Hello Larry,

I don’t use Word but this doesn’t happen to me in Pages. Is your mouse
following your other cursors? If so, try changing it to Ignore the other
cursors.

Cheers,

Re: How to check to see if Flash is turned on?

2016-07-28 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi Donna,

In Safari, go to Preferences, then choose security tab and then find the
checkbox "enable plugins". Having insured it is checked, immediately to the
right of it is "plugins settings" button. Press it and you will be in a new
window. Examine it as there are various functions there. One of the functions
is to enable plugins for all or for a a particular web page. So you can either
have flash enabled for all pages or have it disabled but you can then enable
flash for individual page. In the latter case, you first go to the page on
which you wish flash to be active, and only then do you go to
preferences/security/plugins settings. The table to the very left will give
you status of flash for a particular page you are on.

Hope this will help a little.

all this does is prevent users from openly talking about possible problems and

Hi Andrew,

This is helpful, thank you. I actually got the content to play last night,
turned out I needed to use a mouse click rather than space or enter to start
the video. But it's still good to know how to turn plug-ins on and off.
Cheers,

I can’t figure out how to set my phone so that music in the cloud won’t show up.
I want to be able to purchase music with my phone but I don’t want the icloud

Step by step instructions are appreciated.

Hi,

In settings, music on the iPhone, try logging out of your Apple ID. This should
stop the streaming music. If you have Apple Music or iTunes match, this may be
a problem though.

Re: Music and iPhone six.

2016-07-28 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Yes, it should. Your Apple ID should still be signed in in the iTunes &
Appstore area of settings. What it should do is make it so that you either
download music directly to your iPhone, or use iTunes to purchase the music and
transfer it over via iTunes as well. That's what I'd expect to happen. Let me
know if something different occurs, and I'll dig deeper.

Still get reminders from deleted instances of a repeated event in IOS calender

2016-07-28 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello,
I am running the latest IOS on my iPhone 5S. I have several repeated events in
my calendar. As it is the holiday season I deleted specific instances of some
of these repeated events and as expected these instances no longer appear in my
calendar. However I still get reminder notifications of the deleted event
instances. Is this a bug?

Note that the calendar is in iCloud and is shared with my iMac.

Many thanks.

High pitched VoiceOver

2016-07-28 Thread Traci Duncan
Hi everybody,
I don’t know if I accidentally changed a setting, but this is driving me a
little crazy. I use Samantha compact for my Mac VoiceOver voice. Just
recently she is doing some weird high pitch letters and web locators. A few
examples, when I VO-shift-left and right arrow to read over letters in a word,
she is going high pitch while reading some of them. Not just the capitols.
When I am typing words, she is going high pitch on some words but most
punctuation.
I’ve been reading a lot on dog food advisor and there are parts on their site
where she goes high pitched. There are buttons for vote up or vote down. If
there is a number before these buttons, she goes high.

Anyway, any suggestions on if I’ve changed something, or could this be part of
an update?

Thank you,
Traci

Re: To Unified English Braille Readers

2016-07-28 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
Hi Mark.

Were you doing this on an I phone or Mac? I have never seen the bold font or
any other font come up on my Braille display. I’m not even sure how to do that
as I know how to do this using Duxbury but I’ve never done it on my Focus with
an I phone. So please enlighten me. I know how to do bold in Duxbury of
course but how do you do it on an I phone?

Thanks.

Re: To Unified English Braille Readers

2016-07-28 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
Hello Mark and others.

Someone stated on this list that no screen reader will indicate when there is a
typeform.

I would like to correct those on this list who are interested in this subject.

Jaws will tell you when there is a bold, italic and other attributes as it will
speak it especially if you get Jaws to announce them.

I am a Braille transcriber (as many of you know) and so I will tell you, if I
import a word document in to Duxbury, it will tell me if you are using the UEB
table that you have bold, italic and other types forms.

Without getting technical, at work I have a program which will output to
braille with all the typeforms preserved and hence in Duxbury you will get what
is represented in braille. I’d suggest that you need to right template in
Duxbury if you want all this represented.

I know this is a list for Mac and so on but I did want to correct that person
who said that a screenreader does not give you these attributes.

If however, you are using a Mac or I phone, you will not see this represented
in UEB braille and I’m not sure why. May be technical works needs to be done
so that the braille table for IOS and Mac to represent this.

Many thanks.

Re: MS Word jumps to the top

2016-07-28 Thread Larry Thacker Jr.
I was having some other issues and ended up restarting the Mac. It seems to
have stopped doing that now. I should probably be reporting to Microsoft
though, because there does seem to be an issue if one navigates up into the
header section of the document with VO. It gets busy, yet some commands still
can get through. I am able to save and eventually quit. All is fine when I
come back.
It’s good negative reinforcement I suppose to make me stop using the
JAWS/NVDA read line command when I mean to use the one for VO.

Thanks

Subject: High pitched VoiceOver

Anyway, any suggestions on if I’ve changed something, or could this be part of
an update?

Thank you,
Traci

Voice dream reader cutting out

2016-07-28 Thread Mary Otten
I am sending this to two lists, because I know there are some on the Mac list
who use I-devices and are not subscribed to the iPhone list. I have recently
noticed that voice dream reader will sometimes cut out when I am reading a book
from book share. I thought at first that there was a problem with my iPad mini,
which is usually where I do my reading. So I switched to my iPhone 6s, and
discovered that the problem was also happening there. I really can't find a
pattern, except that it seems to occur most often when I have moved around
within a book. But that is not always true. I have found this problem while
using the Kendra voice, which is when I have been using lately due to the type
of material I have been reading. So I don't know if it is just that voice or
something more. I never had a problem with that boys until recently. This
problem may be associated with the recent update to iOS 9. But that was such a
small update that that seems hard to believe. Anyway, I am curious if any other
voice dream users have noticed this issue where the voice while you were
reading just cuts out for a while and then comes back in a different place in
the book. It's like it started rewind or fast-forward a bit.
Mary

Re: To Unified English Braille Readers

2016-07-28 Thread Devin Prater
I know for a fact that NVDA shows typeforms in braille. That's one of the
amazing features it has over Voiceover. Now, if the Mac would just accept that
I want Linux on it... I'd be able to test BRLTTY, Orca and Liblouis there to
make sure typeforms are shown on Linux too. But the Mac drags its feet. If
anyone thinks Macs are just PC's with MacOS on them, nope. Ugh.

Making sure of accessibility before I buy a Mac Word processing app

2016-07-28 Thread Sharon Hooley
Hi,

Does anyone use Scribner on the mac? If so, do you still find it accessible
with VoiceOver OS 10 and above? I'm writing my autobiography, which will
definitely be a long document. Or is Pages better and more accessible?

Thanks,

Sharon H.
