Yes, ok, I understood but probably I have expressed the question in a
wrong way.

I meant. Where is the accent key, on what key of the italian layout?
In other word, pressing that key, I'm going to have the "è", for
example, but changing layout to the U.S. then, on the "è" key, I'll type
the accent I need.

Sorry if I wasn't clear.
Gabriel.

Re: Quirky cell behavior in Numbers

2015-07-08 Thread Phil Halton
Thanks Nick, Option return did the trick. It let’s me edit the desired cell
contents. But, if I press VO spacebar on the same cell, it puts me in edit mode
on the cell to the immediate left.
There doesn’t seem to be any discernible pattern as to when this happens. The
particular case
I have a text label in cell a1, and a formula in cell b1 When I press VO space
on b1 I am put in edit mode in cell a1. But, if I hit option return on b1 I am
put in edit mode in b1 as expected.
Obviously VoiceOver has problems sometimes discerning which cell is which.
Thanks for the tip.

With Flash only being used in the browser, it might make sense to just
disable it in the Security settings of Safari in the Allow Plug-ins

Subject: upgrading to osx 10.4

I haven't used my mac for a few weeks because of other personal matters.
The machine was left on and itunes and imovies updates were installed.

However I want to install osx 10.4, but can't see anythsh inthe menus or
app store to allow me to install it. What am I missing?

Many thanks,

Don

Thanks for that, it's a great help. Don't know why it's not showing up inthe

Re: Error when streaming NFB convention

2015-07-08 Thread Ray Foret Jr
Ed, you've got something weird going on. I use the iTunes feed just fine.
Now, this morning, there did seem to be an issue with the stream but it's back
up now. One final point. Do you have Safari set to open safe files
automatically? Here's another thing you might try.

1. Go to the iTunes streaming link on the site.

2. Copy the link to your clip bord.
3. Now, open iTunes.

4. Now, press Option plus u.
5. Now, paste in the copied link.
Here's a final tip. IF the stream stops, just press the return key. This will
force a refresh of the connection.

HTH.

PPS. You don't need any extra plug ins to do this.

The Constantly Barefooted Ray

Re: Error when streaming NFB convention

2015-07-08 Thread Edward Green
Hi Ray,

Thanks, pasting the url into iTunes worked.

Yes, I have Safari set to open saved files.

Interestingly Voiceover didn’t report the error message by itself in Safari, it
just said ‘HTML content’ for the meat of the page, which was empty when I
interacted with it. my sighted wife saw the error and clicked it with the
mouse, then it spoke. I made it happen again, and was unable to find the error
independently.

Thanks again,

Ed

Re: Flash Player

2015-07-08 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Chris,

Just wanted to ask, if one disables flash in safari, can you still listen to
audio and tv streams like radio stations or tv stations? I know it would be
preferable to have flash disabled because of security issues but I don't want
to lose the ability to listen to radio and tv stations in my browser. Is there
an alternative? I have flip4mac on my macbook pro as well. Will this deliver
what I want?

Hi Caitlyn,

Thanks for this info.

I’m based in Australia so C$450 converts to about 400 and $77.85 at today's
exchange rates.

Will check out Amazon.

Last time I looked they didn’t ship some items Internationally.

They’ve recently opened up their online book store here so hopefully this
extends to all hardware as well.

 Hi,
We just bought a set of Boze Companion 5 speakers for my husband’s i mac.

In system prefs, under the sounds option, I chose the Boze speakers as the
 output for the sound.

Now, every time he reboots the mac, we’ve got only faint system sounds,
and vo seems to be turned way down.

Is anybody else using these speakers successfully?

the volume knob that attaches to the speakers is extremely sensitive! You
practically only have to breathe on it to change or mute the sounds!

 Thanks,
 Caitlyn

Re: Flash Player

2015-07-08 Thread 'Chris Blouch' via MacVisionaries
Depends on what the site is using to send their audio. With HTML5 it's
no longer a requirement to use a plugin for audio or video but some
sites still do it the old school way. The nice thing is you can add
exceptions by domain to the flash plugin list.

EQ

2015-07-08 Thread Terje Strømberg
Hi,

iTunes on mac. When looking in the menu options, i came to Window, arrow down
to equalizer. The command for this eq is option-comand+e. Seems to work pretty
good in bass and midrange. Especially midrange at my end.

Take care

apple Music Issue

2015-07-08 Thread Joshua Tubbs
Hi everyone,
I started using Apple Music at launch and it’s great. So I’m using it, adding
stuff to my library and it all of a sudden just stops. Pressing “Add to my
Music” on any song or album does not work as expected. After hearing that iOS 9
beta three isn’t very good, I downgraded back to 8.4 and set up Apple Music.
After turning on “iCloud Music Library” though, I’m noticing the same problem.
Telling Siri to play a song, I then say “add this song to my Library” and Siri
comes back with “Okay, I added it”. I check recently added and it is not there.
I suspect the problem lies with iCloud Music Library. Disabling and re-enabling
it works fine on the iPhone. Where it doesn’t is on the Mac, and I have over
25K in iTunes Match. Disabling iCloud Music Library works, starting it back up
it goes through it’s process and a few seconds later says that I can only have
25K songs. I click okay, where the checkbox is unchecked in the preferences. I
did find a workaround, which was copying my June 30 library over by removing
that copy and basically restoring an old library with the setting on. The
problem remains though, that music is just not getting added to iCloud Music,
even Apple Music stuff, since that’s what I’ve been trying. I don’t think
there’s a limit is there?

If all else fails, I’ll just make an iTunes library and see if that helps, a
brand new one. See if iCloud Music library can be enabled on that. Then how
could I switch iOS over to use that, though…?

RE: Need a bluetooth headset for my iphone 6, Plantronics, jabra or what???

2015-07-08 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Ramy,

If you used the Jabra Extreme 2, as I did, you are definitely going to want to
get the Plantronics Edge single-ear Bluetooth device.

Below I will paste in the contents from a previous thread on this subject.

Take it from me, you cannot go wrong with the new Plantronics Edge.

Mark,

Hi Sieghard,

To answer your question, "Yes", there is a Play/Pause button that allows
starting and stopping of streaming audio. In fact, one of the reasons why I
decided to purchase a new Bluetooth headset is because my Jabra Extreme 2 lacks
such a button.

The Play/Pause button is referred to as the Voice button in the Edge user
manual and is located on the arm of the boom mike.

When the proximity sensors are enabled, merely placing the Edge in your ear
will automatically cause streaming to be routed to it while removing it from
your ear will automatically send audio streaming back to the iOS device. The
same is true when on a call.

Take it from me, this is one world-class device.

Mark

Mark,

Is there a Play/Pause button which would allow you to pause and resume playback
with apps like Audible, Downcast and so on? I have a Jabra Supreme and like it
even though it's not exactly small, but I would never buy another bluetooth
earpiece which didn't offer the ability to play/pause what I might be listening
to as I am walking around at home or out and about.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: I Strongly Recommend The Plantronics Voyager Edge Bluetooth Single-Ear
Headset

Hello Everyone,

After all of the comments regarding the Voyager Legend headset, I decided to
purchase a new Bluetooth headset, also.

Because of a couple of things I don't like about the Legend, for example the
proprietary charging connection, I decided to go with the Voyager Edge.

I love this device. It is absolutely the most comfortable and responsive
Bluetooth device I've owned, to date. I have owned and used no fewer than
18 Bluetooth headset devices since 2007. The Edge builds on the Legend's
outstanding performance but returns to some industry standard protocols, for
example, the original charging cable connection. Like the Legend, it does have
a hardware on and off button.

What I really like about the Edge is that one can disable some of the features
of the device, for instance, the auto Answer/Reject prompts. There have been
many times when I was talking to someone when a call came in and the headset,
not a Plantronics, would automatically interpret my last spoken word as answer.

Below I am pasting in a short cNet review of the Edge at the bottom of which
you will find the URL to the review, itself.

Please note that the review was written almost a year ago. The reason I
mention this is that it states that the Edge cannot get 7 hours of talk time,
as can the Legend. However, this is no longer true. The unit I just purchased
gets over 7 hours of talk time.

Also, the Edge now ships with an over-the-ear loop and soft ear-jell tips.

In short, I would strongly recommend anyone who is in the market for a high
performance blindness-friendly single-ear Bluetooth headset device consider the
Voyager Edge.

Mark

cNet Review:
The Good The Plantronics Voyager Edge packs outstanding call quality and noise
cancellation. The headset is also light, comfortable to wear, and compact for a
boom-style device. The Edge comes with a handy battery case for protection and
charging on the go.

The Bad The Voyager Edge's ear tips don't form a tight audio seal and take some
fiddling to position properly.

The Bottom Line The Plantronics Voyager Edge's impressive hands-free call
quality and sleek size makes it a smarter buy than the fashionable Jawbone Era.

Equipped with support for multiple languages, aggressive noise cancellation and
a host of other advanced communication skills, the $129.99 Voyager Edge
represents Plantronics' latest stab at a high-tech tool for mobile voice chat.
It sits alongside the company's popular Voyager Legend ($99.99), another
premium hands-free product. Additionally, the Edge replaces the Discovery 975SE
which was crafted to be as sleek as possible without sacrificing call quality.

Indeed despite it's compact size, the Edge uses
