PDF files with annotations & Voiceover

2018-08-18 Thread 'Andrew Lamanche' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

This is a bit of an SOS message. I’ve just received a pdf file from my tutor
outlining the comments on my latest essay. I can’t read any comments in
Preview. All I get is “image image image” as I vo+down arrow through the text
of the original submission. Is there a way of reading somebody else’s
annotation in a PDF file? Accessibility sometimes feels like an ongoing
nightmare. One thing becomes available only to be replaced by another.

In desperation

they demonstrated their smart refridgerator to one of our meetings. I

Re: Accessibility problems on the Libby app

2018-08-18 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Mark,
Well, I did just now try overdrive. Unfortunately, you cannot activate the edit
box into which you are supposed to type your library card number after you
found your library. You also can’t activate the other box into which you are
supposed to type your pin number or password. So I don’t understand how they
can say this is more accessible than the other app. Seems to me they’re both
duds.

2018-08-18 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hang on,

 A smart refrigerator?

 Really?

Does it open the beer bottle before it hands it to you?

Will it know when to thor out my frozen chicken before I go to cook it?

And the really important question, will it know if I put a bottle of red wine
in the fridge that it should only be kept at room temp?

If it can't do those things then its not smart enough for me.

Hi, Sarai:

I have no personal experience. However, I have been on LG's Accessibility
Acvisory Committee for quite a few years, and I can report they demonstrated
their smart refridgerator to one of our meetings. I haven, however, not
personally tried to use the app.

Good day,
I have just logged into my library system using OverDrive successfully.
Make sure that you have the latest version of OverDrive, and try again if you
will, And let me know how you come along with that. I can help off list if you
need, just let me know.

2018-08-18 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Daniel,
I have when I take to be the latest version of overdrive, since I just
downloaded it yesterday. I already have an account through Libby with my
library is in my library card. So, I attempted to login with that account,
which requires the library card and the pin. Neither edit field would become
active with voiceover in abled. Are you saying that you can successfully create
a login using your library card number and pin with voiceover active? That’s
very interesting. I’m using an iPhone 7 Plus with the latest version of iOS,
not the beta.

Re: Accessibility problems on the Libby app

2018-08-18 Thread Daniel Chavez
Hi there,
Interesting that you have such an issue with OverDrive, I'm wondering whether
or not Overdrive is more for an iPhone 8 or above, and that it doesn't work too
well with your 7 plus and iOS 11?
Knowing your issue in detail, I can't really say I can be of much help, but
maybe some other list member's can? It's just odd that you are having so many
issue's with the OverDrive application.
If it is Libby that you are talking about, however, then Libby is known to have
major issues. I could never get Libby to work for me.
I hope there is a solution to your issue soon. My apologies I couldn't be of
more help with your issue.

RE: Accessibility problems on the Libby app

2018-08-18 Thread M. Taylor
Hello,

Mary, the library card and PIN number fields are completely accessible via
VoiceOver.

Have you attempted to find these fields using the explore by touch, method?

Just so you know, after receiving your post, I signed out of one of my
libraries, turned on the screen curtain, so I could not use any vision
whatsoever, and was able to successfully enter both my library card and PIN
number in the app, using the explore by touch, method. I performed this on
both my 6 Plus and 8 Plus; both with the latest release of iOS.

Hi Mary .Hi Mary, another Daniel here.

I too had major issues with the libby app with audiobooks so I switched to
overdrive. In my case, I was lucky enough that I was able to find my
library in the overdrive app.

While overdrive isn't perfect, its better and certainly more usable
than libby . Its a shane , because libby could have so muchPotential,
if VO and accessibility was implemented more into the app.

Apparent E-Mail Corruption

2018-08-18 Thread 'Bill Gallik' via MacVisionaries
I have a couple of questions concerning what appears to be e-mail corruption.

What is happening is that a subject line may read something that I find quite
interesting, but when I hit the key to read the message is completely
unrelated to the corresponding subject line. As if that isn’t bad enough, the
resulting message appears to be raw HTML coding. My questions are:

1) Is anyone else experiencing this?

2) Can anyone explain what is causing this and, possibly, how to eliminate it?

Help working with spreadsheets in Numbers?

2018-08-18 Thread Phantom.Vader
Hi!

Desperately need some help with Numbers. I feel kind of daft asking
this, though, because it seems like it should be obvious! But
apparently not. Anyway, I'm trying to copy data from one spreadsheet
to another. But, although Numbers/VO seem perfectly happy to let me
select a row, I can't for the life of me get it to select a single
column so I can copy the data into the corresponding column in the new
sheet! I've tried every keystroke I can think of, but none of them
will simply select the next cell down the column without selecting the
entire row as well. So can anyone tell me if/how I do that? Thanks!
If there's a way, it'd be an enormous help! Because, otherwise, I'm
going to have to do a lot of laborious typing that's going to hurt the
hell out of my main typing and navigating hand and shoulder!

Anyhow, thanks. And really hope to hear from some one soon!

Re: Accessibility problems on the Libby app

2018-08-18 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Mark,
Well, yes, I did trying to explore by touch to get to the fields. They weren’t
on the Visible screen that is visible to me with voiceover. I could flick to
them, but when I tried to move to them by doing a three finger flick up to
advance the screen, it didn’t work. Similarly, three finger flick left didn’t
advance the screen. I didn’t think it would. I expected three finger flick up
to move the screen to where I could explore by touch to get to the relevant
field. No luck.
