How to prefer IPv6 on the Mac OS X Sierra?

2017-04-27 Thread Scott Granados
Hi, so I’ve been reading that IPv6 connections should be preferred under OS X
Sierra but it doesn’t appear that’s happening. If I test my IPv6 connection I
get a valid IPv4 and IPV6 address, It shows I’m using a 6 to 4 tunnel, ping6
and a manual nslookup show a valid record returned when I test. I do get
an error during IPv6 testing that my dos (possibly ISP) dos server does not
have access to the IPv6 network and that may prevent access in the future.
When I use any tools like ssh or safari it shows me using IPv4. It
seems like I have things working end to end but IPv4 is still preferred. Any
ideas as to what I’m doing wrong?

Thanks
Scott

Re: How to prefer IPv6 on the Mac OS X Sierra?

2017-04-27 Thread Daniel Chavez
Good day,
As I'm a System Admin, I, too, prefer IPV6.
However, IPV6 depends on the ISP and the IP pool being pulled from.
Most ISP's still use IPV4 for backwards compatibility for older devices, though
most modem'/router combo's employe both IPV4 and IPV6 support, but this IPV6
support usually is disabled until the ISP fully supports it.
So it's possible that what you may have done is correct, but it's an ISP
problem.

Well I have end to end ping by IP resolution so I can for example ping the IPV6
addresses at google. SO routing is working. I have a 6 to 4 tunnel up with
Hurricane Electric and it appears that Things are good other than the protocol
selection. It could be DNS related I suppose but I can resolve records
internal so I’m not sure what’s wrong yet.

Yes, first look at DNS. Perhaps use Googles DNS servers. I highly distrust
default DHCP servers provided by Home use Internet service providers. I
have seen significant issues with them resolving things incorrectly to try
to make you send your traffic in places it shouldn't go.

Ok, so I put 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 in place. Still behaving the same. I may try
to delete the servers (my router and another IPV6 address) from the local
resolver. I can resolve the v6 names though which is odd, that seems to work
fine.
I can also ping them using ping6.

Try specifying Google's IPv6 resolvers:

I think I got it although I’m not quite sure why.;). I think part of my issue
is I’m working with a 6 to 4 tunnel in stead of a 6 in 4 tunnel which uses the
assigned public routable blocks from HE. This gives me some sort of 2002
address but does seem to be routable, I trace routed and it went back to
Hurricane Electric. IT just seems to be some sort of global pool. I need to
learn more about 6 to 4 I think.

Right now, if I go to whatismyip.com though, I get my
IP in IPv6 form, so that’s something right?

Hi fellow listers, moderators, and owners. Hope you are all doing ok.
Unfortunately I have no choice, I have to unsubscribe from all the email
groups I belong to. I haven't been able to check email and be online for a
long time and it seems I will be out of things for much longer. When I
turned on my laptop this morning I had over fifteen thousand emails waiting
for me. Given my situation I just can't keep up anymore. I pray that one day
I recover and are able to join my favourite groups again. My family is
against me telling people what's wrong but I feel in writing this email I'm
also helping myself to come to grips with my illness. I will remain
subscribed a few more days so that I may read your thoughts in hopes that
your words might help me to continue to fight this awful illness.
Again I'm sorry for the off topic post and I hope the moderators can find it
in their hearts to forgive me, and if one day I recover I hope they will
remember me and let me back in to my favourite mailing groups.
Before I tell you all my story, I would like to thank each and every one of
you for either your help on various topics, or your individual private help
through the phone or private email, or your messages of getting to know me,
or your words of encouragement when it came to the mac, jaws, NVDA, windows
10, household tips, cooking instructions, prayers, and harmless chit chat.
If I offended anyone in anyway, or gave anyone a hard time please forgive
me.
Here's my unbelievable story.
Last August I was doing a lot of gardening mostly weeding to be honest. I
was on my hands and knees from morning to night pulling weeds and keeping my
property clean. I am grateful to the good Lord for blessing me to have such
a lovely property but it's old and no one ever took care of the garden. The
result is weeds on top of my weeds. Chemicals are forbidden here in Canada,
and I haven't been able to find an affordable solution, so I'm left with
fighting weeds on a daily bases. I am a sun lover and adore summer, last
summer was the first time in my life that I couldn't wait for summer to be
over. I was exhausted and I have nothing to remember for my 2016 summer
except pulling weeds all most every day for the whole entire spring, summer,
and fall.
In August I noticed 2 mosquito bites on my elbow and 2 on my inner left
thigh. The bites were very itchy just like normal mosquito bites, so I
didn't think anything of it. I also noticed my nails were black underneath.
I thought it was dirt from the garden, to spite that I was showering every
single day and cleaning my nails, the next morning they would be filthy
again. Again I thought it strange but I justified it in my head as to much
gardening. In August my husband and I visited a few local restaurants and
spent two nights in a motel in north Ontario for a weekend away.
I wanted to try my hand at building a small business doing something I love
so I decided to start making my own bracelets and selling them online. I
have always loved costume jewellery and to spite my vision problems, I have
been taught that there is nothing I can't do. My mother always said "try and
if you fail, oh well, life goes on. Try different things until you find
something you are good at and you love doing." So I talked to my mom and
husband and they both backed me as they always do. My mother who adores me
spent over six thousand dollars to buy my supplies, and encouraged me on a
daily bases. My husband turned half of my computer room into a work space
with special lighting, magnifying contraptions, shelving, etc. My husband
and mom bought me bins with dividers and I spent months sorting beads and
other supplies by color, size, and type. I got help from someone on one of
these mailing lists and he helped me to create labels to label all these
bins. Everything was going great, or so I thought.
I spent hours teaching myself how to make these beautiful bracelets, I
finally got the hang of it after much trial and error and I was ready to go.
I registered on etsy.com and opened up a Facebook small business page. I
bought more supplies to host a launching party with food, drinks, and gifts
for my guests to introduce them to my creations and my new business. While
all this was happening, I noticed in October that the mosquito bites were
not going away. They had become scabby and even more itchier.
I showed my mom and she justified it just like I had done in my mind. Due to
my type two diabetes they were taking a long time to heal as many things do
when you have diabetes.
At the beginning of November as some of you already know, I started to have
problems with my right eye. Long story short for those who don't know, I
suffer from a cornea disease. My cornea was trying to break. This had
happened before but this time it was persistent and my doctor had to try
different medications to stop the cornea from breaking. While I was battling
this cornea problem I noticed my right arm becoming very itchy and the two
mosquito bites

Re: How to prefer IPv6 on the Mac OS X Sierra?

2017-04-27 Thread 'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries
Scott:

You should definitely be routable in a Tunnel Broker 6to4. I used one
for years before I finally got native 6. The only times it broke for me
occured when I lost my underlying, ISP delegated 4 address and had to
re-register the tunnel end point.

You should be able to do anything you want, e.g. ssh into your machine.

Re: How to prefer IPv6 on the Mac OS X Sierra?

2017-04-27 Thread Scott Granados
That’s what it seems, the interesting problem is getting my applications to use
V6.

I’ve seen it work a little but not consistently. I’m thinking Netgear’s
implementation may have issues but I’ll keep noodling around with it. I’m able
to pass data over the link just name resolution seems odd and the order of
things IE V4 being selected instead of V6.

Donna, before I would do anything radical like that, I'm wondering if you

plug it back in. I've had difficulty with one of my speakers on occasion
losing its connection, and that's what I've done. I have been speaking
with Sonos about this and we are trying to nail down what the issue might
be. They want me to call them when I actually lose sound because they can
perform diagnostics on there and to check out what might be going on.

2017-04-27 Thread Sarai Bucciarelli
Hi guys:
We just got Lyft. A friend sent me Lyft credits or free ride, something like
that. Everytime I open the App, I do not see a car around. How do you use the
App? Can you pick a car, and have someone follow your trip like you can with
Uber? Any general tips I need to know about? Can you tell how far away the car
is? How do you add extra stops so if I wanted to stop for food on the way home?

Homeopath medicine is a scam, be very careful. The principle so they claim is
they take some sort of theoretical toxin or something you’re allergic to etc
and dilute it by millions of times in water. The water is supposed to contain
some essence / energy of the agent they added. This is bunk. It’s diluted so
far past the point of even being measurable. It’s right up there with snake
oil.
The only thing that I’ve heard of that works for this are very high end
antibiotics similar to that used to treat anthrax or other critical infections.

Here’s an article that explains just how much of a scam Homeopathy is.

https://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/homeo.html

Be very very careful, don’t spend your money on this, it’s not going to help.

Now there is a similar condition that some suspect is a real illness. Keep in
mind up front many authorities feel it is a psychological issue but there are a
group who are starting to think tire’s more to it. Read more here.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2096439/Morgellons-IS-real-Thousands-claim-suffer-agonising-skin-condition-doctors-claim-psychological.html

The diagnosis sounded similar to what your doctor mentioned and what you might
try and do is contact some of the doctors mentioned in the article who don’t
believe it’s a mental condition but a real illness.

Another option is it’s something that a Steroid could help with. There are
conditions that mimic what you are saying and are addressed with steroid cream.
If you get a good steroid cream it will be bound with a terrific moisturizer
that may also help you.
Keep in mind what you think may be bugs might not be. They might be as
well but you shouldn’t need anything as extreme as the dangerous oils and
chemicals your using. Something as simple as salt baths should help. To bad
you’re not on the coast swimming in the ocean does wonders for the skin. I
really think if possible you should find another doctor maybe one more open
mentioned in the article. It also could be psychological and resulting from
the drama you underwent and are undergoing which may have has a physical start
and just grown out of that. Don’t rule that out. Save your money though on
the home remedies and especially the homeopathy and channel that in to
reputable options. There are doctors who will be more sympathetic. Might be
worth a trip to the University of San Francisco for example mentioned as an
option.

Be careful, I’m definitely pulling for you and get your self a better doctor,
start researching there and I think you’ll find a solution that really works.

Good luck and stay strong

Zoe,
You know something? I am already joyously anticipating your return. I am
already appreciating the amazing story you will share of your recovery,
and
of all the things you teach those participating in your healing.
I say this because, as hard as it may be to imagine right now, the God you
serve never abandons you, leaves you alone, or forsakes you. In truth
you need not ask for mercy because grace unconditional love healing and
infinite mercy are yours just because you exist.
No soul with such perseverance passion to keep living, and willingness to
still choose faith at all can anticipate anything less than divine
transformation.

I can write this yes? but it is not my body.
I can and do hold you in the light and love of the God you serve, because
I know no more creative healer can be found.
Still the faith must come from you. No matter how small, appreciate
anything at all. No matter how tiny give thanks the best you can.
Speaking for myself the vibration of struggle will only fortify the
struggle. I believe you can because You write strongly of your faith,
fine thing is it not that a
tiny mustard seed is all you need?
homeopathy is a terrific field, naturalpathic medicine too, both of which are
regulated branches of medicine in Ontario as you know.
Trust that since the God you serve never leaves you, that salvation can
come to you from ways that are infinite in their possibilities.
If you can, as you can, bless where you are, with the loving support of
your husband, and a bunch of strangers reading of your bravery in this
situation who are pulling for you!
