Re: excessive Battery usage on iPhone 8

2019-11-02 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi!
I don’t use the gps and therefore has turned off tracking location.
This drags a lot of battery.
Also turn off cellular data when you don’t use that.
Also turn off bluetooth should also be turned off.

Re: Mac machines speaking after 10 minutes of activity

2019-11-02 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi!
So you don’t even make the screen go to sleep.
If you do this could actually cause the screensaver to kick in.
I also have this issue but haven’t really cared about it.
BUt now when you wrote about it i am also curious to see what could cause the
problem.
BUt i think the screensaver is the culprit.

Re: Mac machines speaking after 10 minutes of activity

2019-11-02 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

It is a security thing. If you had your iMac set to require a password after
sleep or screen saver, or if your Mac was set to require a password after a
certain time of inactivity, this would be announced but also require your
password to unlock. This sort of setting is, for security reasons, the
preferred configuration, but if you've not set your Mac to require the
password, then the announcement still is made but a simple press of any key
makes it ready to use.

Re: Excel Question

2019-11-02 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

In Numbers, you can have multiple Sheets each having multiple tables. Use the
Sheet navigator to move between the various sheets and, if the tables aren't
properly labelled, you'll need to interact with each table to determine if it's
the right table. I'm not aware of any keyboard shortcuts for this, although
I'll admit that I haven't actually taken the time to look for any at this point.

Safari busy way too often, tired of Apple's quality control issues

2019-11-02 Thread Eric Brinkman
Hi all,

I am hearing "Safari busy" way too often on my Mac. I just visited
allmusic.com and tried to look up an artist and read the bio and some
album reviews. When I first accessed the site, VO would say "Safari
busy" but would work eventually. Then when I got to the artist's
actual page, it just got stuck on busy. This is happening far too
often and I am winding up using Windows in Fusion, which has its own
issues. It drains the battery more quickly and just isn't as
responsive. With all of the other issues in Catalina and IOS 13, I am
considering just buying a PC. Apple's quality control is just not
there anymore. Are other people experiencing "Safari busy"
frequently? Have you found a solution?

Thanks in advance,

Eric

I understand your frustration. I have similar problems on a website that has a
lot of material and possibly graphics/pictures. I’m also now irritated about
certain bugs which Apple has failed to fix although I’ve been reporting them
for over 4 years. Getting a Pc has also crossed my mind. But I have no
solution sadly.

Uninstalling Adobe Flash Player

2019-11-02 Thread Craig Werner
Greetings, everyone.

I am attempting to uninstall Adobe Flash Player on a MacBook Air
running os 10.14.6. I open the Utilities folder under Applications
and then open the Adobe Flash Player Uninstall Manager; but when I try
to install the necessary helper file, VoiceOver goes busy, and I am
unable to complete the uninstall process. I could download Clean My
Mac and uninstall the software via that tool, but I'd rather not do
so.

Thank you for all help.

Craig

Re: Safari busy way too often, tired of Apple's quality control issues

2019-11-02 Thread Lorie McCloud
I have this problem too. sometimes it just quits talking and makes this buzzing
sound as if it's completely overloaded. I'm not running catalina yet. a work
around I have found is to turn vo off, wait for a few seconds and turn it back
on again. sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't.

Re: Safari busy way too often, tired of Apple's quality control issues

2019-11-02 Thread Eric Brinkman
If I can't reliably use the machine to browse the web, then it's not
going to suit my needs. These issues do not occur with Jaws or, to my
knowledge, with NVDA. Apple has shifted most of its development away
from the Mac, and, ever since the iPhone 5 Maps debacle, they have
just been rushing out products that aren't ready for prime time. It's
a shame, because I do still like VO on the iPhone. I'm very tempted
to sell my MacBook Pro.

Hi Lorie,
Try going to Safari preferences and reduce the number of "top sites shows" to 6
This seemed to clear up that busy thing after I installed Mojave on my MBA.
It sounds a bit strange but It worked for me!

Re: Mac machines speaking after 10 minutes of activity

2019-11-02 Thread 'Shawn Krasniuk' via MacVisionaries
Yeah but your screen goes to sleep still. Even though you have the hard drive
set to not go to sleep, the screen still goes to sleep. You could make it so
that it doesn't, but I would think that if you did that it would damage it
overtime unless you set the brightness to 0.
