Re: KNFB Reader

2015-02-24 Thread Chris G

I did something similar with a Windows phone.
I needed to move through a text character by character. I couldn't do
it, so I grabbed the iPhone using KNFB Reader and took a picture of the
Windows phone screen and was able to get the text and read it character
by character.

Re: How to extract the attached file to a message

2015-02-24 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

This part isn’t particularly accessible although doable. If I recall correctly
you need to focus on the attachment, bring the mouse to the VO cursor with
VO-cmd-f5, then physically click your mouse or trackpad. If that doesn’t quite
do it, you may need to move the mouse or your finger on the trackpad a little
up, down, right, or left then click again. It was kind of a “trial and error”
thing, I remember, but it is doable after you figure out exactly where the
attachment actually is.

Re: Notification center on mac.

2015-02-24 Thread Alex Hall
Open the Notifications Center. At the bottom of the window is a "Notification
Center Preferences" button; activate that, and you'll find a table of
notification-enabled apps. Simply arrow to the app you want, and vo-right to
the options. You can decide the alert style (none, banners, or alerts), uncheck
the "show in Notification Center" box to remove the app, control how many
notifications appear at a time, and so on. Some apps have extra controls, so
don't assume they are all identical, and have a good look at the options for
each app you want to configure.

Re: Scraping an Entire Website

2015-02-24 Thread 'Chris Blouch' via MacVisionaries

I have macports set up on my machine

https://www.macports.org

so that makes it easy to add additional packages. With that I just do

sudo port install wget

enter my computer's password and it installs wget. Once you have wget
you can crawl/archive an entire site with this command:

wget -mcrpk -o process.log http://www.somesite.com

Parameters:

O - output of the process is written to a file instead of the display.
In this case I logged everything to process.log

M - Mirror - copies timestamps and recursion
C - Continues a partly-downloaded transfer. Probably not as big an issue
on a functioning web site
R - Recursion, but this might not have been needed with the M. Figured
it didn't hurt.

P - Download any page dependencies like CSS, images etc.
K - Convert all links to relative URLs so it doesn't keep trying to link
off to the original site or path

That should be it. You'll end up with a folder with everything in it.
You can turn on apache on your Mac and browse the site with Safari if
you like. You can also open the files in Safari but some stuff like
Ajaxed dynamic content won't work. You probably won't want to re-host it
as is since some shared assets will be duplicated. Another caveat is
that if you have secret URLs that are not linked from anywhere on your
site the crawler will not be able to find them.

app store on mac

Hi folks,

I am attempting to purchase an app on the iTunes app store. I have the most
current iTunes, Mac OS, iPhone 6 with most current software update.

I can only occasionally find the iTunes store. Smile. Any suggestions on how to
consistently find the store?

Once I did find the store and tried to search the store. I put in my app name
but was given suggestions that were not my app. I only found the main page of
the store and no list of apps.

What am I doing wrong? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If you need
further information, please let me know.

Thank you,

2015-02-24 Thread Alex Hall
What's your new script, at least the first few lines, look like? Also, as
others have said, it is generally easier to use ~/library/scripts, or somewhere
else in your home folder, so you don't run into these password and other
permissions problems.

Ok I put the script into ~/library/scripts. I see where I went
wrong, I used the recents from the Go menu to get to the library folder.

Then went into Commanders again and set that, still nothing happens.

I am using your date and time script, did not touch anything but the
keywords.

Re: app store on mac

2015-02-24 Thread Eugenia Firth
Hi Rhonda
Are you wanting to get an app for your iPhone or an app for your computer? If
it's the iPhone, I have found it easier to go to the app store on the iPhone.
If it's your computer, you can go there with your dock by pressing control
option d and then typing the letters ap. You can also go there with the Apple
menu by press- control option m and go down arrow until it says app store. For
the Mac, you will want to then press command f to type a search for the app you
want.
You can buy an app for your iPhone on your computer, but I think it's a lot
easier to go there from your home screen on the iPhone. Hope this helps.

Talking Dashboard Script Broken (was: Permissions)

Even if you mistype a keyword, the script itself will run. The only way that
could be broken is if you introduced a character that threw it off, like a
quotation mark. Can you paste the part of the script you modified so I can have

Help I seemed to have broken toggling between open applications

2015-02-24 Thread Brian Fischler
Not sure what I did as I was playing around in the keyboard shortcuts in system
preferences. I did not think I changed anything but now all of the sudden
command tab does not cycle through open applications rather it seems like the
command key is being ignored and just tab is being recognized and jumping from
one element to the next. Also command accent does not seem to toggle me between
open windows in the same program anymore. Forxt example when I have two windows
opened in safari I can no longer easily toggle between the open windows. Not
sure what I did, any ideas? Thanks.

Creating a slideshow

2015-02-24 Thread Traci Duncan
Hi all,

I looked back in the archives, but didn’t find any answers.

I want to create a short slideshow, with 6 photos and a music track. I also
want to set the order of the photos.

How do y’all do this? Which apps etc.?

A couple years ago, I successfully did part of this via iPhoto, however I
couldn’t reorder my photos.

Any suggestions?

Re: Say Ram Status script

2015-02-24 Thread Alex Hall
I haven't been able to. I looked at it, and as far as I can tell, the output
from Mountain Lion is the same as the output from Mavericks and Yosemite, so I
can't figure out where it is breaking. My understanding, though, is that 10.9
and later handle ram differently now, and will always show it as mostly or
completely used even if it isn't. I have therefore not been too worried about
fixing the script, not that I have a clue why it's broken.

Re: Apple script doesn't work

2015-02-24 Thread Jürgen Fleger
Hi Jonathan,

it’s a while ago but I hope you’ll support me again.

I tried the following script:

tell commander
perform command "move mouse pointer to voiceover cursor"
delay 1
end tell
output mouse summary
tell mouse cursor
click twice
End Tell

Unfortunately it didn’t work. Script Editor showed an error message saying it
expected end of line but found an identifier. Could you try it once more and
see if there is anything wrong with the script? If it works correctly I’m able
to change it to right click.

Thanks and
all the best
Jürgen

Alex,
I retrieved the script from the zip archive and put it in the proper

know its not the script itself.

Perhaps a setting somewhere? I did enable commanders.

Re: app store on mac

2015-02-24 Thread Colin Matthews
Hi!
OK when on iTunes on the Mac and lets say your on your music you should find
buttons like my music, playlists and then iTunes store!
Just VO space on the store button and after it refreshes just press Command+7
and that will put you into the App store part of iTunes!
And until you decide to leave the iTunes store those commands will take you to
that part of the store, like Command+1 will take you back to the music part of
the store!

Re: Apple script doesn't work

2015-02-24 Thread Jonathan C Cohn
Good Day,

Just so happened I looked at the list today! The problem is that in Tell
Commander AppleScript does not know the object you can either wrap the entire
script in

Tell application “VoiceOver”
…
End Tell

Or at the beginning use the use clause to say you are working with VoiceOver
throughout the script.
use application “VoiceOver”

Are you thinking of adding in a dialog to ask if the mouse found the correct
point to click?

Yes, Command right arrow twice. Command right once will take you to your
mentions and and again will take you to your DMs. You can do it again to go to
Favorites then lists then search, then you’ll wrap back to your main time line.
Obviously you can go back and forwards with left or right arrows as you wish.

Calendar list view gone

2015-02-24 Thread Phil Halton
My calendar on the iPhone was working fine, giving me a list view of all
events. Then yesterday I entered a few calendar dates on the Mac and now the
iPhone app has lost the list view and now displays that month view that only
says how many events on any given day, and you have to interact to see what
they are.
Does anyone know how to get the simple list view of events back?
I remember this happening once way back and we had a fix for this that got the
list view back, but can’t remember it now. Nor can I find anyway out of the
month or year views.
Please help, the app is next to useless now.

Control with numbers will also do it. For instance, ctrl-1 is your first tab,
or Home; ctrl-2 is Mentions; ctrl-3 is Messages (or DMs, whatever you want to
call it); and so forth.

Re: Calendar list view gone

2015-02-24 Thread Alex Hall
Just tap a day in the month and it should display the list under the gird of
days. If not, tap the List View button on, I believe, the bottom of the screen.
Or am I misunderstanding the question?

dock problem in osemite

2015-02-24 Thread Donald Bishop
I downloaded menutab and installed it into the applications folder. I then
created an item for it on the dock.
I did something to menutab so uninstalled and then reinstalled. Thing is that
I can’t seem to delete it from the dock as that entry is apparently pointing to
my original install of menutab.

So, two questions:

1. how do I delete this old item from the dock. Secondly, how do I add the
correct link to menutab onto the dock.

I think the command list I have is inaccurate which doesn’t help.

Can anyone help me get out of this?

Thanks,

Don

Re: Apple script doesn't work

2015-02-24 Thread Jürgen Fleger
Hi Jonathan,

I’m confused because I don’t know Apple Script that good to play around with
just single terms and changing lines. I wasn’t able to replace the line because
I didn’t know where to put it. So my request was if you could change the
following script so that I could just copy an paste it to Script Editor
completely. So could you do the changes and leave the script completely in your
answer e-mail?

tell commander
perform command "move mouse pointer to voiceover cursor"
delay 1
end tell
output mouse summary
tell mouse cursor
click twice
End Tell

Would be really helpful for me to receive the complete script including the
necessary changes.

All the best
Jürgen

 Hi,

I tried to extend an Apple Script from performing a cingle left mouse
click to perform a double left mouse click. It does perform the double
mouse click as far as I can tell it from my ears. Unfortunately it doesn’t
 work lik a double click.
Example: If I go to a file, route the mouse cursor there manually by
pressing VO + CMD + F5, press then VO + Shift + Space twice, it works fine
 to open the file.
But if I use the following script it sounds as if it performs a double
mouse click but the file doesn't open. Here’s the script:

 tell application "VoiceOver"
tell commander
perform command "move mouse pointer to voiceover cursor"
delay 1
perform command "click mouse"
delay 0.3
perform command "click mouse"
end tell -- commander
 end tell — VoiceOver

So, does anybody sees why the script doesn’t work the way I want it to?

 Thanks and all the best
 Jürgen
