Re: Editing document in Pages that's saved in icloud drive

2014-11-23 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Dear Gigi,

That’s exactly what made me write to the group because on the iphone I did
press the “done” and “back” buttons as you said every time I added content to
the document. But when I opened the same document on my mac, the added content
was not there.

Thanks for reassuring me. I’m just losing a bit of confidence in working with
documents in icloud drive because some of the notes I added and would like to
in the future I cannot reproduce later.

Best wishes

Andrew

I use VMWare Fusion myself running windows 7 and I am working with unusual

As silly as it may sound: Does the dialog come up which let's you chose

 Listers,

I’m in truble! I saved a new document in Pages and chose to have it in
icloud drive so that I could add to it on my iphone or ipad when I was
away from my mac. The thing is that the synchronisation hasn’t been
happening very well, and I have data missing. Am I making a mistake
somewhere? On my iPhone, I would open the document, add some notes to it,
and then tap done and then tap back. I would close Pages. When I got
home though, and opened the document on my mac, the notes I had added
during the day are missing. I assumed the document would automatically
sync via icloud drive. Has anyone else had this problem?

 Many thanks

 Andrew

Dear Gigi,

No, I haven’t done so. I will try to open icloud drive and see whether things
will have improved. Thanks so much for helping. When I’m away from home and
therefore from my wifi network, I use celular access to work in Pages. I don’t
suppose it would have anything to do with this? Surely that’s what most people
do and surely that’s what icloud drive is designed for?

Thanks again

2014-11-23 Thread Eugenia Firth
Hi Andrew
Just so you know, for some reason, I iPhone refused to open your last message.
It worked on my Mac, but not my iPhone. It said that it was a format it
couldn’t read.

Ok, now that I have said that, the time it happened to me, I went into the
iCloud drive, and it took about 30 seconds or maybe a minute for it to update.
In fact, I had my cursor on it when it changed, so I knew when it happened.
Ever since then, I have not had any more trouble with getting things from one
to the other, especially if I don’t try to switch too quickly from one device
to another.

not - and they can not - simulate all aspoects of a parallel interface. a
classical parallel interface allows for port level IO which is simply not
possible via USB.
A printer port - sometimes referred to as centronics port - only uses a
subset of these features.
Therefore, your embosser might simply rely on features not supported with
the USB printer port class.

I am running a Mac Book Air with Windows 7 Professional and trying to get

seem to get the computer and embosser to communicate with each other
properly. I am trying to use a USB to parallel port cable since the Mac
does not have a parallel port. I am assuming I am going to have to call
tech support at Enabling to get some help with this. Any ideas would be

Fleksy keyboard help

2014-11-23 Thread Venkatesh Potluri
Hi all,
I have finally updated to iOS 8.1.1 on my iPhone 4S and the experience
has been good. I am now using the Fleksy keyboard and have a few
questions.
When I use Fleksy with Voiceover turned on, VO does not interfere with
flecks. That is, it does not read aloud the keys i tap on the
keyboard. This has been a very nice experience. At times how ever, it
speaks the letters I tap on the keyboard and does not speak the
corrected word Fleksy enters when I swipe right. VO says "bottom of
document" when I swipe down to listen to and choose a different word
from the suggestions. How do I prevent this?
How do I add new words to Fleksy with VO enabled?
Hope I made my self clear.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Venkatesh Potluri

Seeking file management software for backup strategy

2014-11-23 Thread Phil Halton
I have been using Karen’s power tools Replicator program (a hold over from the
windows days) to take daily snapshots of my critical working folders, and now I
want to ditch it for a Mac equivalent such as Hazel.
Here’s a simple thumbnail of what I want to do.
Each day of the week I want to move a certain folder to a daily backup folder
example, on monday, move folder x to folder mondayBackup, On tuesday, move
folder x to TuesdayBackup etc
That’s all! This requires that I can check the system date and move a folder
with options for keeping directory structure and other such bells and whistles
. Sounds simple enough, but automator confuses the heck out of me and Hazel
doesn’t seems to allow for actions based on system day and date.
Are there any good apps that will let me do this?

This running list of podcast links approach is very helpful. It means I can
just keep the most recent message and have an updated list of your podcasts.
Please keep it going this way in lieu of any podcast feed.

Re: running Embosser with Duxbury on my Mac

2014-11-23 Thread erik burggraaf
If so, you can easily correct this by going to fusion’s menu bar, control
option M.
Open the virtual machine menu.
Open the usb menu.
press enter on the option which says connect usb printer port or words to that
efect. It will vary by make and model of cable most likely.

You’ll then here the standard windows found new hardware sound.

Hope this helps,

The issue in that case is windows seven compatibility, not virtualization. To
find out if your old enabling embosser is windows seven compatible, email the
serial number to enableing support and ask.

I am running a Mac Book Air with Windows 7 Professional and trying to get
an Enabling Technologies embosser to work properly with Duxbury. I can’t
seem to get the computer and embosser to communicate with each other
properly. I am trying to use a USB to parallel port cable since the Mac
does not have a parallel port. I am assuming I am going to have to call
tech support at Enabling to get some help with this. Any ideas would be
greatly appreciated. I have an Enabling Thomas embosser.

Hi, these USB to parallel adapters are actually printer port adapters.
This means that they connect a centronics printer to your USB host. They do

classical parallel interface allows for port level IO which is simply not
possible via USB.
A printer port - sometimes referred to as centronics port - only uses a
subset of these features.
Therefore, your embosser might simply rely on features not supported with

Anyone into Wine? (the software, not the drink)

I barely know what I'm doing, though my background is in computers so I should

packages to enable, and how to give the games speech feedback. I'll also need
to add some custom files and folders (such as maps and sounds) to the profile

Hello,

This is not the case. All Macs released from mid 2012 have been shipping with

Thanks.

Well then, do the install on bootcamp. You can always virtualize your bootcamp
pratician and use it that way, but you can not turn a virtual machine into a
bootcamp partician.

VMWare Fusion 7 and JAWS 16

2014-11-23 Thread Barry Abbott
Hi all.

I am running VMWare Fusion version 7 and windows 8.1. NVDA and System Access
start up automatically both on the log on Screen where I put in my password for
my Microsoft Account and after the log on. Not so with JAWS. I have checked
start JAWS on the log on screen and "for all users" and "always for this user".
I even tried pressing alt+y for the user account control even though there was
no indicator sound. JAWS will not start after the log on until I use my
shortcut keys.

Any ideas as to what I can do to resolve the situation. I had the same issue
with JAWS 15.

Thanks. Barry Abbott

2014-11-23 Thread Juliette Swiler
I never thought about going into the virtual machine window and choosing
connect printer port. This may be why it is not functioning correctly. And come
to think of it, I never heard the new hardware sound from Windows when I
connected it. Not even after I chose Windows from the choices when VoiceOver
asked me which system I wanted to connect to. Thanks for everyone’s input on
this. I wish Enabling Technologies would not just take the easy way out and say
the only way they know to connect is through Boot Camp. That sounds like a
copout.

This means that they connect a centronics printer to your USB host. They

 not possible via USB.
A printer port - sometimes referred to as centronics port - only uses a

Therefore, your embosser might simply rely on features not supported with

VMware fusion menus

2014-11-23 Thread Juliette Swiler
One more question regarding the virtual machine menu. Do I have to have the
cable connected in order for the connect USB printer port to appear? I just
started up fusion and it doesn’t seem to appear without the cable connected.
Once again, I am extremely grateful for everyone’s help and support. Dealing
with technology is so frustrating when I can’t figure out how to get something
to work correctly.

terminal info

2014-11-23 Thread deedra waters
Here are some thoughts along with about 2.5 weeks of using the mac and terminal.

I found things to work best if i set my terminal to t100 turn curser tracking
on and i seem to have the most success this way. I’m trying to mud from the
terminal as well, and while it’s still not perfect it does “semi-work” and
doesn’t make me want to toss the macbook in the nearest river.:) It would be
nice to try and make it a bit better but, i can live with the way it is now
though those urges to toss the thing in the river still resurface now and then:)
