differences in sound quality
from the 2nd gen and the pro?
I also would like to know how they look?
Do they look like the wired pods from apple or different?
Many more questions to come.

help with apple watch issue

2020-01-20 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Morning all,

I have a question re workouts on an apple watch Series 4,

I use my apple watch workout daily,
The main work out is the outdoor walk

What I'm finding is that what I see in the activity report which is kilojoules
 (movement), exercise (minutes moving),
And standing,

I've noticed over the passed few months that the exercise or movement time
recording doesn't meet with what the outdoor walk in this case workout report.

Tonight I walked for 35 minutes on the workout,
After walking 25 minutes to work this morning and again on my walk home so
approx. 1.5 hours of walking,

Yet my exercise activity app on the watch records only 16 minutes,

I want to know if anyone else has noticed such a thing and if so what they did?

Note this is an apple watch sport series 4,
Running Watch OS 6.1.1

And sincs to my iphone 11 pro max running the latest Ios version.
Not that it should matter but all are space grey.

Cheers for any information people might be able to assist with.

Cheers,

Simon F

RE: Airpods

2020-01-20 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hey Kawal,

Just to let you know,
I had a similar thing happen with my series 2 pods

So I did a search on amazon and found these silicon straps like a shoelace that
the pods sit in the end of
And mean that if the pods fall out of your ears they don't drop on the floor,

They stay around your neck so they are harder to lose.

Hope this helps.

I have both the original first generation AirPods, and the new AirPods Pro. The
AirPods Pro fit much more securely in my ear. also, the stem on the AirPods Pro
is significantly shorter. The case on the AirPods Pro is slightly larger than
on the earlier models, but I don't find that to be an issue.

The AirPods Pro may cost a bit more, but I believe they are the better choice.

Hello all,
Anyone know of an accessible IRC client for either macOS or iOS? I am taking a
python course and they set up an IRC channel for the class.

Thanks,

Re: IRC client for either macOS or iOS

2020-01-20 Thread 'Jason White' via MacVisionaries
Using the terminal with VoiceOver isn't as convenient as we would wish, but the
irssi IRC client can be installed and run from a shell prompt on the Mac.

If you have Homebrew, you can just install the irssi package and run it from
the shell.

There may be other accessible options, but at least this one is known to work.

On Mac, get TDSR , then get IRSSI from
Home-brew, and install IRSSI-sounds
. This will give you a pretty
accessible setup.

Accessible Stock Trading Platform

2020-01-20 Thread Ibraheem Fakir
Hey List,

Hope you’re well. Wondering if anyone has had any accessibility success with
stock trading platforms such as Think or Swim? Looking for an accessible
platform to conduct option trades. I’ve downloaded the Think or Swim app on my
IOS device but find that not all the buttons are labeled. Wondering if the
desktop platform is any different.

Thanks!
Ibraheem

Thinkorswim is not very accessible. It’s worse on the desktop actually, not
accessible at all.

Robinhood is a great app for trading options. That’s what I started using.
Everything is labeled and it is extremely accessible.

Re: Accessible Stock Trading Platform

2020-01-20 Thread Brandon Olivares
There’s no desktop application, but there’s a web app. That works pretty well
but I find the IOS version is more accessible.

It’s pretty fast though once you get used to using it. Also I like it because
it helps you create multi-leg option contracts like call debit spreads, etc.

2020-01-20 Thread Greg Wocher
Hello,
Well I got colloquy for my iPhone. I did get connected to the server for my
class. However how do I see the messages? I can type a message and send it but
I do not see any kind of message list to see what I sent or what others sent.
Any help is appreciated.

Re: help with apple watch issue

2020-01-20 Thread Gabe Griffith
Hi Simon,

I have noticed this same thing where the exercise minutes don't match the time
you've actually been exercising. It happens mainly with the outdoor walk as you
found. My theory on this is that if you don't walk fast enough to get your
heart rate up to a certain level the watch doesn't record that as exercise
minutes regardless of you activating the workout.

I hope this helps.
