Re: how to find instruments from Min Stage 3 in Garage Band

2015-07-20 Thread Piotr Machacz
You will find them in your library, just like every other instrument. The newer
packs will just be added to existing categories, while older patches, like the
4 Garage Band jam packs, will be at the very bottom under the “legacy” section.

Re: glances on the watch

2015-07-20 Thread Jenine Stanley
I use the digital crown all the time. I do use it in Glances as well. for me
the angle is all wrong between my right hand and left wrist for totally
efficient swiping.

It took me a bit to get the motion of gently flicking the crown. I was putting
too much pressure on it and using way too much of my fingertip. Now it’s a
natural gesture.

Re: Sonos Controler.

2015-07-20 Thread Kevin White
Thanks for the information. I've played with it some, and while it is
not an ideal situation for controlling the Sonos playback experience,
I find that it does meet my needs for basic music library management.
I hope that the devs incorporate text labels for the buttons as I am
not confident enough with the interface layout to start setting up
tags for buttons.
Best,
Kevin

Question about safari

2015-07-20 Thread gracewelln...@atlanticbb.net
Hello,

I entered Safari and I hit VO u to see all the links. So far it’s the only
thing I know to do in Safari. I understand that there are other commands to see
all the lists, tables, etc. My question is: in Windows I can see links, tables,
buttons, etc. altogether. Is it possible to see the same in the mac? To see all
the links, etc. only is optional?
Thank you,
Rena

VoiceOver loses track of text and of line boundaries in MS-Word 2016

2015-07-20 Thread Jason White
Has anyone else on the list seen the following?

Typically after moving from page 1 to page 2 of a multi-page document in
MS-Word 2016 for Mac (both beta versions and now in the release), VoiceOver
starts reading only parts of lines rather than entire lines. The braille
display also shows lines being broken up incorrectly. When Command-Left-Arrow
is used to move to the start of the line, the cursor is often placed in the
middle of the braille line, showing that VoiceOver is getting incorrect
information about where lines start and end. This makes it almost impossible
to read and edit text.

I haven’t been able to track down any specific situation that causes the
problem though.

2015-07-20 Thread Krister Ekstrom
I know this doesn’t help you much and i’m sorry about that, but i can say
you’re lucky to have at least parts of a line read in MS Word 2016. I get only
one character at a time if i’m lucky and the occasional font and attribute
change but apart from that, nothing more.
I don’t know what gives here.

I’m not sure whether it’s going to be valid for MS Word but have you tried to
play around in preferences with options to do with wrapping? In textEdit
wrapping to window option has to be selected for Voiceover to read beyond the
first page correctly. Also, have you tried draft view or edit view to see
whether setting this in the View menu might helP?

Re: VoiceOver loses track of text and of line boundaries in MS-Word 2016

2015-07-20 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi Krister,

I've just opened MS Word, and pasted a 3 page text into a blank document to
double-check the behaviour. I was able to read the document without any
problems using voiceover. Under "view" I have print layout checked and in
preferences under "view" tab I have wrap to window checked. I also chose to
use classic look of MS Word.

Hope this might help.

likely they are to address the concerns in an upcoming software update.

Re: VoiceOver loses track of text and of line boundaries in MS-Word 2016

2015-07-20 Thread Krister Ekstrom
Hi,
I did the same and changed a few other changes and couldn’t for the life of me
fathom why nothing happened to the text, it was read in the same way. However
in the back of my head i had a thought that i have seen this behaviour before
in MS Word for Windows and it had to do with the zoom factor. I tried changing
it either to a higher or a lower degree, to no avail. Then my computer crashed
on me and my Voiceover voices were gone so i started over by means of a reboot.
When everything was up and running i noticed that Word had started up in the
background and so i went in and had a look around and noticed the zoom slider
was at about 20 percent. I adjusted it until it was at 0 percent and lo and
behold, the text was readable again. So without knowing if i am right or wrong
i’ll say that if you have trouble reading your documents and you only get
occasional font changes and other atribute changes, try zooming the document to
100 percent and see if something happens then.

Typically after moving from page 1 to page 2 of a multi-page document in
MS-Word 2016 for Mac (both beta versions and now in the release),
VoiceOver starts reading only parts of lines rather than entire lines. The
braille display also shows lines being broken up incorrectly. When
Command-Left-Arrow is used to move to the start of the line, the cursor is
often placed in the middle of the braille line, showing that VoiceOver is
getting incorrect information about where lines start and end. This makes
it almost impossible to read and edit text.

I haven’t been able to track down any specific situation that causes the
 problem though.

Re: Question about safari

2015-07-20 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Rena,

VO-u gives you lists of all the types of elements on the web page that you’ve
chosen to show under Web Rotor in the VoiceOver Utility. Having done VO-u, you
can go right or left to select the list you want.
To get the numbers of all the links, headings etc on the page, press VO-Shift-i
for Web page statistics.

VO-i is the Item Chooser and can be used in any application to locate an item
by typing a few letters.

Cheers,

Anne

Re: Question about safari

2015-07-20 Thread gracewelln...@atlanticbb.net
Anne, I’m confused. I read in a list of commands that VO u gives a lit of
links. When I was in safari and I hit VO u, I saw only links. However, you say:
VO-u gives you lists of all the types of elements on the web page.
Perhaps I’m misunderstanding something.

I tried Window -> Zoom, which didn't help. I'll check for any other likely
candidates though - thanks for the suggestion.

Microsoft's own help topic on accessibility says that only print layout view
is supported in VoiceOver. They actually say that other views are not
"optmized" and there is still work to do, but I think you can take it as
meaning the same as "unsupported" and "has serious, known bugs".

Quick update: I reset options that appeared potentially relevant, including a
"markup" option that had somehow been turned on. Now, I am able to read
through the same document that was causing trouble earlier without any
spurious line fragmentation issues.

Let's see what happens when editing is done. I'll keep experimenting.

Re: Apple Music

2015-07-20 Thread Terje Strømberg
Deezer is the same type of streaming app like Apple Music and Spotify. Not for
mac though. IOS and Android and Sonos and probably other streaming hardware
devices. Can stream lossless cd quality if you subscribe for that. Seems to work
very well with voice over on IOS devices. If the Sonos app for mac had been
more accessible with voice over, many could use it on mac via Sonos connect
streaming box.

Take care
