Hi Simon. I’m not familiar with the iPhone client for Trillian but you need to
make a Trillian account before you can add any additional accounts.

Subject: getting trillian working on jabba chat server!

Hi List,

I’m trying to setup trillian to work with a chat server at work.

It’s a linux based server using a chat system using the jabba protocol.

So It’s got nothing to do with the Trillian chat services at all.

What I’ve got at the moment is the iPhone trillian client and I can’t figure
out how to connect to the chat server or change the port to what we have the
system set for

Is trillian able to run as a chat client for a non trillian service and if so
how?

Any assistance here would be appreciated.

I’m needing a client that will work on multiple platforms and be accessible to
me.

Thanks for any help if you can assist.

RE: A Question About Audio Descriptive Movies in iTunes

2016-02-25 Thread Simon Fogarty

Subject: A Question About Audio Descriptive Movies in iTunes

Hello All,

I am posting this question to both the V iPhone and Mac Visionaries mailing
list.

My primary question:
Is the audio description track included when renting a movie from iTunes? or
must one purchase the movie in order to receive the audio description track.

My secondary question:
If a movie debuted with an audio description track in the theater, does it
follow that the movie will include that track in the iTunes store version of
the movie?

Here's my situation:
Last summer I saw the movie entitled "Edge of Tomorrow", in the theater,
complete with audio description. To me, it was a fabulous movie. Just so you
know, the film is now marketed and sold under the title, "Live die Repeat".

A couple of days ago, a sighted friend of mine rented Live die Repeat, from the
iTunes Store. She watched it on her iPad. Even though many titles, in the
iTunes Store, are not listed as having audio description, I was hoping that,
like so many others, given that the film was released with audio description in
the theater, the track would be included on the download.

According to her, she could not hear any audio description despite having the
settings on her iPad configured correctly.

I should probably add that, to my dismay, I discovered that the DVD copy of
this title, I purchased when it was first made available, did not include the
audio description track, either.

I would so much like to enjoy this movie again but I fear, that, unless I can
locate a version that includes the audio description track, I will not be able
to relive the experience of "Edge of Tomorrow".

All replies most welcomed.

Mark

itunes librarys

2016-02-25 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi List,

I wish to know if it's possible to split up my itunes library to differnet
drives / locations.

Due to a large collection of music approx. 600gig of music,
Approx. 25 gig of audio books and 2 gigg of E-Books,plus other bits and peases.

What I'd like to do is split my media locations up so they are on their
respective drive locations

Is there a way to split up the media library so that audio books are on one
drive, music on another etc.
Is there anyway to do this or has anyone got suggestions that might make life
easier to keep things tidy

I have a mac mini with a 500GB drive that I wish to run my itunes library
mangagement from

What is a Secondary Click?

2016-02-25 Thread Sandy Finley
I was creating a couple of track pad commands. I selected the modifier key of
shift and found that "click mouse" is 'shift click." Shift click is followed
by the unassigned gesture of "shift secondary click."
When thinking in terms of gestures, I am guessing that "click" may be a
1-finger tap. What is "secondary click?"

Secondary click is equivalent to right clicking on a Mac. This could also be
done by keyboard by VO+Shift+M.

Re: A Question About Audio Descriptive Movies in iTunes

2016-02-25 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Just as a further to this, there is a way to check what’s available with audio
description in i tunes.

Go to the search bar and type “audio description” or “descriptive video”.
It’ll pull up everything with description, and you can then pick the movies
radio button to see only the movies with DVS.

Additionally, when you read the blurb about the movie, go down to the languages
section. If it has audio description, it’ll be listed there under languages as
simply AD.

With hard copy DVD’s, you also have to check the label under languages for the
AD designation. As Ray said, it really depends on the movie company whether
the DVD or the I tunes versions include description, sadly.

Caitlyn

Hello, when Safari is already launched, I see this option now with VO-Shift-M
however, I was looking for an option before Safari is launched. Where I could

Re: Changing languages with a bluetooth keyboard

2016-02-25 Thread Mike Busboom
Hello Ben,

I’m not sure what the make and model of my keyboard is, but it is bluetooth,
and I bought it from the Apple store.

Like you, I work in a multilingual environment. I also regularly use my
bluetooth keyboard to switch input and output languages on my iPhone 6.

What you need to do is make sure that you have enabled the switch language
feature in your Voice Over rotor options. Then, on your bluetooth keyboard,
simultaneously press the left and right arrow keys until you hear Voice Over
say “Quick Nav on.” This is a toggle command. If, after simultaneously
pressing these two keys, VO says “Quick Nav Off,” just press them again, and VO
will let you know that Quick Nav is on.

Once Quick Nav is on, you can go through your Voice Over rotor options by
simultaneously pressing the up arrow and left arrow to select your previous
rotor option or the up arrow and right arrow to select your next rotor option.

When you get to the language option, press either the up arrow or down arrow to
select the language you want. When you get to that language, just move to a
different rotor option, and your new language will take effect. You don’t need
to hit enter or anything else in order to confirm your language selection.

Let me know if you have any problems.

Best regards from Austria,

Mike

Re: Changing languages with a bluetooth keyboard

2016-02-25 Thread Seyoon Choi
The only trouble though is that this will change the voice language, a language
in which Voiceover speaks in. I can’t seem to figure out how to change the
language input settings, such as when you type letter S for example. I would
like to type in a different language and easily able to switch.
Any ideas for both iOS and Mac?

Re: Changing languages with a bluetooth keyboard

2016-02-25 Thread ben J. Bloomgren
It's quite easy on the Mac. What I do is,

Open your menu extras with control F8 or Vieux M twice, and then locate the
menu that's going to lease first Lee said the language is currently under. For
example, mine says US. Then, either type in the first few letters of the
language you want to go to, or aerobe down through the menu. Then, either hit
VO space or enter, and it will change the language. If you want to get back to
the Lynnwood you were in, I changed the keystrokes to say option space and
option shift space. Otherwise, you're going to run into a conflict with the
spotlight search. It's easy enough in iOS with the touch screen. You just go
down to the button that says next keyboard. You double tap on it, and/or hold.

Creating a new line in an iMessage

2016-02-25 Thread Mike Busboom
Hello everyone,

Ever since the most recent major iOS upgrade, it has not been possible to
create new or blank lines in iMessages.

Whenever I hit the Enter key, my iMessage is automatically sent. Does anyone
know of a way to create a blank line within a text since using the Enter key
simply sends out the message?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

If you're using a Bluetooth keyboard, try either command plus enter our option
plus enter. If not, double tapping the return key on the virtual keyboard works.

Another option you may want to try is shift + enter. I know this works
in some mac apps

Commenting and replying to comments on Facebook

2016-02-25 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi,

I'm struggling with Facebook. Is there a podcast anybody is aware of that
could help me work out how best to navigate on Facebook and read various types
of content without spending hours trying to find it? One of the things that's
really thrown me is when I reply to comments or try to find what people reply
to my comments, I can't really find them unless I spend inordinate amounts of
time doing so. Any tips? I tried "go Facebook app" but I think it is as
difficult as the webpage itself. There's so much interesting content for me on
Facebook and so many of my friends would not otherwise communicate that I feel
I'm compelled to use it.

Can't wait for your responses.

Andrew

Re: Commenting and replying to comments on Facebook

2016-02-25 Thread Donna Goodin
Hi Andrew,

A weird thing about FB on the Mac is that the place where you type in comments
is seen by Voiceover as a combo box. But you can type in it. It may take a
while for the text to populate, but it does.

Also, the item chooser is your friend. Bring it up with VO-i and then type in
what you're looking for, a word, a person's name, or whatever. That should
take you to what you're trying to find. For example, if I want to update my
status, I bring up the item chooser and type in the word mind. The What's on
Your Mind prompt comes up as one of the choices.

Personally, my advice would be to do FB on your iPhone, it's *much easier. If
someone comments on your post, it is shown in notifications. You can just
select that Tab and then see who has commented.
HTH,
Donna

2016-02-25 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi Donna,

Thanks for your tips. Can i ask, on my mac, I can see in notifications some
responses to my comments but only a line or two are showing and if I
vo+spacebar on them, I can't find the full text of what might have been said.
Any clues? Similarly in Messages I can't seem to get to the text of the
message, nor do I see the entire text. Is there a way?

Many thanks

Hi Andrew,

Are you interacting with the message? In FB you have to interact with

Excess ability and usability of sign-up genius

2016-02-25 Thread Mary Otten
I just learned that, as part of our new website, my church is going to use
something called sign-up genius when people are being asked to sign up for
things such as helping out with programs at Cetera. I gather it is fairly
widely used, but I have never run across it. Does anyone have experience with
it using a Mac or an eye device? How accessible is it or not? And how usable is
it or not? One of the things that gives me pause about this tool is that it is
supposedly real time. So if you are on the page and somebody else's signing up
for something on the page from a different computer or device, you can
instantly see that they have signed up. That sounds like a heap of trouble,
but, hope springs eternal. Any experience?
Mary

Re: Commenting and replying to comments on Facebook

2016-02-25 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland

OK, are you first of all using the mobile web site?

http://www.m.facebook.com

Second off, are you using the user agent Firefox virtualization?

Go into Safari preferences, advanced tab. Tell it to show the developer
menu in the menu bar.

Now, go to the link above. Once there, go to your menu bar, developer, user
agent, then Firefox.

The page will reload. Now, navigate the page like normal with Voiceover,
and log in. Now, once logged in, look around. You should find things
renderring not only quite differently, but they should look much much better
laid out and way way less clunky.

Subject: Commenting and replying to comments on Facebook

Hi,

I'm struggling with Facebook. Is there a podcast anybody is aware of that
could help me work out how best to navigate on Facebook and read various
types of content without spending hours trying to find it? One of the
things that's really thrown me is when I reply to comments or try to find
what people reply to my comments, I can't really find them unless I spend
inordinate amounts of time doing so. Any tips? I tried "go Facebook app"
but I think it is as difficult as the webpage itself. There's so much
interesting content for me on Facebook and so many of my friends would not
otherwise communicate that I feel I'm compelled to use it.

Can't wait for your responses.

Andrew

num padis locked

2016-02-25 Thread Tony
Hey All,

Please keep in mind that I'm new to the mac world. I have a full size Apple
keyboard that I have connected to a macbook pro, on which I have created a
virtual machine, where I installed Windows 7 with jaws 14. I'm not sure how,
but the num pad is locked, and I can't figure out how to get it back. I
tried hitting the numlock, but nothing but a tink sound when I try to
navigate.

Any help is always much appreciated.

RE: Adding or Moving Contacts Between Groups in iOS

2016-02-25 Thread M. Taylor
Hello George,

With your consent, I would prefer to keep this, on-list, as I think others may
find the discussion useful.

So, last night, I opened up the Contacts app in OS X.

Under the View Menu, I selected to show the Groups List. After doing this, I
was able to see the various lists I created on iCloud.com.

How does one add an existing Contact to various groups in OS X?

Thank you,

Mark

Re: Adding or Moving Contacts Between Groups in iOS

2016-02-25 Thread Basioli George
go into your main contacts and highlite / select the ones you wish to put in a
group and copy with command c
now go and select the group name in the group list so it is highlitted
now do a command v and past the selections you copied from the main contacts.
this will put the copy of those copied into the group you have selectted and
leave the original in the fffmain contacts.

you have to have a name in the main contacts inable to put it in a group
if you start by creatting a new contact within the group when it is intered it
will also put the contact in the main contacts.

duplicate detector?

2016-02-25 Thread jeff `greene
Hi, Just have a question. I have a very large audio book library. Recently
while backing it up I noticed a few books that sound like they are duplicates.
I’ve seen duplicate detecting software on the web and the app store. Has
anybody used any of these apps? Are they accessible?
Thanks, Jeff

cannot sign in to iTunes anymore

2016-02-25 Thread Ray Foret Jr
Is anybody having trouble signing in using iTunes? I went to turn on Home
sharing this morning and it would not turn on no matter what I did. So, I
signed out of iTunes on my Mac thinking that might help. Now, I cannot sign
back in. I can see that I'm signed in on the app store, and I can sign in
using Safari but I cannot do it using iTunes. I have the latest of everything
and it's not working. Any thoughts?

RE: cannot sign in to iTunes anymore

Hello Ray,

I am not having any problems signing into iTunes.

If you will provide the steps, however, I will be happy to try to reproduce
your issue.

Is anybody having trouble signing in using iTunes? I went to turn on Home
sharing this morning and it would not turn on no matter what I did. So, I
signed out of iTunes on my Mac thinking that might help. Now, I cannot sign
back in. I can see that I'm signed in on the app store, and I can sign in
using Safari but I cannot do it using iTunes. I have the latest of everything
and it's not working. Any thoughts?

Re: cannot sign in to iTunes anymore

2016-02-25 Thread Ray Foret Jr
Okay.

Here's what I did.

1. From the file menu, I clicked on home sharing submenu. Then, clicked on
"turn on home sharing". Nothing.

So, I went to the web for help. In some Apple forum, somebody said that
signing out of iTunes and bakc in should solve the issue.

So, I signed out of iTunes. Now, I can't get back in and here's what I've
tried.

1. Open the store menu from the menu bar.

2. Clicked on "sign in" No joy. Can't even see the window where I enter my
password and ID.

So, I went to see if I could sign in by clicking the account button just to the
left of the search box in iTunes. Now, here's what I'm seeing. I notice a
button that says "store account" Just to the right of it is the search box.
In other words, I focus VO on the "store account button" then, if I VO+right
just once, I land right on the search box. So, I choose the radio button that
says "iTunes store" From there, I tried to click on manage account, purchases
and other links. Still cannot sign in. I've done the disk repair and all that
stuff and no go.

Re: num padis locked

No.
You need to modify the VM so that the keyboard can be connected to it directly.
Here’s how :
Locate your VM bundle. Typically, it’s located in a subfolder of Documents
which is in your home folder.
right click (VO+shift+m), show package contents.
Open the "your-machine-name.vmx" file in a text editor (textEdit is included on
OS X but any editor will work).
Add the following two lines to the bottom of the file :

usb.generic.allowHID = "TRUE"
usb.generic.allowLastHID = "TRUE"

Save the file (command+s) and close it.
Reopen VMWare and start up your VM. Then click the "show settings" button.
Go to USB and your keyboard will be listed in the table. Check the checkbox and
click OK to confirm.
Now, the external keyboard will control the VM, and the internal keyboard will
control the host system. This means you can use both systems simultaneously and
have full keyboard support on Windows! I use an external windows-style
mechanical keyboard with my Mac, so can use typical Windows key
commands/placements.

Bill
P.S. VMWare Fusion has been abandoned. I’m still using it at the moment, but I
wouldn’t suggest it for new or mission critical systems. Still looking for a
better accessible hypervisor for the Mac, haven’t found a replacement yet.

RE: num padis locked

2016-02-25 Thread Simon Fogarty
So Bill

This could answer a question for me also.

As my mac mini is my host machine, and I have a mac USB keyboard connected to
that,

If I want a windows keyboard USB to control my windows VM
S in fusion, if I do the below you have suggested then the windows keyboard
will control the vms’s and the mac keyboard the mac os and I wont have to keep
changing things it will just happen.

Subject: Re: num padis locked

Add the following two lines to the bottom of the file :

usb.generic.allowHID = "TRUE"
usb.generic.allowLastHID = "TRUE"

You need to connect the keyboard directly to the VM.
What virtualization software are you using?

RE: cannot sign in to iTunes anymore

2016-02-25 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Ray,

Sadly, I cannot reproduce your problem. iTunes is letting me login without any
problem, even when I follow your steps.

Ray, do you have any vision? Is it possible that there is some kind of dialog
box being displayed that VoiceOver is not announcing?

Can you log into and out of the iTunes app on your phone?

Mark
