Jumping to the top of inbox in Mail

2017-08-25 Thread Nickus de Vos
Hi all
I’m looking for a shortcut or quick way to jump to the top email in the list in
Mail on the Mac. For some reason from time to time focus jumps to the bottom of
the list and I have like 900 emails in there. I tried VO page up and VO home,
but it doesn’t seam to work so I have to arrow all the way up.

Any ideas?

2017-08-25 Thread Scott Granados

It’s interesting how in bed with Sprint the Carters are now. Tidal did a huge
deal with Sprint putting many dollars in his pocket and now there’s the ticket
offering. I wonder how that came to be. T-mobile you think of as being more
the company for younger folks but there you are.
I have to say I’m not a huge fan of 444 although it’s not bad I’m more
of a Blueprint or Black album man myself. The American gangster soundtrack was
also very good, not to mention a great movie but then again, anything Denzel
Washington stars in is a great movie.
Ok, now you’ve done it Mark, it’s super quiet and still in my office, I think
it’s time for a little JZ maybe Big Pimpin to spice up the vibe around here.:)

Re: TunnelBear Completes Industry-First Consumer VPN Public Security Audit

2017-08-25 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Interesting, but there is a lot of marketing for both the Security Audit
team and the VPN provider in the report. I would expect most reputable VPN
providers (not free) would be doing equivalent audits though apparently
Tunnel Bear is the first to put out publicity on its work.

This is the second time I have heard of Tunnel Bear and both times were
this week. The first was on a podcast. They do have the feature of
tunneling your data to a IP address in another country. I wonder if content
providers do any blacklisting of VPN providers address space.
  I listen to.

I would love to have been listening to the conversation when it was
announced that Security Bear user database had not been properly secured on
a internal machine.

Re: TunnelBear Completes Industry-First Consumer VPN Public Security Audit

2017-08-25 Thread Scott Granados
One of the reasons I like to roll my own (open VPN that is) is you can host in
datacenter that aren’t blacklisted by the content providers.

You can also set your cryptographic settings and keys to the strength you want.
Of course you need to know how to Harden the server itself but that’s very
doable.

Re: Zendesk accessibility with Voiceover

2017-08-25 Thread Erik Burggraaf

Hi Jonathan,

I have thought on your situation. I think you need to first document the
issue for yourself, including technical steps you took to solve the issue
and time spent both on task, and working on solutions so that your company
can see the scope of the problem. Then you want to use your own chain of
command. IE, first show your document to your manager, and ask them to
take it to the next level, keeping you in the loop as the process takes shape.

a
It may seem that you have an H r issue, but actually, you may have an IT or
procurement issue. Your manager is the person to get your document into
the right hands internally. If your manager failed to support you in your
attempt to get the issue resolved, that would for sure be an HR issue.

In your document, you would probably be asking for one of two resolutions.
First, have IT interface with the developer of the time sheet software to
get the bug fixed at the software level.
Second, if that fails, procure and deploy a new time tracking software
after testing to make sure that new software meets all the company's needs
including diversity.

If your company is a good customer, they shouldn't need to threaten to get
things done. Apparently zendesk was created a situation where they were
ignoring accessibility issues and refusing to co-operate.

If you are very lucky, the software you use is developed directly by your
company. In that case, they can do everything internally and you can
participate in the solution. Clearly you have the expertese required to do
that.

Above all, be positive and proactive. Include your chain of command. Be
thurough, and give the company every possible opportunity to help you if
they will. If not, be sure to document that too and fall on them from a
great height if you have to, but this issue doesn't sound like something
you should have to put your job in jepperdy for. Legal action or threat of
action must be the ultimate last resourt here.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help, though it sounds
like you have a good grasp of the situation.

Best,

Erik

I think the best way to handle this is to have the employer write a letter.
The letter should come from the company's legal department and include
human resource contacts. The letter should introduce the blind employee in
general terms and explain the hiring laws in the jurisdiction where the
company operates. Then it should explain that the the employee would take

Then it should explain that if the company were found liable for loss and

forced to take legal action against zendesk to recover their losses. As a
remedy, the letter should suggest that all three parties work together to
address the accessibility of zendesk and thereby inprove accessibility in

more when accessibility is proposed by corporate account holders than it
does when one end user tries to make noise on their own.

crazy weather in Florida and hurricanes in New England so I know about the ride
you’re in for. Don’t forget to stock up on beer and pop tarts so you have
something to trade.;). (that’s a serious suggestion, that was standard
procedure in our part of Florida). Keep your heads down and keep the powder

RE: Sprint is offering new and existing customers a free ticket to Jay-Z's 4:44 Tour

2017-08-25 Thread Simon Fogarty
I don't understand you folks,

Some one on the street could offer me tickets to this guy and I'd say NO!

Now if someone like Vodafone NZ offered me tickets and the tools to go back in
time and see queen live at Wembley stadium in 86 then I'd be kissing that
company

Or even the orgional pink Floyd the wall concert.

Reall music for me none of this digital hip hop bull!

2017-08-25 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Scott and anyone else with thoughts on this.

I'm looking for a VPN service either existing that I can use to connect from my
mac book air or iPad / iPhone to my home systems which consist of a couple of
mac minis and windows servers 2012R2 and others.

I just want something to connect from the remote device to the home end and
then rdp into what I need at the time to access.
I'm not sure free is the best option but thoughts greatfully appreciated.

Virgin Mobile extends 'all you can eat for one year for $1' deal to
switchers

Virgin Mobile really loves iPhone users . After going iPhone-only back
in June, and offering a really sweet deal to those buying a new phone,
it has now extended the offer to existing iPhone owners switching to the
carrier.
The carrier says that any iPhone owner who ports their number to
Virgin will be able to get the same 'all you can eat' $1 deal for a full 12
months .

When you bring your existing iPhone and transfer your phone number to
the "Inner Circle" plan, you will enjoy 12 months of unlimited talk,
text and high-speed data for just $1 on Virgin Mobile's nationwide network.
After the first year, you'll be switched to the company's standard
'unlimited everything' plan, which costs $50 per month. The deal
needn't end there, though: you'll get an additional six months of
service for $1 if you upgrade to a new iPhone.
As we noted before, the usual carrier caveats apply: your data usage
may be 'deprioritized' if you go over 23GB a month, and terminated
altogether if you do a lot of roaming. To qualify, you'll need an
iPhone 5s or later, and the offer is subject to confirmation of compatibility
with Virgin's network.
Virgin says that the deal is open for a short time, but doesn't
specify a cutoff date.
"At Virgin Mobile, we don't like playing by the rules, even our own,"
said Dow Draper, CEO of Virgin Mobile USA. "Consumers know that the
Inner Circle is the real deal, but many love their current phones or
don't want to upgrade yet. So, now for a short period of time, you can
bring your own iPhone to Virgin Mobile and enjoy everything the Inner
Circle offers - including the savings - $1 for 12 months of service.
It's also a great way to try out the Virgin Mobile network with your own
iPhone."
It does say that there will be a $25 charge for the SIM from September 29.

The ponly reason I knew it was changing bands was that my printer is not

Re: vpn services

2017-08-25 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi Simon,

Yes, it's simply a tunnel so as long as you enter the proper credentials, it
shouldn't matter whether you're dealing with Mac or Windows.

Yes, I'm out of the fire zone this year. Nothing left to burn around us :).
There have been some smaller fires within 70 to 80 kilometres but not really
any big concerns to many of us. The worst of it all is in British Columbia,
just on the other side of the Rockies from us. My Dad lives close to a rather
aggressive one that ignited a couple of days ago, but so far he's not worried.
Lots of smoke and often difficult to see particularly far, and rough for folks
with respiratory ailments.

Let me know if you have any issues trying to set things up.

Twilio Console question re: phone number selection

2017-08-25 Thread Michael Babcock
Hi all:
Working on a few projects that require me to use Twilio…
OK, so the fact that Twilio integrates with Zapier and the new IP PBX system I
just built may have a little to do with my needing to go with them.
And I love there number selection two…
😜
Hears the problem I run into though

When I select a phone number from a search page, e.g.

https://www.twilio.com/console/phone-numbers/search/buy/results?Country=US&searchType=number&searchTerm=tt&align=right&capability%5B%5D=any&type%5B%5D=any&requirement%5B%5D=any&beta%5B%5D=true

(You may need an account to see the above page).
I select a number that I want in the table, and to the far right of it is
a"buy" link.

When I select this link, voiceover doesn't appear to do anything, however I
noticed that there's a confirmation dialog box voiceover seas towards the
bottom of the page.

Most of the time, when I inquire dialogs like these, I can interact with them
and then select the desired auction.

However using Safari or chrome, I can't seem to access the option to allow me
to buy the phone number.

My next step is to contact their support team, but I was curious if anyone had
encountered something like this and if they have any suggestions I might try?

Hoping all are doing well.
best.
michael
PS, or do you know of a Sip based provider that will allow me to both send and
receive SMS messages?
